I like the design of the quarter, but you are correct, the open fields make it look like a trade dollar to me (or something similar). I saw the pics of the die gouge and I agree that is probably what it is, however, with it looking like it has some texture to it (like string or something), it could be hubbed in debris (on the working hub), which could cause a raised anomaly on the coins as well. We shall see what the others say 😺
I was thinking the same thing but didn’t want to say that the die was hubbed through a string
I'm feeling the same way about this busy yoke and lots of space. Just my opinion😅
Is it just me or does the G in God look like a C? When I compared that G with a previous one there is a big difference.
Beautiful!! Work of Art
I think this design works better as a work of art than as a coin. If you saw this on a large canvas in an art gallery, you'd have the ability to step back, study it and appreciate it. But on a coin, it's difficult to read the writing because it's so small. And if you don't read English, you may not know it's a quarter, since that information is basically hidden amidst all the other writing. I do like the cameo quality, though--it reminds me of the 1837 dime and half dime with no stars on the obverse.
I have to agree with you there on the size of the art and the compactness of the words. Hard to read at that scale.
I agree with you on the open fields. Too much. Only plus would be to find an error in the field itself. I am no expert, but I agree as well with the design not being too good. Thanks.
The quarter is nice and shines really pretty, I don't like the yoke has so many letters going into other letters, its hard to look at and be able make out the words.
I would have to agree. He words are small and hard to read how they are presented there.
I love the intro 😂
I was scratching Lottery with mine this morning and realized it was a blank field around her got on the internet immediately but nope its regular.😂
It does look different! Hopefully it was a luck coin to scratch with!!!
I totally understand why one wouldn't like this quarter design. It is too different. I feel you.
My favorite part about this design is that it doesn't feel like a quarter. My boss thought they were fake when he first saw them. Its just so different which is what makes it soo cool to me.
Also when you think about it, there were several state quarters that had just as much if not more blank space on the reverse design.
I completely understand! I really want to like the quarter design. I think if there was a little bit of a rim around it maybe it would work for me. I can't quite put my finger on what makes it seem just off to me. I'm glad they are willing to try new things though!
I thought they were fake because "United States of America" and "E Pluribus Unum" are not around the outer edge like it is on most other American quarters.
Yes they do have a really odd look compared to all other coins.
I think its a great design.....it is different.
Also, this quarter is vanishing from circulation..people are putting them away as a potential scarce coin in uncirculated condition...
I have 1 with a mark across her forehead & 1 on each side of her body marked D for Denver.
honestly when I first saw this in person I thought it was fake cause it reminded me of like an arcade token
I have a 2023 Jovita Idar quarter in mint condition incredibly shiny looks like it was just made this morning… Is it worth anything? Im seeing them on ebay for crazy prices anywhere from $800 to $3000 but seeing the occasional for $5 also, (could be a fake). Is the quarter I have worth anything could someone please enlighten me? 🙏 🙌
The ones you are seeing on eBay for that amount are either fake listings or extremely high graded coins. Almost all newer coins will only be worth face value unless there is something extremely rare about the individual coin.
If your coin happens to have what looks like a crack going through the area of her name on her blouse on the back of the coin And a C in place of the G in God we trust on the front then you're coin is probably worth more than 25 cents.
I got a bag from Denver unsure when I’ll open it
Nice! I went Philly as they are more common to have errors from the mint.
I love this coin I thought there was an error on the coin . I didn’t see any letters in the back and what I saw on her blouse I thought it was a crochet shawl.
I DESPERATELY need to see this quarter in real life!!
I still haven’t seen one, but I can’t roll hunt anymore so I’m relying on getting change back. Finally found a Tallchief one though. It was eluding me on my 23 board.
