    It's been a few months back but I took the wheels and tire assemblies with the O-Ring seals in place, lubed with petroleum jelly, to my local tire shop where they used their high pressure blaster effect to pop the tire beads out to seal on the rims and inflate the tire. Took about 30 seconds at no charge. The tires haven't leaked since. Installing the dual disc brake assemblies on each wheel and then mounting both tires/wheels/brake assemblies on the large main landing gear bow was the bigger challenge. I mounted both inflated tires with brake assemblies in place on the inverted landing gear bow and then gently put the bow/tire assembly on the ground and rolled it under the fuselage resting on the edge of a work bench but exposing the slot into which the bow was to be fitted. Raised the bow/tire assembly into place incrementally using a platform jack and blocks. After completing the attachment, jacked the fuselage/main gear assembly up just enough to slide the work bench out of the way and set it all down on the ground on the main tires. Thence came the nose gear assembly and the fuselage was resting on its trike landing gear.

      I remember the story you told about that Paul. I took my time, read the (Matco) manual and came up with a couple of my own tips and got her done.

    Thanks Adam, great learning video. Adam is that center hub a press fit that's why you use a rubber hammer?⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👍🏻

    • @AeroworksProductions
      @AeroworksProductions  3 роки тому

      Not exactly a press fit but snug. The hub has a slight bevel to it so I just wanted to make sure it was seated fully.

    If that is a rubber o-ring, vs a silicone one, you should never use petroleum jelly on them, the o- ring is petroleum based so is Vaseline, the Vaseline will cause the o- ring to deteriorate just like oil on tires, you need to use Silicone O-Ring lube.

    • @AeroworksProductions
      @AeroworksProductions  3 роки тому

      Good tip, not sure on the O-ring type I’ll check.

    • @dontownsend8533
      @dontownsend8533 3 роки тому

      Absolutely correct - and never grease!! It will be a rubber o-ring!!

      Actually, Matco calls for petroleum jelly or silicone for lubricant. I figure they know what they’re doing with their own products.

      Thanks we just picked up an 801 and got it home today... Was wondering about the brake set up and if my brakes will work with those wheels... What was the cost for the tires and wheels?

    • @AeroworksProductions
      @AeroworksProductions  2 роки тому

      @@rsrguy Not sure on individual cost as they came in my complete kit. I do know that the Super Duty was based a lot on the 801 though.

      @@AeroworksProductions stopped by Matco today... Looks like $1500 to convert to the 27" setup... If we like how the plane performs then we'll likely go that route

    FYI - That red dot on the tire is where the valve stem is to be clocked to.

    Out of curiosity, does the manufacturer give a torque requirement to mate the hubs and wheel halves?

    • @AeroworksProductions
      @AeroworksProductions  3 роки тому +2

      Yes, 100 in. pounds. Also done once all wheels were together. I’ll add that info the description.

    Hey Adam, new to your channel... very well done (all videos) pertaining to SD, which I too am getting closer to start date. But, just spit balling here, other than the CH650 RG on Zenith Aero site, have you ever considered a retractable CH750 SD ??? I may be crazy, but I’m going with Viking 195T VIP, and want to fab the main gear to sweep back into the fuselage behind the main balk head aft of 3rd seat area. This would look very similar to the old Grumman Goose, no doors. The nose would retract very similar to the CH650. Engine mount would need to be customized and maybe some clever design changes. Probably everyone’s first question is why? Wheel pants don’t work for me, cost is not as big a factor for me, so also similar to a Cessna Cardinal RG. Curious, What’s your take??

    This is excellent, I'm about to upgrade to this set up on my Kitfox as soon as Desser re-stocks the tires. Are your wheels the standard Matco MHMHE8B? And did you anodize them yourself or was that an option from Matco?

    • @AeroworksProductions
      @AeroworksProductions  3 роки тому

      Standard Matco wheels provided through Zenith in a Super Duty kit. I did send back to Matco for anodizing.
