Necrophagia and Dream Death in one video?! Aight this is probably the best metal related Yt channel! Love your taste and style of videos man for sure 🤘 Shame you didn’t talk about the Necrophagia albums with Phil, I think they’re genuinely some of the best catchy creepy tunes ever made! Very sludgy which I like haha. Either way these bands absolutely rule. The weird ‘ break’ riff in elder race gets me so pumped! Respect from the Uk HAILS
I always hesitate to call 'Season of the Dead' Necrophagia's first album, because even though it was the first one released, it wasn't the first recorded. And while I do think that 'Season of the Dead' is a more well-constructed album, 'Ready for Death' serves as a far better testament to just how ahead of the curve Necrophagia was when compared to everyone else. Because not only was it recorded in 1986, but it's even heavier than 'Season of the Dead'. At a time when the heaviest bands around were Morbid Angel and Massacre, that album blows everything else away completely. It's a total toss-up when it comes to which album I like more though. Great work as always!
Even though Penance isn't for everyone, I've always felt they're just as ridiculously strong a band as Dream Death - with both Brian and Butch. You into em much?
Killjoy's vocals on Seasons of the Dead kind of remind me of Quothorn on the first few Bathory records. I remember their DVD that had lots of gorey horror stuff filmed for it, as well as footage from Road Kill, samples from Cuckoo Clocks in Hell, and other stuff.
Journey into Mystery is amazing. Saw the Drwam Death reunion show and they were so fucking heavy. Mike Smail from Dream Death also played on the first Cathedral album.
I got into both these albums in the late 1980's after I bought an album called "Speed Metal Hell Vol 3". I had a Necrophagia song called "Power Thru Darkness" off their demo which blew me away. I started collecting all the New Renaissance Records vinyl. Also it was very sad hearing about Anne Boleyn from New Renaissance who had to shut the label down and go into hiding because a stalker threatened to rape and murder her! One of the best songs ever was a song called "Mirror Soul Jesus" by a supergroup called Eibon which had Killjoy on vocals.
I think their style paved the way for the next coming wave of death metal sounds in the 1990's and going forward on and of course I'm talking about Dream Death!
Would you ever do an episode on Old Funeral? That band basically was the locus of so many Norwegian death and black metal bands later on, but I genuinely think it’s underrated beyond its “historical importance”. The stuff Immortal were doing before Euronymous turned up. The riffs and vocals are insane (some spicy lyrics too).
Great video man, always learning something new. I think you should use that one clip of Nick where he says. "CRYSTAL METH. YOUVE HEARD OF IT RIGHT? IM ON ITTTTT." I think that'd be really awesome and cool thank you
HELL YEAH BROTHER! Both of these are MANDATORY METAL! Of course Season of the Dead influenced a lot of later Horror themed death metal bands, but unlike a lot of those Razorback bands (some of which were really good), it never felt like a gimmick. The atmosphere on Season of the Dead feels morbid and deranged, and Killjoy's lyrics and vocal delivery don't feel campy at all. It doesn't get more Death Metal than this: "Now watch your crimson as it bleeds Another victim, another casualty Out of touch with reality On a death trip fantasy Add another to my killing spree "
Very glad someone’s out here praising necrophagia and appreciating their unique weirdness. Season of the Dead is one of my favorite records ever. It’s so fucking unique. Nobody riffs like Necrophagia.
Necrophagia's Ready for Death was their first ever album which was to be released in 1986 and got delayed to 1990. it is even more unique stylsized and less thrashier and more death metal than seasons of the dead. i recommend checking it out
Journey into Mystery is great. I like it more and more with every listen. When I was young and stupid and therefore obsessed with classifying everything I heard, I called Dream Death doom thrash. Talk about cringe 😬
@@GLISTENSHORRIBLYI changed my mind a bit I still think absurd goatmoon are better atlest album wise but I have only lisend to a copele or mabye one album per band, absurd I only lisend to there folk musik album, and one I can't rembere and death before dishonor with goatmoon and the one with an owl flying, m8l8th I like the one with my native land on it, but I still like the riffs more on absurd and especially goatmoon I like the flute

Dank episode dood! I feel like Necrophagia's wacky riffs influenced bands like Craft.

Ugh perfect line-up gotta stop whatever the f I’m doing & watch it straight away
you ever heard human infection? Their vocalist loves Death and Lovecraft, you would probably dig it.
haha poor Sully just wanted to go hunting slash
Very spoopy
12:36 yeah for sure that riff/passage in DT’s « A Blaze… » is so uncanny & awesome

Lol yeah it's funny how thorough knowledge of genres get when you stick with it for years.
Not a metal band, but you think you would consider an episode on the post punk band Fearing?
McKutchin
You should start taking paid skis for reviews
Don't do a video on, m8l8th they are a boring Russian absurd rip off, overrated as fack
