I took away my daughter's truck because she was having trouble showing respect... She ran way out of frustration and it took 12 days to get her home from her rich friend's family. She was mad that I still wouldn't give her truck back until she could prove she could be respectful and safe. As I was trying to "deprogram" her from her time away, I pulled in the driveway and looked up to heaven and asked my Dad for help. That instant, this song (that I had never heard before) came on the radio. I knew that I was doing the right thing even if it made her mad. I shared the video with her. She said, but I don't have a dad. I said, you're right, so I have to do both jobs which makes it even harder for me. But I hold you accountable because I give a darn! What is right is not always easy, but I do it because I care. Bless you for this song that opened up that conversation between my daughter and I and helped us move forward.

Dillon: I’ve said it before and I will say it again…this is one of the most powerful songs I have ever heard! Lost my dad at 21 and I will be 50 in 3 months. My son will be 16 next month and we are living in this moment as we speak just as I lived it with my dad some 30 plus years ago. Not a day goes by that I don’t miss my dad and I still have a lot of regrets for things I said or put he and my Mom through as a teen! This song will resonate with a lot of people! Love your music, bro!! Keep it up! Tony
I heard this song on the radio this morning on my way to work, and immediately sent a link to my Father so he could listen. I got emotional hearing the words, because my Dad always told me there was a reason for everything he ever said or did. It wasn't to steal my joy, or because he wanted to be a jerk. It was because he cared, and sometimes a child needs tough love so that one day they will grow up to be somebody. I'm thankful for everything that man ever taught me. I just hope I can be half the dad that he was. I have a 5 year old, 10 month old, and two bonus kids at age 11 and 12. My only goal is for them to come to me one day and say "Thank you, Dad. I get it. I understand. And I'm grateful." Much love to all the Dad's out there. The ones who get up, put their work boots on, and go to a job that they often times feel like isn't good enough to provide what their family wants. Let me assure you, if you're supplying the Needs, the ability to supply the Wants will come in due time. Keep your head up gentlemen. Continue to set an example that they can pass down to their children one day. I'll share what my Dad told me when I became a dad myself: "Son, being a parent doesn't come with a handbook or a how-to guide. It's an every day process of trial and error." Truer words have never been spoken. It isn't always easy. But it's a journey worth seeing through. Much love.
Absolutely love this song. Just wish my son was still alive so I could play it for him... He was the Son of Mama and Dad that gave a Damn.. He was just too young to understand
No idea who needs to hear this, but your job, your desires, your hobbies, your behavior, your relationship with your spouse, your relationship with the triune God - everything you do - is eternal. And the purpose is to glorify God in all these things, and then to give it to your kids and say, "Here, child, go and give it to your's... for the glory of God." Be present and be intentional.
I heard this song on the radio at work for the first time last week. I literally stopped what I was doing just to listen it is that captivating. It’s been years since the last time that’s happened. Amazing song!
same, I listen to everything and haven't listened to much country lately....hubby had the station on. I stopped in my tracks. I am raising two teenage boys and married to a first responder...it's so tough. Country just does the greatest job speaking about real life.
Unconditional love and support from my father, damn I wish I wasn't so stubborn at times I'd be a lot further in life had I heeded to his advice, I am truly blessed ❤️
My son sent this to me this morning. Needless to say it brought happy tears. He has become such an amazing young man. His dad and I couldn't be more proud of him.
I just heard your voice on my radio station WKML 95.7 in Fayetteville NC. WOW!! I instantly jumped on UA-cam to look you up and this song. Powerful message and song!! Me and my old man never saw eye to eye. He cussed me everyday of my life verbally abused me and mama. He told me I would never amount to shit. He said I wouldn't graduate high school or anything. He didn't help mama buy my class ring. He didn't come to my graduation or anything. Me and mama left him moved back home where I was raised!! I broke ties with him and mama had broken ties with him way before I did. Do I regret my decision to leave him alone and never see him again.. No!! The day he died, I got the call, I told mama I wasn't going because of the sheer cruelty and verbal abuse he inflicted on me and mama. I graduated high school and went off to the Navy completed 4 yrs and 2 months so I could come back and take care of my mama. I got a bachelor's degree and master's degree. In 2000 I was involved in a head on collision which left me confined to a wheelchair for more than a year. I had to be put in a rest home because my injuries were so severe, but thank God my mama was there everyday seeing and taking care of her baby!! I WAS the SON of a MAMA who went the extra mile for me and broke her back to make sure I had when she didn't!! Even when I fucked up she was right there to pull my ass out of trouble and to make sure her baby was ok!! I LOVED my mama with every fiber in my being that's why when she faced her toughest battle in 2011, cancer, it was my time to be the Son of a Mama who gave a damn about her and I was. She passed away in 2014, but I know her faith in God took her home to be with her Lord and Saviour!! THANK YOU MAMA, I LOVE YOU for raising me to be the man I am today!! P.S. Your voice is distinctive in the fact I like the raspiness of it!! My friend you sound like Jamey Johnson and that's saying a helluva lot. ❤️❤️ Love this song. Pure country right here!!!
