I’m a vegetarian and I appreciate your 1. Using trashed hides and 2. Using all of the animal when you hunt - this is all a very natural way of living and respectful of the animals.
Same!!
Thank you for understanding.
@@Linneaandakelablessings to you and yours always 🌱
I appreciate the sentiment, having grown up around hunting and happily eaten my share of venison. That said, putting money into the pockets of commercial meat producers by buying their waste products isn't effective if the goal is to respect animals or reduce our ecological impact.
It is a beautiful hide, though.
@ this wasn’t from a commercial meat producer :) it was from a small local farm owned by a lovely woman who has a passion for wool.
My ex wife passed away young and tragically a few weeks ago. This has caused me to reevaluate what I want and need in life. I want to learn to love myself and feel worthy enough to chase my dreams (and have the confidence to fall and get back up) A dear friend reminded me yesterday that 40 is not old and that I need to start dreaming again! She gave me a writing exercise entitled “Building your Dream Life” ❤ Thank you for being a beacon of light for me (and I’m sure countless others). I’ve seen comments from people in their 70s and older saying that they live vicariously through your videos… and while that makes me so happy for them… I want to go create that life. And I don’t want to regret being to scared to try.
We love you, Linnea!! You’re so inspiring ❤
I often wonder if any one will be there to want me after he's gone ..... Weird thoughts 🤔 for sure.... I am sorry about your loved one . I hope you do find peace and comfort in your self enough to love yourself.
@@j87waldo Yes. You will be wanted and loved, I promise you that 🩷
I'm sorry for your loss. Even though she was your ex, that connection always exists. And I'm glad you are at an age and hopefully physical ability to go out and create your dreams. Your kind words I'm sure are appreciated. Wishing you the very best.
I'm very sorry for your loss. But so happy to hear you are moving forward. I lost my man 17 years ago. He was in his early 50s.
Hearts ease to you for the tragic loss of your ex-wife... 💔
Tanning hides. Creating wild clay pottery. Building a studio from scratch after we've all watched you build your lovely van cabin and all that went into that build (electrical, plumbing, cabinet building). Building a garden. You never cease to amaze and inspire me. Thank you.
Her and "Isabel Paige" would make great friends☺️
Thank you so much! :)
Exact thoughts ❤
How beautifully put! I have so been so very impressed by all of these plus the beauty of her storytelling, filming & editing. So many will be encouraged and inspired I know I am!
I just know Elsa is going to absolutely love this!! How thoughtful of you to do this for her since she wasn't able to go with you to Montana to learn this beautiful way of honoring life. 🩷
:) :)
Hi Linnea! We have watched you for a long time and love you! My husband and I are in our 50s and are snowbird vanlifers (live in van Nov.-May) in a promaster. Anyhow, after being around chainsaws my whole life, it always makes me shiver when I see you operating one in flip flops. I know you are careful and skilled but please invest in some steel toe boots. My brother had a serious chainsaw injury. Thank you for sharing your life from your heart with all of us! ❤
Thank you so much for your support and concern!
Love you like a daughter or a younger sister and don't want any harm to come your way💞@@Linneaandakela
Ditto !!!!
Also, a friend of mine was gifted: “chainsaw protection chaps” which actually came in handy when the chainsaw slipped & it hit his leg and he had those chaps on or he would’ve had a big bloody gouge in his leg…
(they run about 52.00 Home Depot.)

Love your channel take care now…
Yes please. Those pants save lives. You have some big arteries in your thighs friend. Eyes and lungs deserve preservation as well. Please take care of yourself. Warm wishes.
I absolutely love the way you edit your videos. I like that. I can hear the sounds of what's going on. And what beautiful music you do choose to play doing those days. I don't care for when people just put music and you can't hear what else is going on. Great job. Editing great job on your property, building great job on your tanning. You are an amazing young lady
Yes exactly what I was going to say ❤
Aw I'm so glad you're enjoying them! Thank you so much for the feedback!
That's the hide that lead me directly from Elsa to you - thank you for all that real, honest and heartwarming content ❤
Your vlogs feel like a warm hug ❤️ Thank you
Well said.
I usually have tears in my eyes before she even starts talking! 😂❤
Aw that's really nice to hear!
@@Rachellovescheese RIGHT!!! I always have my warm cup of something ready to be relaxed. Akela’s the show stealer 🥰
Akela looked so majestic wearing the blanket at the end of the video. She knew it was something special!
To keep part of something, which was so integral to giving their life to others so they can live, and to memorialize them this way, is no different than keeping some ashes in a setting of jewelry of someone you love.
