Intro: so, this is Ice being reforged. The Stark ancestral sword was used to behead Ned and stayed in King’s Landing after his death. Tywin has always dreamt about owning a Valyrian sword, since the Lannister ancestral Valyrian blade Brightroar was lost in unknown circumstances almost 3 centuries ago. And know, he has 2.
Yep. Valyrian steel swords are a very limited quantity. The way to make them has been lost with time.
Not entirely unknown circumstances. He went on an adventure to old Valyria, bringing along the sword, and vanished.
A hubris very in line with the family at large.

@@1stCainiteI noticed while going over George's two published histories that Lannisters just up and disappear at an alarming rate lol. I'm sure it has some callback to Lann The Clever that I myself am not clever enough to correlate.

Definitely if one is talking about the one best scene in tv, in isolation and not an entire episode... that last scene from 4-1 is by far the tops. Winner Winner Chicken Dinner.

Mellisandre did say that she saw a darkness in Arya, and that she would shut many eyes forever. Looks like that journey has begun.
The travels with Arya and the Hound are some of my favorite moments in the show... I love they way they play off each other.
Arya's look at the end! She was a kid who just opened all her presents on Christmas morning, and received everything she wanted.
I love aryas storyline. It is so powerful and dark and twisted. Yet she keeps moving forward
100% agree with you: this is my favorite premiere of the show. Season 4 does not disappoint. In my view, it is the most consistently good season, from start to finish: stellar premiere and finale and a string of amazing episodes in between.
Truly agree. I’ve fully wrapped season 4 and each episode felt like the blink of an eye
Most episode titles can be applied twice throughout the episode. In this case, firstly you see ‘Ice’, Ned’s sword get melted down to forge 2 new swords but secondly, and most sentimentally, you say goodbye to ‘Ice’ and welcome back to ‘Needle’.

The more you watch, the more you slightly appreciate Tywin. After mastering this show, Tywin is one of my favorite characters.
Tywin is playing the gave on an entirely different level. I find it easy to appreciate his strategic mind even when he hurts my heart
Pedro is playing a bad ass, but he does that well...like Joel and Din Djarin. Obryn is definitely one of the best characters in this show.
Arya is my favorite character of the show. Mel predicted her darkness and it's no wonder. Her mother, Father, and Brother killed, and another brother crippled. She feels alone and vengeful and is slowly developing the need to strike back!

⏯️ hearing you refer to Arya making the determination to become an assassin and get her own horse as "cute" - some people are probably going to give you some grief over that. But take it from Old woman. There will always be a place in this society for women to be called upon to be warriors in one way or another. That response tells me you're probably one of the first ones to step up in those situations. Game recognizes game. 🧡
