- This video shows two different methods for lifting and removing old rail track panels at Serbian railways main lines. First method shows Russian technology for lifting and removing old track panels. Second method is a combination of using several different machines in order to achieve the same.
The first method:
from 0:00 to 10:43 and from 17:06 to the end;
The second method:
from 10:43 to 17:06
On several sections of old railway lines, as part of the railway reconstruction projects, some parts of the old railway track have to be removed. To be removed the old track had to cut into parts, up to 25m length. In this video, each part of old rail track is track panel of about 22.5m long. It has about 38 sleepers, rails type UIC 49 and have a mass of about 12 tons.
These works are performed at Serbian railways as a part of the reconstruction of Belgrade - Novi Sad - Subotica railway line. Part of the works on the section between Stara Pazova and Novi Sad is performed by the company of Russian Railways. Russian technology uses a large rail crane for rail track panels lifting and Russian Railways vehicles for rail track panels transporting.
Another method shows reconstruction works at one section of the Belgrade railway junction. To be lifted and carried away the old track, it's used combination of some heavy rail machines. Excavator is used for moving the track to achieve enough space for making a crane path. Another excavator is creating a crane path of two rails outside the existing old railway track. Upon completion of the crane path, a special crane is used for lifting the old track. These works include the Bulgarian locomotive (Romanian manufacturer), Romanian wagons, some Austrian heavy rail machinery, works are performed by Serbian workers and this reconstruction of Serbian railways is done under the leadership of a Chinese company...
Old track panels are usually transported to old, local railway lines all over Serbian railways that will be reconstructed using these panels.
Transporting of old rail panels:
from 22:31 to the video end.
Dates of recordings:
January 2018. and February 2019. -
That gravel bump is so satisfying to watch.
That rail looks like it still in good shape too...compared to some of the track we have in the US.
Are you a rail expert?
Still looked fairly new. Concrete ties are fairly recent.
To Reuse these Sections , is Excellent and gives a whole new meaning to the Investment.
What an incredible piece of equipment! That definitely makes track removal easy to say the least.
I like the way they remove the stones from the sleepers!
Ballast. Someone thought of that in the design. Impressive.

This tool is very good. on Indonesia there is no tool like this👍👍👍
The rails taking a ride, for a change. Literally.
That's quite a machine. That's around 40 thousand pounds of track panel lifted with a flat boom
The video was really interesting! I really appreciate it that you took the time to provide us with some infromation. Greetings from Bulgaria!
Thank you! I'm glad you appreciate it. Many greetings to you from Belgrade.
finally all my questions have been answered!
ok whatever you said!!!
🌹VERY NICE VIEW.. AND.. VERY GOOD VIEW🌹👍
VERY interesting, I just watched the passenger train cab view the other day and noticed this going on so this was really cool to watch. Thank you for sharing
mazing, amazing technique. Thank you for sharing.
You're welcome.
That operator should be wearing safety googles! Sitting that close to all that movement and rocks, etc. Great video, love seeing how things like this are done.
Awesome video, thanks for sharing!
You're welcome!
Odličan video Dule. Hvala puno!
Hvala lepo!
Sjajan video! Prelepi ulovi!
Hvala!
That's KEWL !!!
Thank you for making the video and posting it! Verrry good!
full scale 12 ton flex track ! . . . . . .gotta luv it !
Wonderful ..... heavy work but interesting ....
As belas paisagens que eu gostei muito;
Foram rápidas;
Gostei de ver tudo!
Obrigada!
Awesome film, thank You very much.
You're welcome.
Awesome amazing incredible incroyable and great work for the next few years and the new one
Pretty cool we could use that over here in North America when they're replacing track panels at crossings.
really cool piece of machinery
Odličan video Duleeee!!!!
Hvala!
Thanks, Susan. hat was a great piece of engineering education. 👍🏼
Sorry about that, Dusan - my auto-correct was too quick....
No problem :) You're welcome.
i like those reconstruction videos.nice to see the replacement from the track.thanks Dulevoz.greetz:Peerke.
You're welcome.
Fascinating on how they do that.
Thanks for following the construction too, Slovenia is also reconstructing a lot of railway tracks, it's quite old and terrible here but things are finally started moving these 2 years and this year is the biggest the whole network half closed for months at a time.
I've just been to Slovenia and the railways there are great! Old, terrible? It took no time to get from Hodos to Ljubljana, even though the train had already been delayed in Hungary. The speed is great, there is no noise, and given the difficult mountainous terrain, there is no way it could get better. In Romania, the distance from Hodos to Ljubljana takes 30 more minutes to cover, even though there are 3 times fewer stops and the railway is only across the plain, no hills, no mountains, nothing difficult. Plus, the Slovenian trains are wonderfully comfortable (the wagons, not the Desiros), and clean and well kept. I wish I saw such great trains in Romania but aside a few private operators and a few state run trains, the others are terrible (even though 3 years ago things were much, much better).
Amazing technology. Imagine how long it took to pull up rails in the old days.
Thomas Mann , talk of man-hours to do it and you appreciate the efficiency using machines.

