🌻 ABOUT COSMOPOLITAN CORNBREAD 🌻
In 2016 my husband and I retired from active duty army family life and planted roots in Alabama. We started a homestead from scratch, and shared that journey here on UA-cam. In 2022 we answered the call to the mountains of Arkansas, where we are starting that journey once again.
I post videos to encourage families to embrace growing food, cooking real food and living a simpler, slower, faith-filled life. I am a whole bible believer, and share my passions for the home and the Father.
Here on Cosmopolitan Cornbread some of what you will see include:
🌻 Cooking from Scratch 🌻Homesteading
🌻 Raising Chickens 🌻 Raising Goats
🌻 Gardening 🌻 Organic Gardening 🌻 Food Preservation
🌻 Bible Devotionals 🌻 Faith 🌻Whole Bible 🌻
🌻 Women Homesteaders 🌻DIY 🌻 Natural Living 🌻 Natural Health
🌻 Home Ec Lessons 🌻 How to Cook, Bake and Can
Getting back to the basics as the Father intended.

Poor MilkDud, he really deserves that cosy bed in the greenhouse. Thanks to Mr Smith for his quick reaction and rescue mission. I'm so glad that your boy has nothing worse that puncture wounds and shock (although shock can be fatal) I hope he realises that staying in at night is a wise thing to do.
I hope your headaches reduce as time goes on.
Take care, have a blessed week ahead xx
MilkDud is a blessed cat! He found you and Mr. Smith as well as escaping the coyotes. Glad he is ok.
FYI. Consider putting a cork or cut piece of pool noodles, anything on the ends of those stakes. Bending over looking at your plants, those stakes could result in you wearing a pirate patch over your eye. Almost happened to me. Stake missed my eye but made a nice hole in my forehead. Learned my lesson. Keep up the videos, love them
Milkdud is a lucky boy to have such a loving and caring home. So glad he’s going to be ok! I pray your migraines get better❤
Poor Milk Dud! I’m glad he’s ok. He looks so much like our rescue Claire. Sadly we lost her to feline disease. It warmed my heart to watch your sweet fellow getting love ❤️
Sorry to hear about Claire. 😢
Homeless animals seem to know just who to adopt, and he picked right with you! Love your channel. Make sure you take care of you too! GOD bless
Oh my goodness. I’m so glad that Milk Dud is okay. Your squash plants look healthy.
This was a very good video. Milkdud is a precious baby. He’s worth saving.
Here the majority of our coyotes are Coywolves and coydog. They are huge and unfortunately not scared of humans at all. Glad milkdud was saved!
My heart jumps with joy bc you saved that beautiful cat. My Dad built a dog house for our cat Taffy! She loved that dog house. Dad even put a heat mat in there during the winter. That cat did not want to be an inside cat, but knew where he lived. He knock on the door to be feed..Lol… Sweet Taffy died an old, happy gal. Geez….poor little Milkdud, but I’m soooo happy she lived!!
He was so lucky to come to you all. Thank you for being kind and caring for Milk Dud. Oh my goodness so thankful you came up on the Yorkie!!! Bless Milk Dud's heart, he is so lucky to have you all to look after him. I hope he wants to always stay in the green house. lol love how he looked at the treats when you shook the jar! I wish Mr. Smith had been able to dispatch one or both coyotes!!! Your pepper plants look great. I just planted sweet potatoes slips this afternoon. Hope they do well. Your squash vines look great and zucchini also! All the best!
Poor Mr Milkdud! Glad he is ok.
Us too!
Coyotes, are terrible about killing cats. Poor little Milkdud. People have moved into their territory so they don’t have a lot to eat, but darn it, no one likes for them to kill family pets either. So glad you are the one who found the little dog and got her safely to her owners. Dogs are being dumped in town here, it’s ridiculous!! IcePick Migraines are horrible and can be related to trigeminal neuralgia. That’s what has happened to me, and I didn’t get kicked in the head. You might talk to your Dr. about that. Hope you feel better, these tornadoes and storms aren’t helping a lot!
So happy Milk Dud will be okay.
