Because Harry wasn’t receiving money to actually be able to afford much of anything. After Harry proposed Charles told him there wasn’t money in the budget for Meghan.. he claimed out of the 60 million dollars they’d get per year that there wasn’t money for security and clothes… so Meghan had to pay for everything for herself, down to her wedding dress, flowers, wedding cake, etc. the BRF covered security costs. William and Charles didn’t even want Harry releasing a statement about the abuse she was experiencing because they claimed it made them look bad…

I have lived a couple of blocks away from Meghan's Toronto rental home for 43 years, as well as having a close friend who's house was literally one street north and a couple of houses over from Meghan's Seaton address. We can assure you that although neighbours generally come to be recognized, if only by sight, after a few weeks living close by (particularly those who regularly walk their dogs, or must avail themselves of the one grocery store in the area), neither of us, nor anyone else in the vicinity, had ever heard of Meghan Markle, or of the cable TV show Suits until after the engagement interview. Furthermore, at no time was there any influx of media, paparazzi, or even interested locals during her time in our area. Much as the Toronto police were never able to substantiate her claims of people lurking around her house, or stalking her, she was a complete unknown here until well after she moved to England. I believe that similar to the alleged 2-hour high-speed New York City car chase, which years later she would claim to have been involved in, any recollections on her part should always be thoroughly fact checked. It was due to this initial fabrication on her part about a non-existent Toronto media circus, that I have never accepted anything she has since claimed as being other than 'her truth', which is apparently a synonym for a lie. I just thought I should comment on something of which (for once) I have first hand knowledge.
I wonder if Brits think we American's knew who Meghan was BEFORE HARRY? Majority of us didn't. I follow pop-culture and stay "in the loop" as far as entertainers. I never knew who she was before Harry. I think that some Brits think she was somehow "famous" here in America and held in high-reguard. Nope. If anything, MAYBE they could place her to 'Suits'... maybe. I've heard Royal correspondents say things like "In America they might believe Meghan but not here." Even though the program 'Suits' was filmed in Toronto, it was aired for 2 years in the US before anyone saw it in Canada. I live in Toronto and until I heard on the news that Prince Harry was asking reporters to leave his girlfriend alone, I had no idea that Harry even had a girlfriend, let alone that she lived in Toronto. This makes me think that there must be some truth to the story that someone started this rumour before it was even happening in order to get attention for Meghan.

I don't know how I feel about this interview. He deftly avoided questions he didn't want to answer--who hired him and who paid him, for example. Some of what he says differs greatly from what neighbors, etc. have said. He surely had to sign an NDA, which means that his employer had to give him written permission to do this interview and likely approved what he was going to say. All interesting.

Plus the paps weren't taking photos of each other (which is where you would see that type of photos) and we don't have TMZ up here to document that type of chaos. It was one of the main criticisms as any footage they used were stock footage and some like the South African trip were approved by them. Even the Toronto pap was a stock photo. In the UK they were never chased or stalked, all photo ops were at events or known. There were very few if any. Frankly I think the two things they hated were the negative headlines and trolls on social media. And I have to say even the headlines they used, some were American and the troll report by Christopher Boozy, someone who has been sued for misrepresentation of his Bot reports. And, who himself weirdly actually trolled Catherine and William months earlier. Just a very weird character to align oneself to.

Have you ever met any of her actual friends so that they themselves told you this, or you just saw some online garbage about what her so-called friends said about her and you bought it? Lesson 2: just because you read something online, or because someone claimed sonething, doesn't mean that said thing is true. Anybody can claim anything. For example, I can claim that you've sexually molested children, but does my claim make this true??? Thirdly, here is Steve Davies, a man who actually worked with Meghan; he saw her and knew her fairly, and he says that she's a good person from what he knows. And you, who has never met her think that what you've heard your anonymous sources say is what is true. Security needs to complete a non-disclosure agreement. In order to speak to media, they (I.e. Meghan's camp) would have to have amended that agreement or waived it, or else this guy could be sued. And the security guy would NOT have gone to the media proactively - he would have been pitched.. again, by Meghan's side. And notice how he didn't really answer who hired/paid for him? He only notes that NBC contacted him.

