    Yo Ken. Hope you are doing well. This is one of those crazy videos (have watched it like 5 times). You definitely needed a larger net. lol
    Heading out to Idaho in August. I would be so stoked to catch 1 large brown. Have caught nothing but rainbows in the upper Henry’s Fork. Will try below Mesa falls.
    Last year I was lucky enough to catch a salmon fly hatch on the south fork.
    Looking forward to your next adventure.

      Oh the struggle was real for sure! 😉
      I use a wooden net from Japan that isn’t cheap! So I didn’t want to fly with my larger net. I didn’t mind it that much until that one fish where my net got stuck in the tree and I almost lost the fish netting it. 😂
      Luckily I am friends with the Rising rep and he hooked me up with one for the rest of the trip.
      Needless to say I now travel with my big net. You can actually see me using my large net on my 2020 trips out west.

      @@Wish4Fish I did notice you had that curved handle net and that is not a cheap net whatsoever like I said your videos are amazing keep them coming I really appreciate the fact that you do a lot of wading and not just drift boat fishing out there I was wondering how hard it was to Wade in those big Rivers I live out east and all we do is Wade fishing and are creeks are much smaller it looks like you're really putting in some work but it ends up being well worth it

    • @Wish4Fish
      @Wish4Fish  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, that is a Japanese style net. Majority of the Japanese net makers use the curved handle.
      Thank you very much. I appreciate that. I am headed to Belize in a couple weeks so stay tuned! I will be live updating on Instagram if you're on there.
      Where about do you live? You can a very similar western river experience on the east coast as well. The Upper Delaware system or the South Holston are excellent examples. Bigger rivers with great bug diversity. Especially West Branch of the Delaware.
      Bigger rivers like that can definitely be a bit intimidating at first. Although, trout are trout and once you can read the river they will be in the same spots as small streams.

    I fished this area back around 1980 during the Green Drake hatch but never caught any browns just rainbows and a few whitefish. How did the browns get in there and when.

    • @Wish4Fish
      @Wish4Fish  5 років тому +1

      That must mean you were fishing upstream of Mesa Falls. That prevents them for going upstream of that.

  • @tyanez
    @tyanez 5 років тому +1

    That was amazing. What a fishery. In other videos you talked about your set-up a bit more, but I didn't see it this time, unless I missed it. You were using a hopper/dropper rig here? Are you using 4X tippet? Also, you started off with a huge (appropriately huge) net, but then switched to a smaller one whic made netting those monsters a bit more challenging. Why did you do that? Someone mentioned this below, but I also liked how you left in some footage of trying to land a fish that was not as graceful as planned - like the rest of us! Awesome. Peace, dude.

    • @Wish4Fish
      @Wish4Fish  5 років тому

      Thank you very much Tomas. My equipment is always in the description below the video. I was changing flies, set up and tippet too often to explain. This is also the case where I can't tell you what I was exactly using. Some stuff has to be kept secret ;-)
      The footage was edited out of order. I brought my smaller net because I didn't want to fly with my larger one. I use a hand made net from Japan that is made out of wood and extremely expensive. After a couple close calls a friend of mine gave me a Rising net which made life much easier.

    what type /make of landing net is that?

    • @Wish4Fish
      @Wish4Fish  4 роки тому

      The orange one is a Rising. The wooden one is a Mouwood.
      Side note- Rising net bag already ripped. Which is why I hate rubber nets.

    Bro these are GINORMOUS trout compared to what we find on the East Coast. That horse watching you fish had me LOL. Great stuff m as always. 🤙👍

    • @Wish4Fish
      @Wish4Fish  5 років тому +1

      Haha, Hey, you can catch trout just as big on the Upper Delaware, Soho and Watauga. Not as many or let alone as many in one day but those streams definitely hold MONSTERS.
      Thank you very much for the kind word and support.

      @@Wish4Fish for sure hitting Watauga this fall. Probably set up shop near Boone. The upper Delaware might have to wait for spring. Too many hunts and fly trips planned already. The best kind of problems to have.🤣

      When you're in Boone you should hit up the Cardinal! If you like beer you have to hit up the bottle shop Peabody's! Talk to Kirby! He's like a beer encyclopedia and a fly fisherman to boot!
      If you're a destination fly fisherman you should join us for one of my hosted trips! I have 6 spots left for Belize Aug 3rd - 10th if you want to come! :D

      Benjamin Rocket get up to Maine and you’ll find some 5lb Brook Trout and Landlocked Salmon in some of the non pressured waters

      Wish4Fish crazy the dry flies produce that well. Average fish size is unreal for the Henry’s fork

    • @Wish4Fish
      @Wish4Fish  5 років тому +1

      That's nothing. I fished the Green River after this and I used a size 2 dry fly all day from 6am - 9:30p. That is also NOT the average size for most on the Henry's Fork by the way.
