Another great video... Those new born calves are a treat to see! They are for sure the silver lining to all the bad weather. As for the blue cow... she needs help!!! I don't think you need to dry her up. A second dose and additional feed, (or as we would say in days gone bye, "a couple of handfuls of nuts") would work wonders. She may not suit your style of farming, but that's not her fault. There are farmers who would pay BIG money for her, she has proven to be a excellent breeder and mother. I would suggest you take both her and her calf, along with Davey's heifer (as you call her) and calf and put them together in that fenced off field that you used for calving a few years back. Davey heifer has more than enough milk to feed her own beautiful calf and supplement the blue's calf. Then as the blue recovers, she will be well fit to feed her own beautiful calf. I would guesstimate the blue and her calf to make somewhere around 2,500 euro, maybe even more. Good luck...If you snooze, you will lose
Well tomas thank you for your insights. I took her out yesterday and gave her an injection and another dose. She seems to be more relaxed today no pressing. I try to supplement the calf on beag actually when I had her held but she wasn't very hungry. Blue seems to have a wee sup enough fir now. I'll keep an eye on her.. As soon as I'm tested i may sell her and calf even though in fond of the calf but she makes the outfit appealing I suppose. Thanks again 2500 would be great to get.
Beautiful calf Sean, I remember being sent out to check on cows and sheep in the middle of the night, and I been fed on a diet of ghost stories. I used to be terrified I would meet a ghost in the dark. I love the sound of the birds singing, and your commentary, you really love your livestock.

Had to bring my sister to fly out to see and help my niece close up her apartment at Veterinary University. I get to do it again next Thursday to pick them up. A fantastic calf, Seánie. Beautiful. I'm delighted you've another top class heifer. You really have a top class homebred pick now to retain the best ones. I completely agree: those galloway calves look great and thick. Maybe the extra fluffy hair adds to the thick look (to a certain extent), but on camera they look amazing! I'm going to be raging when your calving season is over 😂

You know I could nearly clear the whole lot out and keep just Davies hiefer her calf from last year and this year and start all over again. If I ever needed to liquidate that's exactly what I would do. But then don't you know I'd be. Well maybe hold this one and ah sure she's lovely too. God help us I could do with another 40 acres 😂

Will you supplement the blues calf with a bottle or will you take her from the cow altogether. You are doing a great job , I love your chats with the cows, I am inclined to have full blown conversations with animals also. It helps to distress them when they know the voice. No need for a deck chair with the last one.😂
I’d say that blue cow has an infection Sean . When she tried to pee in the last video (8.12 )something was wrong. Maybe she hasn’t cleaned properly, that’s why she has no milk

Some super nice calves this year. You missed a good time to tag that heifer calf when she was so quiet. Do you wait to castrate your bull calves? I know many farmers in the UK feed them out as bulls. 🙂

Well Joel. Yes I squeeze them as yearlings. They to get as much natural growth out of the manhood as possible.