Linnea and Akela you both bring joy, laughter and love every week. I don't ever want the chapter to end, thank you for your sharing a part of your journey. Keep doing what makes you happy 😊
Aw I'm so glad you enjoy it :)
I’m sure you’ve seen it, but just in case you haven’t yet - Paul Rosolie started a UA-cam channel. Thank you for recommending his book on your channel. I love it and his cause! Now to enjoy this video 😊 Happy Sunday Linnea!
Oh I hadn't seen that - thanks for letting me know!
Love, love, LOVE!! I am currently house/dog sitting for an off-grid cob house. It makes me think of you. They built this place for the last 7 years. It’s a journey. Slow and steady. I love watching your journey. 💜
How cool! Enjoy your stay!
I love your content so much!!! You are living my dream. I’m an urban vanlifer currently parked in a relatives’ driveway while I work to save money for land as well as make the mods that will allow me to live as comfortably as I can in my van.
Thanks for showing us all what you can do as li g as you’re willing to think outside the box. (Or off the grid lol)
I dont know how many times i can say this, but i just love all your videos! The DIY projects, the pottery, the scenery, the adventures, the togetherness and family, the hides, everything! thank you so much for sharing! Your videos make my day!!
Aw thank you SO much! I'm really glad to hear it, and appreciate the feedback.
To learn is one thing to continue to learn and share your knowledge that is special. Your heart always shines. Bless you and thank you.
:) Thank you so much!
I just got on. All snuggled up on our cold rainy day to watch you be amazing. Thank you for using those hides. I had no idea the waste that happens. It came out beautiful.
Beautiful job! What an amazing and personal gift. Truly something to treasure. 💜
As always you created lots of awesomeness in this video. The poles for your shop were stunning, rich even if that makes sense. Everything you make is a work of art, so I can't wait to see how it turns out! And the hide! Wow! I can't imagine anyone not thinking it's the most beautiful gift ever! I so appreciate us getting to share all this with you. ❤
Hi Linnea & Akela!! We’ve been binge watching your videos since finding them! Wow! What a beautiful life you have! Thank you for sharing it with us! Truly, my hubby and I are so enjoying watching your adventures!
I'm so glad to hear it! :)
You’ve got so many projects!! Blessings to you all!!💚💚💚
Refreshing to watch your video first thing in the a.m. with my warm coffee!!! A wonderfully positive share...needed a "good feels moment" to start the day!!!
Thnx
Aw I'm so glad you enjoyed it! :)
You and your brother have the facial expression when you smile/laugh! It’s very endearing
Aw thank you! :) He's wonderful.
I'm at 25 minutes and 15 seconds into this video and something that is so endearing about this beautiful woman is every project or every skill or task or project like the pottery or whatever she does she puts so much time and care and thought and I love and passion she puts into everything she does and I have so much respect for her ❤I really just appreciate the person she is she's beautiful inside and out❤ just the love and the time whether it's with her family or her husband or her dogs or tanning a hide or fishing or canning or hiking all the beautiful things that she has done with so much love and care it's just remarkable❤
I love this so much, you showing Chris and Noah the skills you learned, warm nourishing campfire food and a wonderful gift for Elsa (bubs) especially when she couldn't attend x I'm sure you will teach her all you know when the time is right Xx
Your videos are so much fun to watch and I learn so much. Thank you!❤
Aw I'm so glad! :)
I just know that the "dear friend to be" has to be in Elsa Rhae's belly.. just has to be .. And how special of a gift is this to her. How special of a gift are YOU.. I swear, every week now you bring me to tears with beauty. Bless you, Linnea.. 🙌🏼
Right after i cozy'd in with a cup of coffee and a doggo to watch this video, you mentioned in the video to grab something warm and get cozy! Just had to pause it to come and say how proud i am of you and all that you've done and are doing. it's such an inspriration. Thank you for sharing.
Aw how perfect! You know the drill. :) And thank you so much!
I love that you are continuing this now that you are back on the land, also that you are teaching and incorporating Chris. I follow both of your pages and love that you have separate goals and adventures but that you always come together and support one another.
Your relationships with the beings people and animals is absolutely beautiful to watch. I was sitting here feeling sorry for myself because I am on day 5 with no power thanks to Milton’s direct hit. Your calming video was just the reminder I needed to be thankful still for what we do still have. I love camping and go primitive camping often but for some reason this is so different. Anyway thanks for being you and being my weekly dose of calm reminders to enjoy the small stuff. Blessings and I’m sure Elsa’s baby will love her beautiful skin.