*Great video. Greetings from Vietnam*
Thank you!
Nice to know how it's done. Thx
Amazing rail movie! Beautiful images with rail machinery in action! Good job, master! Thumbs Up
All the best from Romania
Andrew
Thank you Andrew!
Shucks, I did that on my model train layout all the time...no crane either. Still, I'd never seen this machine in action...cool.
A very interesting video thanks for sharing your videos
Amazing railroad repair with heavy equipment, great videos 👍
Hello from France wonderful video thank you for posting ^^
*_BRAVO BRAVO. SUPER._*
Very different to when I worked on the mtnewman track in the seventies
Great video 📹 👍
INCRÍVEL UAU ! 😳
Olha!
Me senti impaciente!
Gracias
De nada.
Cool video !!!! Id definitely do that for a job. Cool as hell 😎👍
Thank you.
Nice to see an dedicated video edit correctly referring to the load having a mass of Kilograms rather than an unknown variable force "weight" in kilo Newtons too often designated in kilogram òomass units
i never knew train tracks were so jiggle!
very interesting this dulevoz binary lifting system
Thanks.
Definitely very cool

Brawo super videos 💯👏👏👍☺
Thanks.
It's amazing video.
Greetings from indonesia
Thank you!
Very interesting video. Greetings from India 🇮🇳
Thank you!
It’s sad too though to see the end of an era for so many lines.
Try to read what is written: it is a railroad reconstruction.
That's some good engineering
Nice video! 👍😃
Thanks.
VIVA A DEUS E SUAS CRIAÇÕES
Can they reuse the old sleepers? there was some very smart technology in use here. Thanks for a very outstanding video on how they rerailed their roadbeds. (Mississippi gulf coast, USA)
I would love to do this job.
This is very impressive. I wonder how new track is laid and how they manage to get everything so level.
Do a search for _Plasser & Theurer SVM1000 track layer_ on UA-cam. Amazing technology.
Sad to see rails being removed
Pracowałem na takim UK 45 w latach 80.
Tylko trawersy miał inne , na łańcuchy.
As always dulevoz, your videos are interesting and professional in presentation.
Sjajan video.
Hi. Do you happen to have any info on the actual status of the works? Do you happen to know how much part Russian and how much Chinese colaboration? Would also ask about the cost, but I believe I've asked a lot already :)
I watch video of them lying new track, that is really impressive
super great video
Thanks.
Great technology
I love this place.which place I want be there.
That's kool and I hear messenger noise
Wonderful Super The Video for The Train and The Railway 👍👍👍👍
Thanks.
👍
Ha Dulevoz, very interesting video.are they putting new rails on the track with the concrete layers?
Thank you. The new tracks will be with concrete sleepers dropped down at classic balast.
Não consigo imaginar. Moroes perfeito e eles estão trocando. Aqui no Brasil ferrovias abandonadas. Estradas amburacadas
Nice video and interesting! Ai love your video! Cab view?
Thank you! The next cabview will be published soon, I hope it will be so.
Interesting video, but sad that they remove the railroad
It's a reconstruction, nothing sad here. They replacing it with more durable rails.
Fascinating. Do you know the Russian equipment got there? Did it come via rail and have the gauge changed, or was it transported there some other way?
I don't know in this case, but huge machines are often transported by barge, and then a crane is used to move then around.
@Railroad Videos
@Princeofcups Poc
Russian rail vehicles, such as those shown in the video, can easily be transported by land, using railways. Only in places where the track gauge changes, the bogies of these vehicles must be changed.
For the first method, wouldn't it make more sense to have one guy on either side to swing the tracks to remove the ballast stones? At some points the one guy doing it seems to struggle getting it to swing far enough and has to swing it a 2nd time.
Swing is done by lifting cables.
GOOD JOB .... from pakistan
Did they make a bicycle path after removing those railroad tracks?
Looks like the spider from the flick..WILD WILD WEST
Do they have a machine that can retrieve the gravel after this?
Reminds me to much when the RR let the line through my town go to hell so they could justify tearing it up! But then the RR only had themselves to blame when trucks moved the frieght much more efficiently and customers didn't need to stock such a heavy supply.
R they going to put new rails down?
Very interesting and excellent video - do yoou have any word on a possible new locomotive cab ride please ? I really would like one, even if you have to do one at 1080p. Could you let me know if more cab ride videos are possible ? Thanks, Dana.
Thank you. Yes, cabrides videos are possible. I have finished editing some of them and I'm waiting for processing... It may take a week or two for publication. Just be patient.
Are they putting new ones after ?
is there a part 2 coming up from the rebuild from the track?
I do not believe, maybe some part of the construction. Construction runs very, very slowly, it would have taken years to record some meaningful video material.
And never touched by human hands, Great job ?? Texas
How many miles/km per day of old track can they remove. Looks very efficient. Wish they would replace more of our (USA) track that has wooden ties with the concrete ties. Our infrastructure is pathetic. They just keep replacing the wooden ties with new wooden ties.
In this case they are removing cca 1km per day. It could be much more efficient if they do not use only one train for transportation of old rail panels. Here, a new double track line will be built, instead of this single track line and it will have concrete sleepers.
Unfortunately the USA is a nation in decline and nearing the end of American hegemony.
@@dulevoz Thank you. One area in the USA that they use concrete sleepers is in the railroad tunnels. Much more difficult to replace wooden ties in the tunnels. The concrete sleepers last with very little maintenance.
US declining is BS...we still have the most efficient RR system in the world. We move frieght $, not people anymore.
People fly or drive personal cars everywhere.... you just don't know how small and crappy the rest of the world is. We have a lot of money in the US and it shows.
I work for the railroad, I'll explain. In America the railroads are private property so the owners choose how to maintain them a hardwood tie here in WA State is around $60 versus $100 for a concrete tie. If we're just maintaining a track why would we spend that much on ties? Honestly it's just a basic economics game here.
That roadswitcher looks like the two quzrterhorse units that Washington Terminal bought back in the '70's. What is the gauge width of that track?
Standard gauge, 1435 mm / 4 ft 8 1⁄2 in.