Yes, and she learned the hard way through that instance that if she tried to be normal, happy and smile politely for the press they’d savage her and claimed she “loves it”. They literally addressed these exact images in their documentary: how she tried to just be polite and normal if the hopes they’d treat her nicer in return. It was naive, but her default was “just be nice, just continue doing your normal things, it’ll be OK”. It wasn’t OK.

Another comment I wanted to make was that one day I walked into a Reitman's store in the Eaton Centre in downtown Toronto. There was a picture of a young women which took up one whole wall and I wondered who it was since I had never seen her before anywhere. It was much later on that I learned that it was actually Megan Markle (the girlfriend of Prince Harry) and that she was a spokesperson for the store and had done commercials for them but I had never seen her on television or anywhere else. Why weren’t the photos taken by the “50” paps included in the Netflix’s reality show? Also I’d love to see them as well as the filmed footage of the scenes he’s described in his interview . Surely they would have plenty . Why was it not included to prove their claims instead of using footage or others being chased. They started filming themselves and documenting by date two? Okay.

I have lived a couple of blocks away from Meghan's Toronto rental home for 43 years, as well as having a close friend who's house was literally one street north and a couple of houses over from Meghan's Seaton address.
We can assure you that although neighbours generally come to be recognized, if only by sight, after a few weeks living close by (particularly those who regularly walk their dogs, or must avail themselves of the one grocery store in the area), neither of us, nor anyone else in the vicinity, had ever heard of Meghan Markle, or of the cable TV show Suits until after the engagement interview.
Furthermore, at no time was there any influx of media, paparazzi, or even interested locals during her time in our area.
Much as the Toronto police were never able to substantiate her claims of people lurking around her house, or stalking her, she was a complete unknown here until well after she moved to England.
I believe that similar to the alleged 2-hour high-speed New York City car chase, which years later she would claim to have been involved in, any recollections on her part should always be thoroughly fact checked.
It was due to this initial fabrication on her part about a non-existent Toronto media circus, that I have never accepted anything she has since claimed as being other than 'her truth', which is apparently a synonym for a lie.
I just thought I should comment on something of which (for once) I have first hand knowledge.

Even though the program 'Suits' was filmed in Toronto, it was aired for 2 years in the US before anyone saw it in Canada. I live in Toronto and until I heard on the news that Prince Harry was asking reporters to leave his girlfriend alone, I had no idea that Harry even had a girlfriend, let alone that she lived in Toronto. This makes me think that there must be some truth to the story that someone started this rumour before it was even happening in order to get attention for Meghan.

Some of what he says differs greatly from what neighbors, etc. have said. In the UK they were never chased or stalked, all photo ops were at events or known. There were very few if any.

Lesson 1: just because you never heard or saw something doesn't mean that it doesn't exist.
Secondly, "her friends said she would do ... ... ...", doesn't mean it's in fact true. Have you ever met any of her actual friends so that they themselves told you this, or you just saw some online garbage about what her so-called friends said about her and you bought it?
Lesson 2: just because you read something online, or because someone claimed sonething, doesn't mean that said thing is true. Anybody can claim anything. For example, I can claim that you've sexually molested children, but does my claim make this true???

Another comment I wanted to make was that one day I walked into a Reitman's store in the Eaton Centre in downtown Toronto.
There was a picture of a young women which took up one whole wall and I wondered who it was since I had never seen her before anywhere. It was much later on that I learned that it was actually Megan Markle (the girlfriend of Prince Harry) and that she was a spokesperson for the store and had done commercials for them but I had never seen her on television or anywhere else. Why weren’t the photos taken by the “50” paps included in the Netflix’s reality show? Also I’d love to see them as well as the filmed footage of the scenes he’s described in his interview .
