Fun Fact: last hip hop/rap album to win album of the year was Outkast. Then before that it was Lauryn Hill. So In retrospect, the last 2 people to win AOTY from hip hop is 2 people that don’t make music anymore (solo projects).

I don't see the issue with saying virgil was a hiphop fashion designer. He was hiphop he influenced hiphop and even pushed hiphop forward in my opinion. Hiphop is the most popular and influential genre on earth currently. We should embrace that he was apart of this culture n took our culture further with his creativity. I dont see any other artist from other genres showing love to virgil like hiphop does. I dont think it limits his legacy virgil will forever be apart of hiphop culture. Let's embrace our artists for our culture.

We complain about not being represented or given credit but because he is "limited" to our culture it's not fair? If he didn't do what he did for hiphop fashion we would be mad if he didnt duck with the culture. Between Jay-Z, Kanye West, Beyonce, Alicia Keys and Kendrick Lamar they have a combined total of 105 Grammys. Guess how many of those are in the general categories (album, record, song of the year)? 2.
Those guys buy grammies. I feel alot of rappers deserve more than those niggas. Wayne, Drake, 50cent, Lil Baby, Young Thug, Nas, The Game alot of rappers have had such great primes but barely have grammies cuz it always goes to Jay, Kanye or Kendrick

If you'd have mentioned names like Ghostface, Lupe, DMX, K.R.I.T., etc. I could have agreed a bit more with the statement. Lil Baby and Young Thug should not have no Grammys, their airplay's been bought just like u said those artists bought their trophies...

Ice is completely right, though. The Grammys AND the Academy Awards are political in the entertainment world and if the hip hop artists aren't willing to play their games they won't get their love. Cardi and Meg clearly have on some level and most of the rappers will certainly play up to MTV so it is what it is...

HipHop has become a joke at this point though. HipHop is not even showing it’s best to the world, but y’all want the Grammys to take it seriously lol Most of the good rappers are underground or regionally underground. I wouldn’t televise that award either. Not unless a huge name gets it. But if you want the narrative to change, we gotta stop having these trash trap rappers at the forefront. Also, Tony Bennett has Alzheimer’s and his album with Lady Gaga is the last of his career because he’s unable to perform at all anymore. Tony has been selling millions for longer than we were alive lol why wouldn’t they show him love on his last record when he’s more than likely going to pass away soon?