ha Dillon just want to tell what great song and great video. This song has inspired me more than anything in years. You being the nephew of John Michael and Eddie Montgomery that’s coming from a line of singers musicians.I Can’t forget Harold Montgomery one of the great reason’s of his son’s success. But then that whole family was great musicians and singers. I grew up in rural hollow in the back woods of Wva. My family was scattered between Wva. Ky. southern Ohio I was borne in 1957 I grew up on good old Country music. I know of the Montgomery’s from being A kid around the Cincinnati Oh area. I always wanted to be a songwriter but good old Nashville told me I was to country L O L. I was4 years old one of my favorite singers was Patsy Cline I was 5 years old when she was killed. I never told this story to very few people but I wrote a song about that 5 year old boy and Patsy Cline never really gave the song a title. But you could call it Back In The Time Of Patsy Cline or We Lost Some Country Music Singer’s. Any how your song come. flooding back to me with so many child hood memories.Back to when times were real and your neighbor was more like family.I grew up when country wasn’t cool.At least that’s what my school friends acted like they tried to hid it even tho most of them actually liked country music they were just a shamed to admit it.So my friend just keep it country because bro you are country music . A great writer is A picture painter he or she paints that picture in there mind as they write it.Learned that from my friend D A C.
My dad just sent me this video. I'm not usually into modern country music. If I listen to country music, it's old stuff like Marty Robbins. That said, I love this song for conveying an emotion I feel many men my father's age have trouble with. It allowed him to show me how important I really am to him in a way he never could have done himself.
I have two boys, both graduated college. This song brings back a lot of memories for there dad and myself. When I heard it the first time I looked up Dillion Carmichael and texted both of them to listen to this song. I also told my youngest who does he look like and he said " I look like him mom". I love my boys and have and would do anything for them. They had "though love sometimes".
Wow! Really touched my heart!!!! Thoughts of my own son, family as he was growing up. Just forwarded this video to him. The song is a heartfelt thank you to those parents who parented. Beautiful song!
Wow this song brings back memories for me. I think all of us at our house felt this way towards our dad. Thing is I can’t thank him today for making us do what he asked us to do. My dad and mom made me a better woman today. A song that says it all . Thank you!
Beautiful song. My son sent this to me last night and melted my heart and the tears rolled. Love it. Thank you for sharing this song and your talent❤️. Thank you David for sharing this with your mama❤️
i just heard this song yesterday coming home. I came home and listened again I am a Mexican mom of 2 boys and right away i send it to-them, this kind of songs is what we need for this new generation. Amo Hijos
I know it takes real life to recognize the real that brought us to the man that we are... Unfortunately life CAN be given but will always be taken from everyone, but the memory and the future that they give to you and continue to love you through is really what matters!!!
Coming from a boy who was raised by single mother along with my 2 younger siblings. This song hits me in every which way. I love you mom. Thanks for all you did and instilled in us!!
WOW, a Heart String Pulling Song that actually touches home here. I am a Proud Father and Uncle that is looked Upon also a Dad. My Nieces and Nephew had adopted me as their Father Figure over the years and Now they are All Parents too. This Song was meant for Me. Thanks You..
Such a natural born talent! All your songs are great but this one is so powerful!! Boy mom of three and them teenage years get rough but I keep pushing. ❤️
I lost my second son DJ 18 years ago at the Young Age of 26, 💔💔💔, he left two young sons, my grandsons which I am not able to see but I get to see their pictures, Someday I Pray 🙏🙏🙏. Missing you my Son DJ, BEST Son in the world ❤️❤️❤️
Just heard this song for first time today. My dad passed away December 23 of last year. I miss him. This song made me pull over on my way from work cause I couldn't see through the tears......miss you mom, dad, and bubba.