My first garden this year. Yes I am learning a lot from you Constance. So happy Milk Dud is ok. A coyote almost got my little dog once as they had her trapped, but I was able to rescue her before they got her. She was so shaken up and had cried out the death scream, (I call it). After that she remembered the smell of them and knew when they were close in our area and would not go outside during that time. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.
Aww I’m glad he’s ok.
Thanks be to God that Milk Dud was saved!❤
Awe ..Milk Dud! Thank you Mr Smith for your quick actions! My lil boy died 2 yrs ago from cancer he was only 8. Now,I know where he got the cancer from (environment his new home). 🥲 I am so Happy you saved your lil boy too. Love the tool holder! Oh my Constance..I am concerned about your skull 😞🙏🙏🙏Blessing’s
Thank you Laura! Yes, I’m glad that the hubby was awake when it happened and heard.
I’ve got a thick skull. I’ll be good 😊
An ice pick migraine was why I was recently hospitalized! Oh they’re so very painful. I’ll be praying for you!
They are awful!
I love this long, chatty vlog!!
Poor Milk Dud!!! Coyotes are wicked, I live in town & we have coyotes…ugh! He does look a bit like a rag doll kitty. ❤
So glad your Mr Smith was able to save milk dud. He seems to be the best lazy fur boy ever. So sorry this happened. We have coyotes also and they are not my favorite animals to deal with. Have gotten a few of my hens over the years. Hopefully you won't have to deal with them again. 🙏🤗🙏
Oh my 😢 poor sweet baby! He’s used up too many of those 9 lives already! How scary those coyotes were bold enough to come right up to the house and grab him. So glad you guys were able to find him and help him after! I always worry about my outdoor cat at night too with predators, but he’s so unhappy being kept inside for too long.
I loved your story about your beautiful cat! Quick thinking and moving on the part of Mr. Smith. I have, since I found you on UA-cam, loved your stories and recipes, and tips, and your sharing of your life. Thank you! May God’s blessings just be showered on you! 💖
Thank you!
So glad MilkDud is doing okay. Our animals are now all indoors at night. When you live rural, it is the only safe place. Coyotes are becoming more dangerous as they lose their fear of humans and human homes - we had four last year in our rural neighborhood, and due to their aggression, they were removed for the safety of the children. It's a miracle MilKDud lived...he has truly used a few of his lives.
I'm so glad that Milk Dud is recovering . The squash plants are looking so good. I don't think I've heard of ice pick migraines. I have to research that. Any migraine is terrible. Take care.
Milk Dud is such a lucky little fellow….summer squash is my all time favorite in the garden, I can eat them every day during the growing season, even with my breakfast! I like your idea of staking them. Will give it a try! 😊
So glad you are ok with your old injury.
Thank goodness Milk Dud is okay, he seems like such a sweet boy. I purchased one of those garden hods from that man after you showed yours on a video and I absolutely love it. I am envious of your squash plants, lol, they look fantastic! Mine here in S Florida are about done and I won’t be able to plant more until the fall when it’s gets cooler.
In just learned that cats should have wet can food. Just giving dry can cause kidney problems. So happy your cat is ok. I just watched a video earlier and a orange cat was attacked by a coyote on there porch. Owners must not have been home poor cat. It finally climbed a post on the porch and he had a hard time, but they finally left the cat alone. My son planted hot ones near sweet ones and he always saves seeds not all are hot.
I am glad you’re ok. Beautiful squash ❤
So happy milk dud is okay! Your zucchini looks amazing.
Poor little Milkdud☹ darn coyotes! They better watch out for Bestsy!!! Your garden is looking great! I recently found two leaves with squash bug eggs this past week and strange thing was they laid them on the top of the leaves instead of underneath. Strange. It was so nice of you to reunite that Yorkie with its family. How did it get by a highway I wonder? Look forward to the healing video! 😘❤🙏🏻✨
The family has a little girl about the age of Bean. Kids that age like to "help" and apparently let the dog out right as they were leaving the house, so they didn't even realize she was missing yet.
Squash bugs *usually* lay on the underside, but they will do it on top too. I think they do that if the leaf is flipped from the wind, or right under another leaf where it is shaded. Sneaky little beasts!
