I like the design of the quarter, but you are correct, the open fields make it look like a trade dollar to me (or something similar). I saw the pics of the die gouge and I agree that is probably what it is, however, with it looking like it has some texture to it (like string or something), it could be hubbed in debris (on the working hub), which could cause a raised anomaly on the coins as well. We shall see what the others say 😺
I’m glad to see them trying something new as well. I’ve been thinking about it and I think what really bothers me is the blank open fields. Otherwise the design is nice!
It's Dec.23rd 2024 and i just got one of these from the laundromat, my first time ever seeing a coin like this. I thought it was a blooper & immediately got on the Internet which led me here only to find out it was normal!😂😂 TY
I agree with you on the open fields. Too much. Only plus would be to find an error in the field itself. I am no expert, but I agree as well with the design not being too good. Thanks.
I think this design works better as a work of art than as a coin. If you saw this on a large canvas in an art gallery, you'd have the ability to step back, study it and appreciate it. But on a coin, it's difficult to read the writing because it's so small. And if you don't read English, you may not know it's a quarter, since that information is basically hidden amidst all the other writing. I do like the cameo quality, though--it reminds me of the 1837 dime and half dime with no stars on the obverse.
The glove is there just incase I found something really great. Otherwise these just end up going to the bank as circulating coins. Besides most coins can be safely handled by the rims without gloves. Also I needed a ungloved hand to operate the camera on my phone.
@originalatogscoins thank you!!! I appreciate the clarification. I like collecting coins and seeing all the different ones, but not so much as to use a glove. Lol
The quarter is nice and shines really pretty, I don't like the yoke has so many letters going into other letters, its hard to look at and be able make out the words.
I totally understand why one wouldn't like this quarter design. It is too different. I feel you. My favorite part about this design is that it doesn't feel like a quarter. My boss thought they were fake when he first saw them. Its just so different which is what makes it soo cool to me. Also when you think about it, there were several state quarters that had just as much if not more blank space on the reverse design.
I completely understand! I really want to like the quarter design. I think if there was a little bit of a rim around it maybe it would work for me. I can't quite put my finger on what makes it seem just off to me. I'm glad they are willing to try new things though!
I thought they were fake because "United States of America" and "E Pluribus Unum" are not around the outer edge like it is on most other American quarters.
I love this coin I thought there was an error on the coin . I didn’t see any letters in the back and what I saw on her blouse I thought it was a crochet shawl.
That raised line appears to be a thread. Look at the raised lines within that line. It’s circular similar to a barbers 💈 which reminds me of a piece of thread

@@originalatogscoins so um I looked at that quarter under my microscope and the G total looks like a C it didn’t have the little line that makes it a G so I’m confused
The error on the last coin you showed - the one that appears to be a string - is very interesting. Do you have any idea what it's called? I have some of them I found in a bag of 100 from the Philadelphia mint. If you find out what it's called, please leave me a reply. Thank you for your video.
(UPDATE: Fixed my mistake here in the below reply. This would be considered a Die Gouge)It would most likely be a strike through error. Struck through object/string. It does looks like a string to me too. Congrats on the finds!!!
I have a 2023 Jovita Idar quarter in mint condition incredibly shiny looks like it was just made this morning… Is it worth anything? Im seeing them on ebay for crazy prices anywhere from $800 to $3000 but seeing the occasional for $5 also, (could be a fake). Is the quarter I have worth anything could someone please enlighten me? 🙏 🙌
The ones you are seeing on eBay for that amount are either fake listings or extremely high graded coins. Almost all newer coins will only be worth face value unless there is something extremely rare about the individual coin.
If your coin happens to have what looks like a crack going through the area of her name on her blouse on the back of the coin And a C in place of the G in God we trust on the front then you're coin is probably worth more than 25 cents.
I have one of these and on the front there's a second smaller circle mark clean it couldnt be a random pocket mark anyone know of these having a second strike error ?

All women's quarters minted contain the same font where the G looks like a C. Its a design choice that got picked up by someone recently and the idea blew up. But it is not an error.
Dig your style and genuine way of doing things. Don't agree about the quarter design, I think it's great 👍 but that's all subjective. Her entire body being made up of words makes a complicated cool coin, to me lol. It took time but sunk in
Thanks! It is all subjective. Its always good to hear everyone's perspective on things! My main issue with the design is the complicated design is too small to easily see on the quarter. I think it would be great on a larger size coin. Either way I'm glad you like it!
True. However the COD error is not an error. It is the Font style they used for the women's quarters. It looks like a C and not a G on ALL women's quarters.

I think its a great design.....it is different.
Also, this quarter is vanishing from circulation..people are putting them away as a potential scarce coin in uncirculated condition...
I think that is one of the busiest coins I have seen from the mint.
Very true!
It seems like she should be moved a smidge to the left to fill the space better.
I agreed, a few minor adjustment would make this work better.

Unfortunately it is not rare. There were hundreds of millions minted.

From the sounds of it, Unfortunately It sounds like it was hit by a rim of another quarter and would be considered damage.

It could be many reasons. But the most common is a weak strike or grease strike caused the details to be weak there.

No wonder the United States mint didn't win any coins of the year BU? They look pretty beat up (chatter)?
They are loose in the bag so they clank around on each other. More chatter than rolls. But the coins have been worse quality the past few years.

Not sure what some of the errors are going for. But as a standard quarter it is worth face value.

I guess I don't have to pull the tread all the way off. But they come off really easy once opened.
there is too much empty space left… and I don’t like the writing all in one place either
Yes. It feels too cramped with a lot of wasted space.
And since when does it read in COD we trust?
All women's quarters minted contain the same font where the G looks like a C. Its a design choice that got picked up by someone recently and the idea blew up. But it is not an error.

There is writing on her clothing
Yes, E Pluribus Unum, Quarter Dollar, Her name and more are there. In my opinion the size and the uniform color of the quarter makes it hard to read.
Seem strange? Hard to look at and appreciate. Heard of errors already in the writing by her neck.