Your captured a very specific point in time that boys and even girls go through with their folks. I had not heard your song till just now. It pulled strings. My old man and my mom were the way they were for a reason. I am the way I am with my 16 year old son and 14 year old daughter. I know they will see the the reason why some day, just like me. There is nothing in this world I would do or give for them. Love your song. Just popped up in the feed and.....it was what I needed at that time. I'm sending it to my son and daughter. God Bless. Moms and Dads.....we give our all for kids. That is what it is all about. Thanks. I cried. It was a good thing.
A great song. I adopted my grandson’s (17 (almost 18) and 7. I love those boys and in raising them find myself remembering what my dad ( whom I miss every day ) taught me about family.
Granddaughter of grandparents who had a huge part in raising and guiding me. My grandfathers were my Dad. My grandma’s were strong mother figures, I miss them every day.💕
Sad to say, but I had never heard of this artist before. Dillon has such a comforting voice and this is an amazing song. I am now a fan and will be listening to him a lot more!! So happy I came across this!!
Thanks Dillon, this song reminded me what a great mom and dad I have, at 24 there has been ups and downs but they have always stood by me after my mistakes and have always forgiven my shortcomings. I am reminded by this song how important it is to put in perspective the value of good parents in this world that is falling apart.
Dillon I heard this song yesterday on the radio I have never heard it before and it was the best Christmas present i could've gotten im getting married in april and I've been going through a tough time financially because of the wedding and life in general so I wasn't able to give my parents the Christmas they deserved... My mom and I haven't been able to choose a song for our mother son dance. My fiancé and i heard your song at 1:30am on the radio on our way home from Christmas and all my fiancé said was that's it that's what you should dance with your mom too. I sent it to my mom this morning and she called me soon after all she said is "that's it". I could hear her all choked up. She is a strong woman and you had her in tears. Thankyou Dillon your a talent and deserve all the best going forward!
Oh man you definitely hit the nail on the head with this song. I have three sons and this has happened to many times. Thank you for such an awesome song. This should be a number 1 song
I sang this song to my parents the other night at a gig. My mom started crying and my dad got misty eyed. They've been married for 46 years. When people ask me to play my favorite cover song, I play this one. 🙂❤️💯. Thank you
I lost my mom 6 years ago. Every time I hear this song I cry. At this minute I'm crying. Love your mother & dad, they will be gone like that. Thanks for this song.
Love this song!!! Love you & your 3 of your uncle's!!! Miss your uncle T-roy everyday!! My Momma always said if any of me or my brothers were mad at her when we were kids then she's doing her job as our Mother!! Miss you Momma
Such a special song! I'm proud to be a 'Daughter' of A... Both of my folks are long passed ~ thank you for putting the appreciation I have for both of them into song. 💖
Blessed with3 grown sons. It was awesome raising them but like any family there were challenges. This song resonates strong. I didn’t hear from them what a great job me and their mother did till their late twenties. Great song.
The first time I heard this song my brother's girlfriend grandson came to stay with us because he wasn't getting along with his dad and step mom. His birth Mom was killed in a car wreck when he was six years old and his little brother was around three for years it was just the three of them his fifteen years old now . He talks to his Dad and little brother every day. Every time I hear this song it makes me think of them. I told him that I decided it to him and his dad. Thank you for a great song. Paula LaGuire
lost my Dad years ago and this song made me think of him. Never thought of him as a hero till i heard this. Lord thank thank you for giving me to him and for the time we had together.
Just heard this song for the 1st time the other day on country radio, It stopped me in my tracks, and the tears rolled down my face as I have a 32 yo son. This song really touched my heart, Thank you for such great music!!❤
Dang boy that was beautiful.......n those eyes r gorgeous 😍.......thank u 4 such an emotional heart wrenching song.......I, myself lost my dad in 2014....my mom in 1990.....I'm an orphan at almost 63 years old 😢
A girl from Aragon GA, an hour above Atlanta. This song touched my ❤️ heart. It says exactly how I feel about my 5 daughters. My children are grown now and they are from a broken home. So I just say a girl of a mama who gives a damn. AND I DO. Thank you for telling it like it is. 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹,🌹 One rose was a miscarriage.
I saw these guys in concert last night they put on a great show. "" Sawing logs"had me laughing and " Son a of" had me crying. I'm a new fan! I can't wait to hear more.