Oh, and those 'yotes are more likely to meet one of Betsy's big brothers..... ;)
I hate to sound like a mama but I would think it would be wise to go have, shall I say, your head examined. Sooner rather than later. I am not the type to go to the dr for much. But listening to you describe what’s going on I would say there’s enough to warrant a visit.
I’m trying to grow my squash plants vertically this year. Don’t have room for sprawl and agree that it is “supposed to” help with the squash bugs. We shall see.
I have enjoyed today's video. ☺️ 😊
You go mr. Smith! Thank goodness he heard the ruckus! I didn’t even plant squash yet…I been so disheartened by the wasp and her baby she leaves in my plants….they get up big and beautiful and start bearing thenDIE OVERNIGHT, I’ll buy it at the farmers market and save myself the grief this year. Our other stuff is looking good though….cant wait for that first ripe tomato.
Shalom Shalom
So happy Milk Dud is ok and healing from his attack and thankful he has such good humans to take care of him the squashes looks great . Please maybe get those scans for your head you just never know what side effects just take it easy .
So glad you shared updates.
Awe so glad Milk Dud is ok. Scary stuff!❤
Thanks for the update on your health. When I ran my finger into the table saw it healed but there seems to be permanent nerve damage. It’s still tender years later. Glad you are well! Thanks for the garden tour. Can you put those green verticals planters indoors? Or too messy?
The excess water comes out of the bottom, however if they are placed on something that can catch the water, I can’t see any reason why not.
Poor baby Milk Dud, hope he feels better soon.
aww Milk Dud ♥ what a good boy
Candice- what is the shed sign on the left in video? Looks interesting and pretty. Glad Milk Dud is ok. So cute!
I will show it in my Friday video :) (I've already recorded the others for this week)
🥰🥰🥰
🙏🏼♥️
🙋♀️ question - the seed tray looked interesting.
An ad just popped up on my fb feed. ( strange ) never seen this before your video and now it popped up.
Anyway, was wondering how you like it.
The seed tray is from Bootstrap Farmer. I actually really like these. They are a very durable plastic, designed to last for years. The bottom is open so that you can easily push the starts up out of the cells with your finger.
@@CosmopolitanCornbread thank you 😊
The timing with the cock crow is excellent! 😂 Milk Dud is a cutie.
👍
❤❤❤❤🕊️
Milkdud just won the Cat Lottery.
Great job saving Milk Dud! I was wondering if you have ever had to deal with bugs, fungus, mildew etc. in your gardens? If so, how did you conquer that? 😊
Oh yes! The south is full of all those things. Neem oil is my go-to for many things because it deals with many pests, but is also anti-fungal. Pruning for air-flow helps. Nothing is perfect though. In Alabama I had the two big gardens and planted as much as I could because I knew eventually the pests or blight would take over and bring the season to an end. Just trying to find a balance when doing things organically. Space here is currently a bit limited, but over time I'll expand the garden area as much as possible and utilize every square inch that I can. :)
@@CosmopolitanCornbread thank you so much. I'm only a couple years gardening and it's a bit overwhelming (the things that could go wrong lol). Thank you for your podcasts which are so informative. I will need some Neem oil in my life. Blessings to you! 💕
Random question: do you have an actual playlist for your move to Arkansas? I love re-watching them but have been looking thru last year’s videos to find them.
I don't. I hadn't thought to make one of that. :) Now I'm wondering which videos would actually need to be part of such a playlist.
@@CosmopolitanCornbread So understandable and no worries as I can keep looking through the vids. It was such a leap of faith and I love seeing your family walk through all those changes one step at a time.
Dont know if it makes a difference but you have a little critter, mouse I think living in your yellow squash. Saw it dive in when you were tieing it up.
It was a little lizard. We have them all over the place :)
i think you should get evaluated by your doctor. if not for yourself, then for your family. head injuries can cause seizures, stroke, hemoridge…etc.
You look so familiar to me did you used to live in Dallas-Fort Worth in Texas
Nope. I lived in the Ft Hood area twice back in the early 90s, but never the Dallas area.
Donkeys kill coyotes, good protectors in general and the donkey doorbell works, fiend has Jesus donkeys.
don't put bell pepper with others. cross pollination will keep them small and not taste worth eating. VOE voice of experience
