I knew about the blood disease and the scourge invasion event, but I had no idea about this one. The WoW player base are some of the most creative and terrifying bunch of people I’ve ever seen
@@strider8662 it happened back in 2005 and it became so frequent, Blizzard had to limit the distance world bosses could be kited at, by the time the launched TBC.
@@strider8662 Bro this happened in original... constantly. I'm pretty sure Blizz started classic in a patch that didn't allow bosses to be kited to cities, they would reset. Edit: yea was addressed in video. This couldn't happen in Classic, which was in the later patch.
I remember back during TBC when Highlord Kruul visited Orgrimmar with his puppies, fun times. I even got close enough with my rogue to pickpocket him just to find out he had no pockets to pick, then immediately get mauled by one of his puppies. Best xpac launch event ever.
I remember, on Aerie Peak US, back during _The Burning Crusade,_ someone managed to drag Varedis (the Illidari Demon Hunter) from outside the Black Temple aaall the way over to Shattrath City. I probably got there too late to see much chaos, but someone got him stuck in an eternal fight with A'dal, the Naaru. If anyone was curious, Varedis has a "shadow form" that makes him invincible unless a quest-related trinket was used on him. A'dal was either invincible, too, or untouchable. So, yeah. "Immovable object", meet "unstoppable force".
Storytelling was a very good idea. I wonder if we'll ever get to see another event like this in the modern game. It's been a while since something THIS memorable has happened.
I'm so glad I was around for all these events. The world bosses the blood plague event was so much fun back then so many good memories I feel bad for the people who didn't get to experience it
This was a fun educational experience as someone whos never played wow, i was actually curious if you could pull strong enemies in ff14 when i first started but sadly cant and well i think i know why now lol
The best part of the vid by far was them pulling Kazzack into the throne room with Bolvar, the two of them vanishing into the other room, and there's this pause of "did....did it work?" to be answered by *20 more shadowbolt volleys.*
I recall something similar happening in Cataclysm where Jaina Proudmoore got kited to Orgrimmar. Not sure if the video's still up but it shows even during then it was still possible too.
I'm going to need a high definition version of that shot of Kazzak standing above a burning Stormwind. I'll put it right beside my picture of Varian getting disenchanted.
my favourite one that happened, actually happened in 2015 where the deadmines boss Helix Gearbreaker invaded Silvermoon, due to a glitch he also happened to be immortal, so he just continued to leap onto the faces of random players and guards alike wreaking havoc until eventually a GM finally ended his face riding spree
I participated in a Kazzak pull on my server during Vanilla. I just happened to fly over him in Elwynn when I was flying to Redridge for a BRD run, and dropped group to run back and join in the madness. Afterward, I would regularly pull Teremus to Stormwind, making it as far as pulling him to the keep before he was killed lol I tried pulling a nightmare dragon a few times, but I never had any luck.
I was killed by Kazzak in SW and Ogrimmar back in the day... ah the good ol days. Oof and back when a Warlock could do a summoning to destroy Goldshire with a demon...MAN I MISS THOSE DAYS
My dad was in the same guild as one of the hunters who pulled Kazzik to storm wind, the guy was called Cookiemonster and was even mentoring my dad on how to play hunter. When a GM finally stepped in they told him they would get banned if they tried it again.
Oh, how interesting that Highlord Kruul replaced Kazzak in TBC. Kruul, then in the distant future, becomes the Legion mage tower tank boss. So he wasn't just a one-off!
I wasn't there when it happened, but I was playing WoW back then, and when the first videos were uploaded, not to UA-cam, I don't believe UA-cam existed back then but somewhere else I watched them.
on WarcraftMovies maybe? Pretty sure a lot of popular old wow videos were initially uploaded there and then over to youtube. But I think a lot of the originals arent available anymore
@@CaptainGrim For sure, I actually never watched WarcraftMovies though, I found my stuff, through a website back then called, "Livedigital" which is now a site for selling cameras. Back in the day though they uploaded videos just like UA-cam, including WoW videos which by the way... Wasn't blocked by the School Firewall, so I could watch WoW videos in school. I believe that's actually where I saw it originally. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Thank you by the way, for the video -- always love your stuff, and have watched every single one of your videos, some of them multiple times, lol.
If Blizzard does another SoM. They should have a random event that spawns once every few weeks/months. That sends Demons to the main cities. And if players fail to kill the invasion. They will take over the city for a week.
I had seen and partaken in a similar scenario back in MOP. We kited Devilsaur from the Isle of Giants towards the Shrines in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms. I also tried kiting a dangerous add on my own once. The summonable Ordos rare elite, the one north of the celestial arena, alas the farthest I got him with the help of the panda raft was off the coast the Jade Forest. Before he suddenly disappeared, I didn't have time to try again, and I wasn't bored enough to try anytime afterwards. Good times.
i remember being on bonechewer and logging in and there would be kazzak, while i was on shitty dial up, lol. or when people would summon infernals on top of the AH and that would be the chance for rogues to work on their throwing xD
This kind of stuff was always the most fun, they should make it so that it can happen anywhere at any time. Like they could spawn random raid bosses or make an army of NPCs attack a city.. imagine an army of defias or kobolds storming goldshire or stormwind, or scarlet crusade attacking undercity.
What class was the dwarf who volunteered to heal at the beginning? Wearing cloth and rocking a staff... There were no dwarf priests or shamans yet. Guess it could be a derpy paladin lol.
Blizzard was too heavy-handed with their fix. They should have let them be kited to town, but have them despawn after a set time of wrecking face. I don't think Blizzard ever really understood just how much fun that kind of random shit was.
Would have actually been really cool if WoW had created an event on March 3rd where Kazzak came to SW/Org (with a weakened healing ability though... maybe make it like 500 health healed.) and create other similar events for the other world bosses as well "Invading" the Major capitals, and thus making the players need to form a defence and repel the enemy... and maybe get some epic loots in the process for helping repel the enemy.
It takes a really impressive player event to inspire Blizzard to make an official one, with Kazzack camping out in front of SW/Org in what I think was either the BC or Legion prepatch event or both. The Blood Plague --> scourge event and Running of the Gnomes events were also inspired by the players now that I think about it.
I used to solo kite Teremus the Devourer to Stonard, with my Orc Hunter. I would make laps around the village until he was dead. It was a guaranteed drop of the Flawless Draenethyst Sphere. It used to take over 15 mins running circles around the city, but it was really cool to be able to kill him alone.
It's a shame events like this don't happen anymore. I don't mind occasionally getting wiped for something like this. If I were Blizzard, I would've deliberately continued putting in exploits for players to find, patching them when they finally caused some chaos. All the while pretending it was unintentional. IIRC, there was another one with Doomlord Kazzak, but in this case he was only the guinea pig. The exploit had something to do with a Paladin buff that procced and could stack infinitely. The stacked buff would charge up some Paladin attack ability. A Paladin duelled with his friend continuously and kept stacking that buff until it was stacked a 1000 times. Then he went and one shotted Kazzak. Blizzard hotfixed it within a day.