I didn't have a good father. I am a woman but I have a Father in Heaven he taught me lots of life lessons. I had my moments where I would scream and cry and be angry as a child but I had times where he would come to me and I would hear the firmness and gentleness in his voice and it got me settled down
Stopped listening to country a while back… my dad just sent this to me last night. Made me cry been listening to it all day. This hits home ❤ I’m lucky to still be blessed with my parents still being here today.
If the world has a Dad like my father who didn't have much of a education but was a genius in so many ways and you didn't want to get on his bad side and then I was always on his bad side but he never stopped loving me! Didn't say it, maybe 4 5 times that I am able to remember, I'd give anything to tell him that I was wrong and I am thankful for all he did for us growing up! Love you daddy!
I can still remember the night when my dad and I got into it so bad that I stormed out. I had no idea where I was gonna go or even where I would sleep that night. I was just so mad, so frustrated... When I was in high school I started singing and songwriting. Every single performance I ever did Dad was in the back. I could see him standing there waiting for me to go on. I don't think he missed a single performance. He saved his lunch money for two years to buy me my first guitar. More than 40 years later I still have it. He wasn't perfect. What parent is? But I've never been ashamed to say that he was my dad.
I took away my daughter's truck because she was having trouble showing respect... She ran way out of frustration and it took 12 days to get her home from her rich friend's family. She was mad that I still wouldn't give her truck back until she could prove she could be respectful and safe. What is right is not always easy, but I do it because I care. Bless you for this song that opened up that conversation between my daughter and I and helped us move forward.
God does move mysteriously, don't He!
Good job momma
Stay strong 💪
May you feel the Lord's hand of protection on your daughter and his wisdom on you as you both go through this time.

"Son, being a parent doesn't come with a handbook or a how-to guide. It's an every day process of trial and error."
Truer words have never been spoken.
It isn't always easy. But it's a journey worth seeing through.
Much love.
My brother sent this to our father the day before he died. No one saw it coming.
Absolutely love this song. Just wish my son was still alive so I could play it for him... He was the Son of Mama and Dad that gave a Damn.. He was just too young to understand
I lost my brother last month. He was also loved by a mama and a dad, and brother.
So sorry for your loss.
I'm so sorry to hear that, we aren't supposed to bury our kids , I don't know what I would do or how to cope without my son being here
He heres it and he is with you both, He knows you loved him! Trust me he knows and heres this song
No idea who needs to hear this, but your job, your desires, your hobbies, your behavior, your relationship with your spouse, your relationship with the triune God - everything you do - is eternal. And the purpose is to glorify God in all these things, and then to give it to your kids and say, "Here, child, go and give it to your's... for the glory of God."
Be present and be intentional.
I was meant to read this. Thank you.
Amen
Cousin we are the sons and babies of our mommas. Kentucky proud!!!
Hi Christie
Hi.., greetings from Keanu .., how are you doing and how was the weather over there...
@cbilky2914 Son of a momma, son of a dad who gave a care. Cleveland, Tennessee proud!
My son sent this to me! It touched me deep in my soul.THE BEST SONG ON THE WORLD.I wish all parents could have a relationship like ours.
Same here🎉
I heard this song on the radio at work for the first time last week. I literally stopped what I was doing just to listen it is that captivating. It’s been years since the last time that’s happened. Amazing song!
I heard it today for the first time and literally stopped to had to hear ever lyric.
same, I listen to everything and haven't listened to much country lately....hubby had the station on.
People don't give unconditional love only God and dogs do that. I love Dillion Carmichael he's awesome.
This hits home for me
Dillion I still listen to this morning and night. My two boys Tate and Tyler's ring tone this song.
This will get a million views before the end of this year! You can't write a song with more love and straight to the heart like this!
Everytime I hear this song, the waterworks start overflowing. This is a great song, with awesome lyrics, a true to life meaning, and sung wonderfully.
My son sent this to me this morning. Needless to say it brought happy tears. He has become such an amazing young man. His dad and I couldn't be more proud of him.
I so Love this & I love seeing some Familiar faces !!!! What a Wonderful video for a Great song !!! Love ya Dillon !!!!♥️🥰♥️🇨🇦
I am moved to (happy) tears evertime I hear this song. The world needs more songs like this one :)
So sorry for the infringe on your privacy. Beautiful song. Hello
Just sent this to my mom and dad. They’re both 78. The very reason I am what I am.
ha Dillon just want to tell what great song and great video.
I lost my step dad back on June 3rd. He was an always will be a Great Dad! I love you Dad, forever. Ross Cleveland Evers!
