The fact that the story develops among many centuries is what I like, plus the music that is VERY atmospheric. You start with a present day protagonist, in a big ass mansion and the story progress with many people that lived through the ages... that's genius IMO.
Yea, if you like character development and story telling, this is a game for you. It's not like Resident Evil walking around shooting things, it's more like those old school adventure games, with practical puzzle elements throughout and enough challenge that by the end of it you'll feel a great sense of accomplishment. Truly a classic and I which Nintendo does something more with it.
I played this when it first came out for the Nintendo GameCube. All these years later , it's still my favourite game. What a story, what a soundtrack, what a game!
this is how you make an ost video. atmospheric intro, fade-in to the track titles. having track titles to begin with, and graphics from the game as a pointer. Of course, just the songs would be totally acceptable, but putting some effort into it makes such a difference. it honestly inspires me to know that some people still care enough to deliver quality.
Me too. I love this game so much, and in it's original format is the only way to play it. No way am I going to give up one of the best horror games ever made.
*Not only is this soundtrack soothing and disturbing, but also pay attention to when the track is highlighted.* *Example..* *"last hope Cuturgah, The Chosen Ulyoth"* *It's a minor thing to some, but for real fans this is a treat, props to you good sir!..*
alucardfu2 Chattur’gha is my favorite alignment to play on, you can’t go wrong with regrowing limbs ;) I still play this game on the PC emulated, but I keep the GC and game on display on a neat shelf
Really interesting that the soundtrack occasionally features voice acting that isn't heard in the game. Whether it's cut content or stuff that was recorded specifically for the OST, it's a cool touch. Edit: Well, maybe it was just the one clip of Alex right at the beginning, seems I misremembered a bit. Still neat to hear something extra from Jennifer Hale though.
Just rediscovered the game after playing it when it was new. Never looked up the music then, and I was reminded of the awesome music when replaying. Found out Steve Henifin passed in 2019. Such a shame.
played this when it first came out on gamecube best game ive ever played comparing to other horror games this one you cant beat for its time it was the best ive played to bad they didn't make a second game of this it would have been awesome especially sound track and the game effects within the game (Corpses! How can something so... so dead, yet be so alive?!?! And hungry..! They lust for flesh... Human flesh... And feast upon all the sweetbreads a man has to offer!!) Maxmilian Roivas
Amazing soundtrack cannot be said anything less it just put you into that world and doesn't let go when I start the game I didn't want to put it down until I finished it and then when I was finished I started all over
Silicon knights always made compelling story games, like legacy of kain ect ect. One thing I did notice is that they both have an tentacle eye god in both games (mantarok)
Not sure if you know this but the Silicon knights became the soul-predecessor of Bethesda and the studio that made mass effect. This is one of those games you just need to report to make a fortune of. HD remakes would be the cherry on top of the icecream. this is perfectness at its best of its time.
I wish this game would've gotten a remaster and sequel... But unfortunately, Nintendo shot down all attempts of the sequel, causing Silicone Knights to become bankrupt and dissolve.
That's just not true. Silicon Knights' lawsuit against Epic Games was its undoing. Also everything produced by Silicon Knights after MGS:TS was dogshit
My two hypothesis : 1- Avestan because it's a liturgical indo-iranian language which has spread all over the old Persia and actual Middle West and if you listen ton it it's almost similar. 2-Could be glossolalia too, to sound more shamanic...
@@corrosyon When playing as Michael the Canadian firefighter we definitly know the Forbidden City must be located in Irak or Koweït (First Gulf War). Avestan had largely been spread and spoken at the time of Pious Augustus in that region, so I mentionned it as the possible singing we hear in the Chosen One part.
Now THIS game could use a nice HD remake
Definitely!
So true my friend !!
Definitely soo truue !!
Hell yeah!
For real! Emphasis on remake. Not remaster.
Yes it's called Dolphin emulator, leave this one alone it's special.

"one of" the best?
The best survival game of all time.
@@mourasantos Yes! I concur.
The best.
Dear gods. This sound.
I was fortunate, and bought the score on a whim. This remains one of my favorite game soundtracks of all time.
This masterpiece game deserves a sequel with the same main character(s) or a remastered version.
A sequel was planned about a decade ago but failed the kickstarter.

Just discovered the game through a streamer. I love the soundtracks, The gift of forever is amazing
Black Rose sure takes me back. It's such a masterpiece.
Best Gamecube game! Still got my system and mint condition copy of the game

One of the creepiest "mind-fuck" games out there! Play it!
You don't know the half of it.
This game, so underrated! And

Its just missing the ambient chilling music in the option menu ;)
Great soundtrack, but this seems to be missing the relaxing option menu music.
SolidBren true, camp the option menu just for that reason
I think this is missing the ambient music that plays during the vampire section in Edward's chapter.
Damn, the video stopped playing at 3:33...
THIS ISN'T REALLY HAPPENING!
time to burn down the house, it's cursed beyond repair...
Survival horror with history and lovecraftian elements
Best Horror Game in Gamecube Need remastered please 🥺
This game will be the best of its genre for the Eternity.
The List is very amazing
Amazing game
Votes for Eternal Darkness 2 ?????
Nintendo seems at least a little bit interested, maybe, having renewed the trademark a couple months ago.
New composer would be needed.
Steve Hefnin, the OG composer, passed away, I heard.
I wish this game would've gotten a remaster and sequel...

Yeah Silicon is 0/2 with their lawsuits. Losing the Legacy of Kain series and the game engine for unreal. Very sad.
Dude Nintendo just needs to call on square enix or some third-party developer and make a make a sequel to this now
Sadly, this music composer who died 2 years ago. 🙏
