Great videos. I have a situation with my 17 macan gts that I haven’t been able to resolve since I bought it a year ago. The ac blows a weird smell only for the first few seconds after the vehicle is turned on. This has me puzzled. I’ve used evap foam cleaner and spayed disinfectant with no luck. No coolant leak detected. The ac blows cold air. However, a few days ago I was about to do an oil change myself (thanks to you). The vehicle had been parked overnight and I proceeded to put it on ramps. I immediately noticed water dripping below the tc area. Keep in mind the vehicle was cold after being parked overnight. It made me wonder if the hvac system has a valley where water accumulates and this may be causing the foul smell. Or maybe water was just sitting on the belly pan. Do you happen to know the exact location for the hvac drains? Are these visible from under the vehicle? Thanks in advance for your help and for making great videos.
@@1000raulm This is a good observation. You may be correct in which there may be a dead leg or spot inside the evaporator which not allow full drainage. This is a common issue in high mileage Macans. It happened with mine. I basically inundated the evaporator with Klima cleaner to be able to get rid of the odor. The drain tubing I believe comes out towards the side of the transmission/transfer case…. Passenger side. That general area. But maybe if you take the cabin filter out, you could explore the drain area with a borescope. I’ll do that next time I’ll replace the cabin filter.
Thanks for replying. I’ve read of many people experiencing the same issue with their hvac but no one has been able to figure out what’s causing the problem. I’m almost certain the water I saw dripping came out of the hvac. I’m sure water drips on the tc belly pan, but it should evaporate overnight specifically since it drips on the heat shield. Resolving this mystery will help many macan owners out there. BTW: can the evaporator foam cleaner be sprayed also through the upper vents? Thanks again.
@@1000raulm I opened the filter housing and removed the cabin filter. Then attached the sprayer straw/tubing to the tip of my borescope so that I could see what I was doing inside. I put a towel on the floor mat to collect spills. Introduced the borescope with the straw(tubing) until I was able to see the heat exchanger and then started spraying like crazy. I emptied 2 cans. Then I let it drain for a few minutes, and then turned AC on high for about 15 minutes. Then reinstalled cabin filter and close the lid. I was able to see foamy water draining through the drain at the bottom of the car. This is what I used: a.co/d/eBnSOzf I would not recommend introducing the foam via the vents. No guarantee that you will clean the actual heat exchanger. The way I did it was very effective and the odor hasn’t returned yet after over a year. You could also introduce a bit of antibacterial Lysol into the AC intake which is located on the cowl. That doesn’t help as much… in my case odor would return in a matter of weeks using this method.

This is in the video description (copied here for your convenience).. Try this to see if it works. If you have a timeout try running this command with a Terminal application (you can download a terminal app from the Google store) "setprop service.adb.tcp.port 5555" it will enable ADB listening on port 5555 then restart If the issue persist, open your config.txt and add the following line "service.adb.tcp.port=5555", then copy the config.txt and LSEC files into a FAT32 formatted usb drive and connect it to the USB data port. Let it install and then reboot. This should take care of the issue.
