@ExploringWithConnix if you don't want to freeze then yer. This farmer did say something to me once when I was just looking. So when I came out of the tunnel recently I kicked all the silt up. To fuck with his water. He doesn't own the earth. Total tool bad. Haha.

Am I right in thinking it wad on the old plymouth to Tavistock via Yelverton rail link

      Chat Gpt says..
Yes, the Yelverton Tunnel was part of the Plymouth to Tavistock via Yelverton rail link, which was originally part of the South Devon and Tavistock Railway. This line connected Plymouth, Yelverton, Tavistock, and later Launceston and was crucial for transportation through the area in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

@ExploringWithConnix I remember as a toddler catching trains from Bickleigh into plymouth it was a vital link to the army camp sadly it fell under the beeching axe and been closed ever since, the service was normally run with a saddle tank steam engine towing 2 sometimes 3 carriages

That's fascinating! Shame about the beeching cuts, so much great architecture and craftsmanship wasted (tunnels and viaducts), but at least the line has been given a new lease of life with the Drakes Trail. As well as Plympton Station being reopened using some of these older carriages! Sadly, lots of the tunnels and viaducts are in a state of disrepair and forgotten about.
      Thank you for watching

There's an adit before you enter main tunnel in the bank on left as you approach...
It's usually wet and I've not been in there myself,a farmer is piped into it for drinking water for cows and doesn't like people in adit disturbing the sediment

I noticed this last time I was walking past during the day, has a stream running from it, however didn't fancy nativaging through the bushes in the dark alone 😅 perhaps next time I'm up there!

I've had a look at those. Interesting junction of 3 adits. Like you, I don't want to stir up the sediment as it's used as a water source.

Ha! I was headed in there later on today! Interestingly I think I found the other end out in the woods! Promise I'm not copying you although I'll have my own video out soon!

Very cool! Il be sure to give it a watch,
Turns out it's not an adit, it's for maintenance and flood outlet

@@ExploringWithConnix I have a book that covers it that I'll have to dig out! Turns out I'm not going for a few days - there's been a sighting of a big cat in the area so I've got to move my trail cam!

Not been into the adit but i did go around the side of the hill to find the collapsed original entrance & spoil heap.
