So Speed. The main thing that matters to me is how fast the computer can go and how low I can bring its softwares latency/buffer size.
You see, the lower the latency or buffer size, the faster the response of the program and the audio to your commands and requests.
So does the XMG DJ 15 deliver? Yes. It can do 1ms on Serato DJ Pro and something around that on Rekordbox DJ, depending on your hardware.
And what’s even more impressive is that in my real world tests, I was able to audio record and screen record with that ultra low buffer size, with no problem at all.
Now what makes the XMG DJ 15 work as good as it does (besides the specs) are 2 things:
First. This version of Windows 10 Pro on this Laptop comes with no bloatware, and has been solely developed for DJing. So the little things like the sound settings, look and even audio drivers have been settled and readied for peak audio performance.
Second. The XMG DJ 15 has been DPC optimized. Which basically means that this computer can smoothly communicate with its custom BIOS, components, and drivers with no problem whatsoever - even if we’re running on the Battery, and have Wifi and Bluetooth enabled.
So, all in all, this laptop runs fast and stable even if you’re multitasking, and that’s especially important for a DJ like me who screen records and audio records super technical DJ Tricks.
Moving on to Number 2. Connectivity
So the laptop line to compare this to are Apple’s MacBooks, and if you wanna go head to head in specs, this computer is obviously the better deal.
But what makes this laptop especially better than Apple’s MacBooks are its ports.
You see on the right side of this laptop, we have a power socket, USB 3 Port, USB 2 Port, Microphone/SPDIF Input, and Headphone Input.
And on the left we have an Ethernet Port, SD Card Reader, HDMI Port, Mini Display Port, USB 3 Port, and even a a USB C Port which can be used for a variety of different things like charging.
Now as a traveling DJ, carrying dongles suck, so it’s good to have a unit that has every port you could ever need when you’re on the go. And this for me is my personal reason why I would prefer this laptop over the current MacBook line for DJing.
The XMG DJ 15 is only about 1.6kg or 3.5 pounds, and comparing that to the 15 inch MacBook Pro - this thing is light. And that’s mostly due to its aluminum lid and top case, as well as its resin bottom which has air vents for quality airflow.
But what doesn’t feel good to use though are its speakers. For a DJ laptop, the speakers on this unit are pretty bad.
Moving on to the screen. It’s pretty decent. The XMG DJ 15 sports a 1080p Matte Finish Anti Glare Panel that really helps make DJing in clubs a whole lot easier on the eyes.
So all in all, what do I think of the XMG DJ 15?
Well as a laptop designed by DJs for DJs, this laptop does its job exceptionally well. After putting it thru some real world tests, nothing ever seemed to hinder its performance.
And if I really wanted to push this laptop, I had to use for something that it was not intended for, such as hard core live-streaming and gaming.
And that makes me stand by to what I said - that this laptop is the best laptop for DJing period.
So if you want to get a laptop for lifestyle stuff, there are better options out there, but if you wanna get an affordable laptop for the best DJing experience, this is the best one to get.

I’ve been DJ-ing on my old laptop and using it for my school works too. I’ve been wanting an upgrade for more than 2 years now but haven’t had the budget to do so. I remember living in San Diego in the early 90’s -2003. I specifically remember BT spinning on his laptop at this really small club off Hancock Street DT San Diego. Must have been between 1999-2001. Anyways it was really innovative for the time and he was the only one doing it.

I love that it is for DJ software and it has all requirements for any DJ software. Since I love to record my mix's, it would come in handy and run good without any hick ups

I've been watching your videos since high school I always check your channel for tips that have shaped me into the dj I am today. I started learning how to DJ a 4 years ago on my already old and tired laptop, I have to have the buffer set quite high and still have massive sound issues. I've got a great controller, a great PA system, but I've never done a public performance because I know my laptop is not up to standard. When i was 15 i want to be come a dj like you.. una kitang nakita sa sa youtube jan 23 2016 ung remix mo po ng roses With vince cabrera subrang na amazed ako sabi ko i want tobe like you .. but I realized na parang imposible kasi walang magulangan na susuporta pero pinag patuloy ko padin nag apply ako sa sound system para maabot ung gusto ko gawin un po ung maging dj kagaya mo pero hindi madali subrang hirap kaya napunga ako sa lightning division kinalimutan ko na ung pangarap na maging dj balang araw ... Until nakita ko to at pinanood ko baka hindi pa huli ung lahat baka pwede pa kaya salamat po sir carlo kasi nag bibigay kayo ng motivation sa katulad ko.. sana po mapansin nyo ung comment ko nangangarap lang din po ako kahit wala akong kakayahan makabili ng gamit ...

I have been looking a really great laptop for DJing and this review by far helps a lot. I am currently using my dell with intel core i3 and so far it does what its suppose to but it'd be really nice having a laptop that works even better. I wonder what other potentials I can unlock and heights ill be able reach with a gear this good.

i have been DJing with laptop since i can remember, I have never had the money to own a xdj or another standalone, and the laptop has always been an important part of my life. It's not the first time i get kicked out of the dj booth for my old and not trusty laptop. So i'm glad that at least DJs like us have an incredible product and it's not the typical expensive macbook. Hey Carlo been following your content for more than a year now and all I can say that you really know your stuff behind the decks. Your videos helped me improve my style and flow for my sets. Personaly im a dj for over 5-6 years now but really had no improvements(didnt scratch or use any tricks just basic beatmatching). So you really helped a lot :) I'm interested in getting this laptop because I have a 6 year old Acer laptop which is at the edge of giving up. Like latency issues usb hubs sometimes work properly sometimes dont. So I would be really happy to replace it with this one :D

Hey carlo, i have been DJ'ing on my DDJ-800 for about 1 to 1,5 years now, and my current janky laptop is basically on its last legs. Its buffering constantly and it messes up my sets. As a (nearly) broke college student this would definitely be a welcome gift.
After buying all the dj gear a new powerfull laptop would be super handy!

I have been Djing as a hobby since last year with my DDJ 400. However, since I'm still a student, I can only DJ with my old Acer Laptop, which works but it does have a bit delay.

Okay.....so when l wanted to start a career in DJing, all attempts to get a teacher failed. And then l decided to go online to "search" l dont remember what l typed in though but all l wanna say is you are the very first DJ UA-cam recommended to me and l have been following your tutorials ever since, No teacher physically and l have been able to master the art of mixing by just watching and practicing what you teach. This laptop would really boost my confidence since it would prove my efforts wasn't a waste of time 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Well... After 33 years in the oilfield I was laid off! Due to Covid the oilfield is a mess! I decided to go into business for myself and I wanted to do something I enjoyed. So I chose something that involved music. At 52, learning to be a DJ ought to be a hoot! I could use all the help I can get! A nice laptop would go a long ways. Thanks, Mark.
I am getting back into Djing and relearning everything now that it's all digital. I use an iMac right now and have been searching for the perfect laptop. I want to be able to enter the DJ world again with equipment I can tote around and rely on.
