I know they recomand it wash it every time but that's just to sell you the new one, I did that mistake the interior was still white like the new one, once I was it turned grey like yours, that's because with water all dust bypass on the other side, my recomandation if you have another vacum just just vacum the blue part of the filter others use air blowers. That's how the smell will come from washing.

Thank you for the recommendation. The issue is the dust is really fine and it acts like it would be fine particles of dirt so, for me at least to wash it it's the easiest way. i don't have another vacuum cleaner. But I try to look up for the discount on these filters to get them at 1/3 of the normal cost. I am still using the first filter of this new vacuum cleaner and since I have a spare one I expect them to last for at least 2 years from now. Hopefully the vacuum will last longer than the filters :D