Hello Kim 👋 how are you ?
Wow! Really touched my heart!!!! Thoughts of my own son, family as he was growing up. Just forwarded this video to him. The song is a heartfelt thank you to those parents who parented. Beautiful song!
Dillan is too underrated he make beautiful music and Zach Brian does as well.
Wow this song brings back memories for me. I think all of us at our house felt this way towards our dad. Thing is I can’t thank him today for making us do what he asked us to do. My dad and mom made me a better woman today. A song that says it all . Thank you!

i just heard this song yesterday coming home.
Well Thanks girls!!! Church was really tough but got 2 boys I love more than life! That's beautiful tears!

Hi.., greetings from Keanu .., how are you doing and how was the weather over there...
Saw this group in Lafayette, LA, opening up for Brooks and Dunn last night and they are a fantastic live band.
This song hits so close!! Thinking back, all that my parents did-that I hated them for then, made me into the person I am today!
I lost my second son DJ 18 years ago at the Young Age of 26, 💔💔💔, he left two young sons, my grandsons which I am not able to see but I get to see their pictures, Someday I Pray 🙏🙏🙏. Missing you my Son DJ, BEST Son in the world ❤️❤️❤️
Hi.., greetings from Keanu .., how are you doing and how was the weather over there...
What an amazingly written and sung song, Dillon is a great story teller with a great voice so much better than some the country music made today
This song speaks a thruth all to many people don’t get these days. I try to instill these things in my boys everyday. So much power in these words.
I lost my dad a little over a year ago out of the blue. I put my folks through the ringer. I now have several boys of my own. This song….hits home.
I also lost my Dad on December 3rd I love and miss him I have a 15 year old Hope he learns from me like I did from my father!
I love you. Thank you for giving them a reason to go home. I pray it spreads like a dry forest, touching all of those who could not see until now.
YO DILLON YOUR DAD MATT OUT ME ON YOUR MUSIC AND YOUR THE ONLY COUNTRY ARTIST I LISTEN TO NOW!!!! KEEP GOING BRO. YOUR SOOOO GOOD.
Great song, lost my Dad 14 years ago and my Mom 2 years ago they made me who I am and Love them for it, Miss them every day
The words just fit perfectly to what growing up was all about. If things were still this way, the world would not be in the shape that it's in.
Now this is country! Wonderful!
Oh man you definitely hit the nail on the head with this song. I have three sons and this has happened to many times. Thank you for such an awesome song. This should be a number 1 song
Hi.., greetings from Keanu .., how are you doing and how was the weather over there...
Best song this year, Needs more attention to it , way under rated song!
My 23 year old son who is very stoic just sent me this. Wow. Never had heard it before. I'd be a liar if I didn't admit that I'm a train wreck now
I sang this song to my parents the other night at a gig. My mom started crying and my dad got misty eyed. They've been married for 46 years. When people ask me to play my favorite cover song, I play this one. 🙂❤️💯. Thank you
Absolutely Love This!! ❤️❤️❤️ Mama to 3 Country Raised Young Men & Gigi to My Lil Country Raised Grandson, No Other Way!! ❤️🙌🏻🙏🏻🥰

Love this song!!! Love you & your 3 of your uncle's!!! Miss your uncle T-roy everyday!! My Momma always said if any of me or my brothers were mad at her when we were kids then she's doing her job as our Mother!! Miss you Momma

Once again You, Dillon, melted my heart.
It doesn't get any plainer than this one. Priceless!
lost my Dad years ago and this song made me think of him. Never thought of him as a hero till i heard this. Lord thank thank you for giving me to him and for the time we had together.

Heard this on the radio just a minute ago and got home and had to share it with my family! Such a good song!
Way to go Dylan Carmichael I am very proud of you congratulations beautiful singer Mr Dylan Carmichael 👏🎉🎉🎉🎉👏🎉🎉🎉🎊🎊
I sure hope we see this song on top of things for a long while. You're blessed if you have or had parents like these.
100%. This song tore me up. My son is grown ..its been a bumpy road but we're on the other side now.
I wish there was a version of this song just for moms and sons
I raised 3 sons
Dad did nothing
My 3 boys are my whole world 💙💙💙
If the world has a Dad like my father who didn't have much of a education but was a genius in so many ways and you didn't want to get on his bad side and then I was always on his bad side but he never stopped loving me!
Ein schönes Lied, mit viel Tiefe.., Liebe Grüße aus Deutschland
