Plz answer me Doc, I have question & I feel so scary about this. First of all. I dont have complain, pain or any other feelings in my Wisdom teeth. 10 years ago, I already extract (1 in my right jaw) because next 2 row beside it. I have crown & I have hole in my teeth (already covered with filling) cuz doctor said , that two teeth, not strong enough to hold pressure. So if I want that two teeth last longer better I remove my Wisdom teeth. Then I removed. This was years ago, I forget am I swollen? am I feel pain/ fever?. But thanks to God. I pass all that. Now I have one left, in my left jaw. I dont feel pain at all. No complain. But I want 2 remove it. Cuz doctor suggestion (i have horizontal Wisdom, under gum, i only see upper crown side) Now. I scared. Cuz few weeks ago I see news. Patient die after this surgery (i think is infection) she swollen in her face & neck area, difficult to breath, also not easy to open her mouth. Also there problem with her lungs 🤧😭 So please enlight me. I want to remove but to scare with after surgery. What happened in First week after surgery is my concern. I'm scared 😭
Hey, sorry you are nervous. That's not unusual. If you have a partially erupted, horizontally impacted wisdom tooth, you should strongly consider removing it before you likely develop intermittent pain and swelling due to poor hygiene. I would recommend that you consult your local oral surgeon about the risks, benefits and potential alternatives. Good luck! You'll do fine. Dr. Aiken
@@andrewaiken413 yes, orthognathic surgery. I have an edge to edge underbite (class 3 malocclusion) and a cross bite on both sides. So it would mainly be a maxilla expansion and advancement
Why would a oral surgeon use a steroid for a lower wisdom tooth extraction? I am not fond of steroids because they don't lever your body and can cause issues with vision or diabetes.
Oral surgeons commonly use a peri-operative steroid to 1) reduce post-op inflammation and 2) reduce post-op pain. It's usually via a one-time IV dose or a short oral course. I hope that helps. Dr. Aiken
@@Oralsurgeryspecialistsatlanta Thanks for the reply. My concern is that certain steroids never leave your body and can cause hormonal and vision issues, some lower immune system.. but I would guess that is with long term use. The hormonal and vision issue are two thing I defiantly don't need😁 Can you tell me if they one time peri-operative steroid, Is one that your body will shed or remain.

@@Oralsurgeryspecialistsatlanta Thanks again, I was doing some online research because thanks to covid my job and medical insurance disappeared...lol But have to get a bottle left wisdom tooth extracted along with a root canal on my lower right molar in front of the wisdom... With a local anesthesia.. So this is going to be fun.. My 3 older siblings wisdom's where all removed.. But I am the last... So I guess they ran out of money...lol I'm guessing they should have been taken out before around age14yrs.

Can you tell your oral surgeon to not use the steroid? I don’t want that in my body at all.
Of course you can. Your doctor can't do anything to you that you don't authorize. 🙂
Is wisdom teeth removal necessary for jaw surgery?
What kind of “jaw surgery”, orthognathic surgery?

Hey. If it’s upper wisdom teeth, then yes, those would be taken out at the same time.
@@andrewaiken413 why tho? if my wisdom teeth are healthy?
@@enriquesuarez7113 are they erupted or impacted?