I just wanted to tell you, that yours is my favourite UA-cam channel. You’ve given me so much watching pleasure over the years. Keep on keeping on x
Awesome, thanks for the transparency content details for the do’s, don’t, ups and downs. I am planning on going off grid in the future. Enjoy your venture..
another great video!! i have some catching up to do on your videos ~~ but soooooo so good to see you thriving here, Linnea! ❤
Thank you so much for watching!
Yours is my favorite channel. I savor your videos and look forward to what you're up to every week. Thank you for sharing with us. ♥
Linnea... You amaze me with every post and I find joy seeing you live your best life.
Tanning a hide looks like such dedicated hard work but so worth it. Good to see you had extras to help you thru it and enjoy each other's company. Thanks from me .
:) Thank you!
I am drinking my coffee and enjoying watching you honoring these hides, and building your studio. Love the shot of Akela with his head out the window of your van. Your brother looks like you and and very cool. The soup looks amazing. I watched one of your older videos again you were about to meet Chris !!!Have a wonderful and productive day !!!! Love you !!!
Thanks for sharing! The hides look beautiful.
I know that you thoroughly love it when your family comes and visits 🥰
It's so wonderful when they're here. We're very close! :)
@@Linneaandakela it obvious! And sweet 😊
Yay!🎉 Sunday morning with Linnea! Enjoying in my hammock chair! Both your's and Noahs hides came out amazing! Thanks for a beautiful video❤❤❤

Y’all are awesome! Your videos are full of all of the good stuff. Thank you for sharing! 💚
I'm so glad you enjoyed!
Beautiful. Lucky mother and baybee 🎉🧡
The love in all your videos is so what the world needs more of. I so appreciate you and Akela and for sharing your life and family.❤😊
Thank you so much! :)
Not Akela walking around with that skin on looking like Jon Snow! Adorable!!!
Good on you for supporting the use of the hides. A lot of people just don't get that it's better to USE it. And how much better they are than the pleather plastic that floats around.
Popular in the early 70s were rabbit coats.
This L.A. teen wore her platforms and her multi colored rabbit coat and was stylin !
Warmest coat I ever
owned.
Wow I bet!! Sounds beautiful and so so soft!
I just discover your channel and I love your contenta and way of life! Thank you for sharing it with us. It is inspiring and reminds me of my own strength to make my new life. Thank you! Gracias! Send you a hug from Caracas, Venezuela 🤗🌟
Your studio is going to rock! It is nice to have wall space for shelves etc. Live& learn . It’s all good!
omg I know Elsa is going to love it!!!!!!!
:) :)
No I agree with you my dear yes use the hide and make it into something that gives so much pleasure to those who appreciate everything you do to make them look so good 👍
The Home Depot Mug is hilarious! lol Congrats on getting the studio floor down. Cannot wait to see the build.
Thank you! :)
The skins look amazing! I'm sure your friend will treasure it! Thank you for your videos and the joy you bring! 😍
I'm so glad it brings you joy! :)
With regards to the hides, you knew exactly what I was thinking. Thank you. Thank you for making me see the beauty of the idea of giving hides a new life.
Beautiful hides, y'all did!!! I could watch you create things for hours! Hats off to you! ❤
Thank you so much!
Your skies are so beautiful outside especially that early of your morning , enjoy your coffee ☕️
Aren't they so wonderful out here? I love it!
@@Linneaandakela Yes young lady you picked one of the best places to set up your home , enjoy my dear you deserve it all that hard work you have put in with the help of Chris and both dogs such a magical wonderful place and the views are to die for or live as you do ❤️👍
Not sure if anyone has mentioned this but I just learned that tannins leached from acorns can be really helpful in tanning. Love your channel!
That’s a lot of work tanning hides. I saw some for sale at the Feast of the Hunters Moon and they were super expensive. I totally see why and can appreciate why the charge. Such good good work. Love that it’s for a baby!! ❤❤❤
Linnea, the sandals to work around power tools and nails...I don't recall where you've said you hail from technically. But that is such a Cali thing, I love it!
You are a joy to watch and I just love the relationship you have with Akela..❤
Great to wake up to a video this morning.
Have a wonderful Sunday!!
Love and Respect.... @ 25:15 Beautiful imagine with you working and the backing of the sky line... That is a great photo...
Good for you, Linnea, for tanning these hides that otherwise might be tossed away. Doing the work and bringing new life to these hides is very important.
I always love the music in your videos but this one was exceptional!
