@@jazzmanchgo I agree - I love George's heckling of everyone, very ahead of his time. That guy knew how to draw the heat, but yes, a legit match would have been great.
At Los Angeles' Olympic Auditorium, in the very early sixties, I saw a tag team match: Ricky Starr and Haystack Calhoun vs Don Manoukian and the Destroyer. Thanks Dad for taking us.
About 20 years ago I asked my dad if there were any wrestlers from the past which he liked. He said Ricky Star. Tonight I decided to see who this guy is
A wonderful match -- Ricky Starr can't beat his antics. Does anyone know anything about the later years when he went to England and became a spiritualist?
When I was a kid(circa 1960) I recall that The Ring magazine (then covering both boxing and wrestling) rated Starr the second or third best pro wrestler in the country. Either the editor was gay or he was able to look past the schtick and see things others didn't.
Rotf, ok that's a first, watching a wrestler give his opponent a wet Willie! Hans sieg heiling and goosestepping around, and Gorgeous George heckling the audience, this is gold.
Ricky Starr later wrestled in Texas. Why didn't they have him face Gorgeous George??? He was never duplicated....not even close. WWE should have him in the HALL OF FAME....but that's all politics. Gorgeous George was a mediocre wrestler at best...
This was a poorly choreographed match.Hans Herman's main worry seems to be to avoid inadvertantly hurting Ricki.Ricki ,for his part, just wants to dance around.Good thing this wasn't a shoot as Ricki would have been badly hurt.
Ricki was so ahead of his time. This much is still entertaining 60 years later.
Totally agree! Fun match.
I saw Ricki Starr in the Sportatorium in FT Worth Texas. He was entertaining and phenomenal
So happy this match was preserved. Starr needs to be talked aboit more
I would've loved to see Starr vs Gorgeous George, that would've been comedy gold
A prance-off!
@@goldenagenut The thing is, beneath the gimmicks they both had some legit rasslin' chops. Might've been an interesting match-up.

i remember watching Ricky Starr against Dr Death at the Granada Cinema 1963
Ricki Starr had a great body and was a damn good wrestler.
Ricki Starr was awesome.... You can see his influence some 40 years later in Lanny Poffo's character "The Genius"......

this announcer is great !
reminds me of the narrator for the "Batman" TV series in the 60s
He's absolutely hilarious.
Ricki was really entertaining. At the end of the day, that's what most people wanted to see - entertainment over headlocks and rest holds.
Ricki Starr was a great wrestler
Shoulda stuck to ballet in my view.I found his antics annoying. But each to his own.
Watched a 1962 tv episode of Mister Ed, Ricky Starr played a part on the episode. Had to come looking

Not much because at the same time he secluded himself and avoided contact with everyone, according to Adrian Street.
It is a mysterious wrestler!
R.I.P Ricki starr
Front row and the ring crew were ready to go home before the announcer made it official
This is like putting Killer Kowalski vs Spike Dudley,LOL.

Ricky was a class act
Oh yeah dude 😎 great match.
I also combine ballet and wrestling 🥵.
Man on man action 🥵. R U man enough 💪🤠?
Big fan of Rick Starr.
BTW...Ricky actually had ballet training. ...

Jim Cornette would scream at this and say how they're killing the business
David ( Ricki) vs Goliath (Hans) . Hans had the huge size and brute strength over him but Ricki had the speed .
Have you ever seen a finishing move like that? And that gimmick. Imagine being 60 years ahead of your time

Ricki may have been a 'Good Guy',but he was kinda annoying.
This must be the worst commentator I’ve ever heard.