That raised line appears to be a thread. Look at the raised lines within that line. It’s circular similar to a barbers 💈 which reminds me of a piece of thread
By the way, the errors I found are in the same place as yours. At the bottom of Washington's neck
Good job brother. I got a bag of.25 cents. from, ( that other country Texas) LoL. I have one quarter that looks like major scratches two or three on his face. dents. Can I send you a picture? ✌️💙🏇🏇🏇
It seems like she should be moved a smidge to the left to fill the space better.
I found a gold one .. but indont see anybody else online that has one nor in a google search
Sounds really cool! Some secondary market companies will plate them in gold, silver, platinum, etc... and resell them out to people as a collectible.
The error on the last coin you showed - the one that appears to be a string - is very interesting. Do you have any idea what it's called? I have some of them I found in a bag of 100 from the Philadelphia mint. If you find out what it's called, please leave me a reply. Thank you for your video.
(UPDATE: Fixed my mistake here in the below reply. This would be considered a Die Gouge)It would most likely be a strike through error. Struck through object/string. It does looks like a string to me too. Congrats on the finds!!!
Sorry let me fix my mistake here. The error here would be a die gouge. Not a Strike Through. Sorry about my mistake here!
I have one of these and on the front there's a second smaller circle mark clean it couldnt be a random pocket mark anyone know of these having a second strike error ?
The coin rollers often leave a circular mark around the coin faces.
@@originalatogscoins this is cut into the coin though. Maybe I can search an example of the coin rollers marks ? Thanks for the reply.
No problem.@@KeithLaham-eq7wi If it looks different that that, check out the 'Live Coin Q&A' UA-cam channel. They take emails with coin pictures and assist with errors and varieties. They are a great resource!
I have this quarter and it has 3 dots in front of her forehead going down in an angle. This has to be an error. The Jovita Idar quarter.
From the sounds of it, Unfortunately It sounds like it was hit by a rim of another quarter and would be considered damage.
Has anyone found a 2023P with die marks from the fore head right around to almost the front of the nose
No wonder the United States mint didn't win any coins of the year BU? They look pretty beat up (chatter)?
They are loose in the bag so they clank around on each other. More chatter than rolls. But the coins have been worse quality the past few years.
My Denver mint coin say's in "Cod we trust" can you tell me why? it's an errorr coin i guess 😅😂😂
It could be many reasons. But the most common is a weak strike or grease strike caused the details to be weak there.
there is too much empty space left… and I don’t like the writing all in one place either
I would have left the label attached to the bag,,,,
I guess I don't have to pull the tread all the way off. But they come off really easy once opened.
How much is this Quarter worth today ? Lavetta Ratliff💕✝️💯
Not sure what some of the errors are going for. But as a standard quarter it is worth face value.
Mines has a slash on her lower left cheek & looks like a P slash under her left eye by nose
All that writing on her shirt is hard to look at. All the empty space....they have to put the gouges somewhere 😂
Looks like she has five fingers and a thumb lol. But I don’t have a telescope
Seem strange? Hard to look at and appreciate. Heard of errors already in the writing by her neck.
I heard about it too. I went back and checked mine again. I didn’t see anything on the reverse.
There is writing on her clothing
Yes, E Pluribus Unum, Quarter Dollar, Her name and more are there. In my opinion the size and the uniform color of the quarter makes it hard to read.
Worst coin ever made in USA . Vending machine wouldn't even take this pos coin . I didn't know what country this thing was from. I thought it was Canadian coin lol. But no I found out this pos is ours
Medallic Artist John P. McGraw did a poor job sculpting his own design on the die. Her face doesn't resemble the portrait (search Google images) on which the design was based.
@@originalatogscoins McGraw added the folded hands so it wouldn't break the "head and shoulders portrait/two-headed coin" rule.
@@RipVanSmith Oh very interesting. I'll flip a coin, Heads I win, tails you lose! hahaha
I actually like this one. The US has boring money compared to the rest if the world. Glad to see they are trying something new!
I’m glad to see them trying something new as well. I’ve been thinking about it and I think what really bothers me is the blank open fields. Otherwise the design is nice!