I'm so glad you enjoyed it :)
Good Morning Linnea and Akela to and Kobuk and Chris , when he is there , oh and Noah to , love to see your starting your build, and amazing beauty where your van is set up 👍❤❤❤
Your hide turned out beautiful. I learn so much from you and the life you live. You are absolutely amazing..❤
Thank you so much!
You are so inspiring. I hope she loves the hide, it’s beautiful! That soup sure looked good! Thanks again for sharing your life with all of us. ❤
Thank you so much! :)
Elsa going to love and cherish your work for a long time. Beautiful work
:) :)
I live in chainsaw country (Oregon Coast), and I have to admit that I have never seen anyone using a chain saw in flip flops! Please be careful. I know of way too many people who got injured with chain saws. Your 40 acres look really nice. Hope you get prepared for winter, although I don't know where you are and how cold it gets there. Thanks for sharing.
I’m guessing this is for Elsa. She’s going to love it! Great work!
I so enjoy following along your journey with hides, meat, & hunting. It's so interesting, beautiful, and warming. As you build and create I feel something build within me, and I think that's also beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing
I'm so glad it resonates with you too - important values! :)
Love what you’re doing!!! So beautiful!

I wish we weren't so wasteful as these hides are so useful and will last hundreds of years compared to all the plastic rubbish that pollutes our environment. You are doing so well. I remember the saying that "our creator gave each animal enough brains to cure their hide." It was what I learnt as a child to treat our farms, sheep, and cattle hides. My uncle used to make all his own clothes from them, and we would take some hides to others in the community, and they would make all sorts of things and sell them at farmers' markets.
What a special gift to receive. ❤
I love that your brother got to experience this either you! The hides turned out beautiful ❤
There is a guy that built a cabin under ground. He used all hand tools. It was a very cool process to watch. Can't wait to.warch your journey
I really appreciate you sharing your point of view in preserving an animal hide. Very thoughtful and full of respect for the animal that provided the hide.🫶
Thanks again for sharing your life. I have enjoyed your videos and seeing your adventures unfold. My life is going through changes. I 😅am getting older and more adventurous trying to figure out where I am going on land. And I enjoy living my life through your adventures. Thanks again for sharing your life. Lots of love from Oregon ❤❤❤
I’m so excited, I just woke up and I’m snuggling in bed with my dog and got this notification, perfect timing :)
Aw how lovely! Perfect timing. :)
Such a great gift! I’d love to learn how to tan a discarded hide.
I've salted hides from sheep and sent them off to be tanned! This is an amazing job you did for that beautiful baby!! You should feel really good about all your hard work!!❤ Beautiful!
Thank you so much! It's a very special process, and gift. :)
Akela looked so proud to carry that hide! ❤❤😊
i jist found found your channel and im in love. when you cut out the hides and was admiring it i actually teared up a little because what a beautiful sheepy ❤
Aw welcome and hello! I'm so glad you're here. :)
Just subscribed. I like this channel. Your raw honesty is refreshing.
Aw welcome, and thank you so much! :)
Fascinating art. Some of my ancestors in the States Ohio, Illinois, Minnesota, and Canada were trappers and taners. I never did it, but love leather and wool over nylon synthetics. Cheers
For sure! Much more sustainable and sturdy. :)
Is there anything she can't do? Hehehe
Another beautiful video, Linnea, thank you so much. Your editing, music, voiceovers, angles etc are top notch. I love your art, whatever form it takes!
Also loved seeing Noah in this video, will we get to see how his rig turned out?
Having everyone in on the hide tanning was just so heart warming. Nice to see Chris in there too, will we get to see a bit more of him in future videos?
And lastly, very cute that you called your land the "homestead" hehehe with all the cows that came to have a look at your tanning, it really did look like a homestead lol.
Lots of love, as always, from NZ xx ❤
yesss girl you gotta "hot the pot" I do it all through fall and winter too, I even put a little cover over the mug too while the water is in it, keeps your coffee extra warm ☕ loooove the cozy vibes in this video, as always the way you choose to live life is so expansive and inspiring 🌅
Such a clever idea! And I'm so glad you enjoyed it!

What a wonderful experience tanning hides. Useful to preserve a tradition that can provide beautiful gifts as well.
I agree fully
Thank you
The hide is beautiful!! Nice work!
Thank you!
I knew about brain tanning because i did a bit of it on small animals when i was a teenager, back in the dark ages. Didn't know about egg whites for tanning. Good for you using "waste" hides. Elsa will love it.
That hide turned out so beautiful ❤ you did an amazing job 👏 ❤️ 😊
