I feel the same way about Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser of MGMT too. Simon Posford and Raja Ram of Shpongle as well. :) *Update:* Since posting this comment almost a year ago, I've matured musically and spiritually, so I'm going to nuance this a bit more in case these thoughts potentially interest anybody. MGMT seems to be a wake-up call to modern culture. Particularly with their self-titled going forward. Their style is very subliminal and works deep in your subconscious. They seem significantly more cynical and sarcastic in character, but still optimistic within that. They've got their own "am I going crazy?" moments in their music but again, it happens on a more subliminal level. Their name is very fitting in this way; the management of your mind (who happens to also be tricky and playfully mischievous). Their songs are still song-y (though they deviated from this a bit with the 2nd half of their self-titled and As You Move Through the World), but they thrive on making small switch-ups in their songs that subvert your expectations of what a song is. Animal Collective takes our culture into account, but doesn't dwell on the darkness. They have a bright and happy, at times schizophrenic sound. The metaphor that comes to mind is a cosmically god-like, yet innocently childlike and deeply sincere awareness just having fun playing around with (while at the same time mastering) an ever-expanding psychedelic playground of sound. They bring the psychedelia to the forefront, and at the same time, they still do interesting stuff in your subconscious to help accentuate that. They are equally masterful across the spectrum between meandering ambient pieces and focused songs. If MGMT is Yin, Animal Collective is Yang. Much of Animal Collective's music feels like a beautifully honest celebration of human experience. Shpongle takes all sorts of worldly cultures into account, does away with much of the muddier aspects of physical reality, adds their secret shamanic magic, and goes full-on transcendent with their sound. Their songs are less about being thematic songs that cause specific kinds of synesthesia and make you really think/feel, and more about taking cosmic journeys through both inner and outer space, using the sounds of various parts of the world to spice the experience up. It makes sense that Shpongle is more tied directly to psychedelic culture than the other two, because they're much more upfront about that part of their work. But I feel that this also leads to them being a little less popular. Shpongle is a celebration and endless exploration of the infinite mysteries of Consciousness and existence. Anyway... Just some thoughts. Much love to anyone who happens to read this.

Goddamn does this make me want a Spirit They're Gone focused tour, his performance of La Rapet was fantastic
I think this is the first time La Rapet was preformed live. (Sort of)
I've been dying to hear either that, or Bat you'll Fly live
I started tearing up during Turn Into Something.
If Avey & PB would do a 25 year anniversary tour playing the whole STGSTV album that would be amazing.

What makes you think so? Some people are such Psychedelic beings that they just exude the energy when they're sober.
