Catriona is undoubtedly the pageant queen who can win any beauty pageant but that year Stephanie was the best.Miss world has different requirements and miss universe has different requirements maybe a person who has all the qualities of miss universe can lack in some qualities of Miss World and vice verca. We don't know how much hard work they had put for the competition so we can't judge them. But definitely Stephanie has the miss World aura and Catriona has Miss universe aura that is why both of them won in their respective competition.

And I argue that it's better for Catriona to finish outside the top three than inside because if Catriona finished as first or second runner-up, she has to be on standby often and she also has to carry out the duties of Miss World for the remainder of the year without being officially granted the title. That's what happened in Miss World 1973 when Marjorie Wallace was dethroned for violating her Miss World contract and the organization offered first runner-up Evangeline Pascual the duties without the title nor crown, but Pascual refused because she was doing a movie at the time. Jamaica's Patsy Yuen accepted the offer. Catriona Gray has a similar story with Michelle McLean: from a top five finisher in Miss World to Miss Universe titleholder. Catriona Gray isn't the only Miss World alum the Morleys, Eric and Julia, missed out on when they won Miss Universe. Georgina Rizk, Angela Visser, Michelle McLean, Mpule Kwelagobe, and recently, Andrea Meza were also Miss World alums turned Miss Universe winners.
Both Catriona and Stephanie made their countries proud by winning major pageants and nobody is going to take those away from them.

And I argue that it's better for Catriona to finish outside the top three than inside because if Catriona finished as first or second runner-up, she has to be on standby often and she also has to carry out the duties of Miss World for the remainder of the year without being officially granted the title.
That's what happened in Miss World 1973 when Marjorie Wallace was dethroned for violating her Miss World contract and the organization offered first runner-up Evangeline Pascual the duties without the title nor crown, but Pascual refused because she was doing a movie at the time. Jamaica's Patsy Yuen accepted the offer.
Catriona Gray has a similar story with Michelle McLean: from a top five finisher in Miss World to Miss Universe titleholder.
Finally, Catriona Gray's Miss Universe 2018 performance easily trumps her Miss World 2016 performance.

Catriona Gray isn't the only Miss World alum the Morleys, Eric and Julia, missed out on when they won Miss Universe. Georgina Rizk, Angela Visser, Michelle McLean, Mpule Kwelagobe, and recently, Andrea Meza were also Miss World alums turned Miss Universe winners.
Luckily Cat didn't won Miss World 2016 though her answer and Miss Kenya's is worth the Top 3.
