    Hi, I’m Zoe! (Pronounced like Zoey) I’m a 27 year old from Montreal making videos about my REAL life. After quitting my management consulting "dream job", then being laid off from a startup job, I decided to take a chance and work for myself. I'm now mainly focused on UA-cam (my absolute passion) and side-hustle contracts in the copywriting and admin fields.
    My videos centre around work, gentle productivity, mental health & personal wellness, with a touch of fashion, tech, and whatever else I'm living. I have a lot of financial anxiety and an avoidant style. I bought a condo in 2022 and knew things were going to be tight. I feel like I don’t spend but I’m always spending more than my income. This year my goal is to really track what I spend because according to a preliminary budget I made, I should have enough money to save but somehow I’m always going over.

    Hi Zoe! Love your videos :) and the new upgrade in quality is awesome!
    I was wondering if in near future you could do a video on the journey with your cash envelope and tracker system?
    I just started with mine and already see some ways that i get off track so-to-speak. I was wanting to know in your experience if you had the same and how you overcame/improved on it.
    I noticed my first month was going strong, but found that I was convincing myself to switch around and use money from different categories to “top up” others. Then when i was writing in the expense log, it didn’t seem accurate and got a little confusing.
    Has this happened to you? And how did you improve on the budgeting discipline?
    Thank you!!! Keep up the amazing work! Wishing you a wonderful and successful 2024!

    • @ZoePritchard
      @ZoePritchard  5 місяців тому

      hey great question!! for the most part, i do not allow myself to move cash between envelopes as I find it gets to overwhelming. Instead, I'll supplement with debit or credit and log it as such. Then at the end of the month I can see where I went over. After a few months you'll see trends and you'll know if you need to change your budget.
      Let me know if that makes sense!

    • @emas848
      @emas848 5 місяців тому

    Zoe, I budget, but my sinking funds, I have some and a few are (Occasions,) like birthday, weddings baby showers, etc..I have a (Holiday) envelope for the holidays, like mothers day, fathers day, 4th of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, i use the holiday envelope to buy Christmas wrapping paper, lights, food, assories,Etc..I only use my (Christmas) envelope for gifts only, that way im not dipping into my gift budget for Christmas.I only want to use my 🎄 Christmas budget for gifts only .That way i can buy nicer things for my loved ones. I have more , but These are the ones, i use the most..
    I save for Christmas all year, Starting in January so i dont have to play catch up and if i have more then i need in my envelope after I Christmas shop then i will add on to the gifts, I already bought or I will treat myself to something I really want, or I will roll it over to the next year .

    I think you have too many categories. If it helps you achieve your goals, though, great! For most people trying to parse things out to this detail would cause them to stop after a few months. And I think years from now, you'll look back and realize that Gas, Car Stuff, and Parking are really all part of Transportation. Similarly, Therapy, Personal Care, and Workouts could all be subsets of Healthcare.

    • @ZoePritchard
      @ZoePritchard  5 місяців тому

      the more the merrier! I think for many having them separate helps assign a dollar amount they can stick too, because at the end of the day gas and car repairs are not the same thing.

    1. What kind of system ( computer) best supports the program you use?
    2. Is there a huge learning curve for the program?
    3. Is there a fee for the budget tracker?
    4. Is this budget tracker a your eyes only? ( meaning there isn’t a company or bank that can see your info?
    5. You mentioned that you have an office you pay for… what kind of job/ business do you do?
    6. When you say you have several bank accounts… would you recommend all at the same bank or different places?❤thank you!!!

      hi!! the program is a google sheet, so you only need a browser (chrome for example) and no one else can see it - your eyes only! It is a one-time purchase and you can make a copy and re-use year after year. Super affordable and easy!
      I work as a freelance copywriter and I also earn a living off of my UA-cam channel! Lastly, I recommend only having one or two banks for all your accounts to keep things simple. I use RBC as my main bank, and WealthSimple for any money that I don't need quick access to.

    How do you feel about carrying around a $1000 in cash in your purse? I would be concerned about theft and/or loosing my purse.

      from the ATM I hate it, normally I don't go walk around right after, just get back in my car. But once they are sorted in my envelopes I don't mind for some reason 😂 knock on wood I always feel safe! Also, I rarely carry the full amount with me, I'll just take the envelopes I need when I need them

      @@ZoePritchard I know some people do more weekly budgets that way. That might be more manageable for my personal comfort.

    Why not tax free saving account instead of RRSP?

    • @ZoePritchard
      @ZoePritchard  5 місяців тому

      rrsp helps lower your taxable income which is more helpful to me than tax free gains right now :)

    SAYING THIS AS ZOE STANNNNN (this is feedback; but you have 0 obligation to listen to it!! only offering because you specifically asked :) and obvi will still watch because I love your personality and this is YOUR channel so you can do whatever you want and whatever feels good to you!!! (coming from another content creator -- dont feel pressure to have to listen to your audience!) I actually really miss your old sound -- this feels a bit muffled the lighting makes it feel a bit more sterile. I love your old sound much better -- and I love your videos because they so often feel like on facetime with a bestie. I actually avoid youtube videos that feel "professional" -- and I gravitate people who are messy and organic. I feel it's been a trend in social media such that channels with "less professional" quality attract audience that have higher engagement (and thus good for brand deals bc we trust you more and more willing to engage due to an investment in the person) and loyal due to the authentic feel; even if the more structured channels may "get more views" if that makes sense? Once again -- ALLLLLL feedback and my personal thoughts that you can happily throw out the window :) But always down to discuss if you'd ever like or are ever looking for a social media management intern :)

      hiii i actually super know what you mean! i also dont watch over-edited or overly professional content because i like the natural vibes. I think Ill always keep those natural vibes for my vlogs, but needed to find a way to film from my office sometimes 🙈 so itll be a mix! but i really appreciate your honest feedback!

      also I'm shook because I too found the sound a touch muffled, but everyone I showed it to said I was being crazy 😂

      I actually think this is a great balance! Like currently watching your January reset and love the old sounds and vibes BUT for like the sit down videos then the mic & lights make a lot more sense! I think I was afraid it would merge into the vlogs and they would lose their character but I think your idea is good especially if it makes you able to film in your office bc that must be so frustrating! thanks for the reply!! :) @@ZoePritchard
