- We're continuing our journey through Marvel vs Capcom 3's mission combos! Today I worked through some Capcom characters, including Ryu, Chris Redfield, and (eventually) Morrigan. Morrigan's mission 10 trial combo is so hard that it almost broke my spirit. Enjoy!!

@@mrevilducky Its hard, I played Morrigan for fun on the side. To this day I still get a cross up air dash j.H sometimes after j.HxSoul fistxUnfly. Its not just the amount of inputs but the timing is super strict.

Morrigan is the first and only character I ever cleared all trials on. It took me over an hour to get that last one. Watching this brought back all those painful memories.
ZhynZokuna she was one of the earlier ones for me too but it took me MUCH longer than an hour. Lucky bastard lol

The issue with the morrigan combo is its “air flight” and not flight. So if you cancel it into flight too low to the ground it doesnt count as air flight 😞

Seems like you have to hit h right after flight for it to work other wise it resets.

The combo kept resetting on morrigan's t10 because you were doing a tiger knee flight. The way to know which you did is that a tiger knee air flight will be right above the ground whereas normal flight will be much higher up. Normally, the opponent would fall out of the combo if too low to the ground.
There is a slight delay between the first fly and the following H.
I actually enjoy that mission. Fun times were when I did it on a Vita. I lost feeling my right thumb.

Ryu was my 1st 10 missions cleared, then Frank West, then Akuma, then that was it.lmao

Literally, that's my order too, though he swaps Akuma for Ryu and adds Chris
Frank West is def the easiest to get all missions cleared with - you can just get to level five and then the timing becomes WAY easier and less strict

This is pretty late, but I did Ryu's tenth mission waiting for his air Tatsumaki to finish. His heavy air Tatsumaki does five hits, and on the fifth hit, you launch your opponent a little bit so that you have more time to do the air Shinku Hadoken.
...why did they only decide to teach flight cancels on the last mission, instead of peppering them in in the other missions to get the player used to the timing?

Feels like you might be tiger knee'ing the flight input which might be reading you as still being on the ground.

In the Morrigan combo the game, knew you were too low to the ground to get the appropriate hit stun you needed to slow it down a slight bit and the the light shadow blade carry you a little higher
Had a VERY hard time with Morrigan's mission 10 as it took me a week to do, but I got it down and I'm very proud and happy about it! Had to push myself and that's exactly what I did.
I don't particularly care for this game or Marvel as a franchise, but I really dig the art style this game has. It's enough to keep me watching even though I actively dislike team games. Says a lot about just how good the game itself is.

Mvc2 is the best imo, xfactor with stupid long combos and stupid big damage is the biggest flaw in this game and bad balance
No, MVC3 is not the best at all. Just average.
A lot of unbalances, plus too stress and too paranoid to continue damaging without any breaks. Also, the worst is no break-free. Bad designs in the parts.
Can we all just admit that combo challenges while fun needs to be polished so they are not too specific or stale?
I mean for example we could have a combo challenge that would require you to
combo in and out of a certain move,
for example combo out of Dante hysteric a certain amount of times
deal a certain amount of damage for example,
deal 900,000 damage with only one bar of meter (no gain)
put character in certain positions for example,
for example carry the opponent from side to side or side switch in the corner.
What do you guys think?
I think that's a great idea. You get to create your own combos too, but I think there should be some classic combo trials to help.

If you are *_competent_* at fighting games, you don't even need these convoluted combos to win the match!
In marvel having optimal damage and setplay is really important, probably more so than other fighting games

“Baku Hadoken? I didn’t know he had that.” Well he doesn’t, this was a move that was made for MVC3 Ryu and as far as I’m aware it’s never returned in any Street Fighter game he’ll it’s probably not in MVCI

I remember Chris G saying something along the lines that Morrigan combos will break your fingers. Theres a video on UA-cam called the Art of Playing Lame. The fact that he was doing this every match says a lot about his overall skill as a player.

Just got done doing it the “legit” way and i’m proud to say i can now do it relatively consistently,without mashed inputs,and not relevant but with my left hand index on a bandage lol. I have a vid with some tips in the description but even then it’s really damn hard to get the rhythm of it. Once you (eventually) do get it it feels amazing.
My guess is that the combo wasn't registering cuz u probably had to go into flight mode on the frames that morrigan is in the air during the dp animation as oppose to using flight when she is on the ground. That really shouldn't matter tho they should have fixed that
Ugh yeah never did complete the Morrigan 10 combo. And it was due to never consistently landing the last launcher. Whenever I did finally land it I just wasn't ready for it and dropped the final part. =/

For the morrigan combo, I'm like 99% sure you are getting ground fly (so NOT air fly...this game is dumb) by cancelling out of the DP before your considered aerial. Try delaying the cancel a bit if you can. iirc morrigan's DP is multi hit so just let it hit a couple times instead of just one

why does Ryu look so weird in this game
They reused a lot of assets from Ratsunoko vs Capcom, Ryu's tvc model looks weird in the first place because it's based of Ryu's design from the Street Fighter Alpha series (the design Ryu had in all the vs games prior)
Ryu’s mission 10 is much easier if you hit the entire air tatsu(421)
Always fun to see these Mission Mode victories! I can't wait to see you try out Super Skrull. I had trouble with his later ones, 9 and 10 were tough. Do you think you'd ever tackle some SNK games? KoFXIII's are pretty challenging too. I only ever completed the characters I mained.
