Just wanted to say hello from the McCullen family in eastern US . WE'VE HAD 31 calves born since the first of the year but all are well . On the coldest wet nights we did roll out some wheat straw in the wooded areas and the good moms and GOD did the rest. GOD bless.
That's quite a blizzard you have over there. Appreciate the shout out! I heard on the radio this morning that we may get 6 to 9 inches from Saturday to Sunday. Keeping them bulls out at the right time can save some headaches, I still need to get that part figured. The herd is looking good, and spring is around the corner. Thank you Sean and have a wonderful day.
No bother at all George 👌us RA men have to stick together. When do ye normally get to see the ground again? I think this was our last blast of winter hopefully a bit of heat soon.
@@seanofalluinregenerativefa4569 absolutely, hopefully we will see the ground by the end of March, then it's time to put up more fence and start grazing stockpile.
Good call on your adjustment on your calving date. The best part of Adaptive Rotational Grazing is the adaptive part. Making changes so in the future you have less to worry about is a great improvement.
Looks a bit Cavanada all right. At least the snow has built up your confidence in the outwintering hardiness of your cattle. April will be grand in your system but check your grass growth this spring datewise and tailor accordingly. The last week of March could be perfectly fine. I think it is better to have the calf just as the grass is about to take off.
Great video i found u from George Heller its awesome that there is so many regen ag ranchers starting channels. Hello from Central Montana USA keep up the good work on your videos i started my channel on the first of the year ill tell you im so tired of winter it isnt funny.
Super stuff lad thank you I'll check it out👌 we'll start a revolution one video at a time. What's interesting is how it can be implemented in all environments and weather. I've not got my system perfected yet but I love the trial and error, its what keeps us interested 👌
Here in Minnesota in the US we got at least two feet of snow we got a another 6 to 10 in Saturday and Sunday with blizzard conditions 40 mph winds I don't have a lot of trees in the pen for a windbreak so the sheep and goats and cattle are able to go in the pole barn which the east side is all open but they can get out of the North wind the only bad thing is when you have an East wind but they're a lot tougher than you give them credit for
All looking very contented. Would you think about wearing a dust mask when working with the hay for your allergies. You never showed mammy galloway to us. Keep the stove going. No snow here in Waterford. Thanks for the video
Hi Marie big hello to all in Waterford. your right sorry I forgot her. she's moving on nicely and still in with a good chance of being first. Yes I should really wear the mask I'm trying a trick I've learnt and it's to sting my self with nettles every Friday or once a week and my hay fever will clear up. I've ment to try it for years but this year is the year.😁
Ya should head to the mart with a couple of those calves. Weanlings a mighty trade. Every calf today in ballymote mart over 300kg made over a grand no matter the breed or whether it was a bull or heifer
If a cow did calve yesterday would you house them in weather like that? Hate being back to this weather and forecast is bad with lots of rain forecast next week. February was just to good of a month to be true...we got spoiled
Yesterday was a real eye opener tbh lad. Having the cows calving now is not ideal at all. I would bring them up to the yard yes and in to a shed. I've a few real sheltery places close by also.
Hi Sean, any advice on starting out in farming.. I'm hoping to lease some 10 -15 acres in the coming months!! With time being my biggest obstacle .. what's my easiest path, do you think? Conal, Co.cavan
Well Conal how are things. If you wanted you could by a few sucks and rear them indoors now and they'll be strong for when you get the land. Cattle are dear now I hear. A few bwh hiefers would be nice and a few black Angus they'd be the best value and if you intend on holding them over the winter you could bull them the coming year . I'd stay away from the black and whites bulls if you could. The bbxf are dear calves and not great as weanlings, they turn out like the mothers. Personally I'd buy hiefers it gives you an option weather to beef or bull Best of luck lad in your new adventure and if you make money excellent and just break even at least you didn't drink it but have something to sell👏👌

Nice bit of snow Sean , thought I was watching George Heller for a second 😂
Haha they have real winters in minnesota. But my nerves where tested for sure
@@seanofalluinregenerativefa4569 now you have the Christmas cows 😁 that is crazy
Aries the Ram , end of March-April

Just think that spring will be soon 👌
That's it Ronald not long now thank God. A bit of heat would be lovely 👌

@@mariepower4260 apparently it works 🤗 thank you
A picturesque video Sean, we didn't have taé for ages, not a bother on the cattle.
😄 Was great to see them happy the next morning. But a real eye opener for not calving as early again. March is to unpredictable

Interesting Andrew. Thanks for the heads up👌
what's going on there
They not bothered by that weather at all now if they were goats that would be different
They'd be gone to the neighbours 😁
👍

Cripes Sean, you got a fair fall of snow but your stock are looking well. Where are you farming if that's not an unreasonable question?
Well John yes we had a nice bit alright, up here in the hills of cavan 👌
What part of the country are ye in, somehow I had it in my head that you were Kerry
Up in the hills of cavan del but my family are west clare 👌
@@seanofalluinregenerativefa4569 a very nice part of the country, I’m Tipperary myself.