"Hey, Azuregos is right here!"
"Oh that's nice- wait what"
Made me genuinely laugh out loud
same 😂😂
Or the "Pet bomb" plague......
Got hit a few times^^
I'm still laughing days later. I need this in a soundbite/gif combo
Same!
Your not the only one ahah
I've heard this story so many times, saw videos of it, but I've never saw it executed like this ... NEED MOOOAAAARRRR NAW!
I'm happy you enjoyed it ^^
This video was a pleasure, dont ever stop Grim
I'm glad you liked it ^^
tried naming my first wow character in vanilla Grim, but name was taken on Tanaris lol
I love these historic event videos. Thank you for taking the time to learned the younger WoW players.

8:56 "What in Oblivion is that?" I know where that's from! 😛
Kazzy, Undead Plague, Hakkar blood, damn so many memorable moments in wow.
Honestly this is why I’m addicted to wow. These were the best times, these are core memories.
i love that players tried to bring him to their king for help
5:48 oh no, not the Derek too
"Hunter - the root of all of Azeroth's problems" well said Cpt Grim, well said 😎🍸

Hunters truly are the agents of the apocalypse.
A world boss invading a main city like that should be an event that happens often in the game it would make it all the more amazing
Love this mini series of grim covering wow events with a mix machinima.
Only Captain Grim can make me watch AD's and enjoy them!
I was a small child when this event happened and I remember vividly my mom screaming at her screen because Kazak targeted her tank.
Good times.

The bullied demon proved himself to the burning legion, and his wings grew three sizes that day.
I witnessed this back in 2007 I believe. The whole city of stormwind vs this guy. It was absolute fucking chaos and awesome lmao
I Love Your Videos, Thank You for doing This

Shandris in Ogrimmar was amazing! Her AOE Moonbeam looked so damn cool could watch that happen 24/7

This was fucking amazing...Honestly, I wish gamers/game devs still did stuff like that...
I was present, once, when Shandris Feathermoon was pulled to Orgrimmar. It was awesome, even though it gave me one helluva repair bill.
My dad was in the same guild as one of the hunters who pulled Kazzik to storm wind, the guy was called Cookiemonster and was even mentoring my dad on how to play hunter. When a GM finally stepped in they told him they would get banned if they tried it again.
And that is why Mobs now have a limited distance they can follow someone.
Oh, how interesting that Highlord Kruul replaced Kazzak in TBC. Kruul, then in the distant future, becomes the Legion mage tower tank boss. So he wasn't just a one-off!
I remember on a server i played on guilds had started setting up patrols and arranging safe transport to the surrounding towns for low levels
When the demon pulled up and just stared at the player:
"WHATS GOOD NI......"(I cant say the rest but you get the idea)!
Objection! Stormwind didn't have an auction house back then. Lord I remember that event, that was so long ago.
With authentic 800x600 below 25FPS camera coverage from reporters at the scene of the event.
Ngl it’s crazy how much of vanilla wow’s iconic moments were literally due to the lack of guard rails in the game
i like the depiction of GMs as a godlike being.

Theese edits are hilarious and its nice to get to know that :D
I do miss the early days of online gaming. 80% of the playerbase was clueless and we got to figure things out together.
Blizzard should have embraced this, even make new events where people get a 30 min warning before doom falls upon thier capital.
I remember the trains in EQ... it was great fun when you had a good enough group to kill the train!
We're getting closer to him talking about the in-game funeral.
The sped up dancing KILLS me
I really love seeing this put to film, as it were. :D
If Blizzard does another SoM. They should have a random event that spawns once every few weeks/months. That sends Demons to the main cities. And if players fail to kill the invasion. They will take over the city for a week.
I can see devs painstakingly designing ways to prevent this in their games, when the opposite path could be more welcoming by the community

i remember doing this. i wasnt horde. but me and bored guildies wanted to kill him. so just pulled him all the way to SW just to get the kill =)
