Agree! Also gimli procs mazarbul and there and back again, and doesn’t lose you axe and bow (compare to splitting Boromir who loses you horn of gondor). Great stuff Rompsteel!
It would be interesting to see if this changes with WOME. Eagles seem to be quite good at helping defend DEW while, otoh, separating Gandalf and Aragorn becomes a lot more appealing for Ents and Dead Men respectively.
I'm beginning to like the alternates more and more. I've used the ability of both hobbits to cancel a tile, at a moment that was crucial to win the game. I've also seen Dunadan make a difference on two moves that helped win a game. I often like starting Boromir in Minas Tirith. I have a limited playing circle, though, and we don't seem to go after DEW like you experts seem to do as a standard play.
Yeah! And that's one of the epic things about this expansion, is that they're all still reasonable options! This is, of course, just my opinion, people can separate literally anything and still win the game. I've seen separating a hobbit win, boromir win, or Legolas win too.
@@rompsteelwarofthering6490 Indeed. The extra depth to the game is why I prefer Lords. We often had epic confrontations between Boromir and Gothmog over Minas Tirith and environs.
Some additional thoughts on the alternates now that I've played more. One thing that took me a long time to discover is that the alternate Boromir, Legolas, and Gimli don't trigger Worn With Sorrow and Toil if they're using their Guide ability to separate. Since that card has often been a big pain for me, it's nice to not have to worry about it as much. Also, with Dunadan as guide, I'm less afraid to take him as a casualty for 3-tile. Normally I'd be inclined to keep Strider for his hiding ability, but if I've chosen Dunadan, the decision is relatively easy if a 3 is drawn. @@rompsteelwarofthering6490

That's true! If I get into WOME some day maybe I can make an updated list

Nice video. Could you do the same about WoME factions please?
Hopefully some day, I don't actually know the WOME expansion very well yet
Bro dont know how to play military free people? (Military strategy of the alternative companions complete ignored)
