    The federal government isn’t even supposed to own land (according to the constitution, they get 10 square miles which is Washington D.C., forts, ports, and necessary buildings only) it’s supposed to be the states land and they should get any profits made from them.

    • @hglenn55
      @hglenn55 2 місяці тому

      Guess which president was returning land rights back to states. Guess which one stopped the process.

    • @Sapereaudex
      @Sapereaudex 7 днів тому

      While that sounds great, it’s the complete opposite of what the constitution says.
      “Pursuant to the Property Clause of the United States Constitution (Article 4, section 3, clause 2), Congress has the power to retain, buy, sell, and regulate federal lands, such as by limiting cattle grazing on them. These powers have been recognized in a long series of United States Supreme Court decisions.”
      The clause you stated regarding 10 miles of D.C.: “Clause 17" merely allows Congress to exercise exclusive control over that federal district, and over any structures constructed there deemed necessary for carrying on the business of the national government (such as forts, arsenals, and post offices). It does not preclude the federal government from purchasing or holding title to other land within the various states, or from using public land for purposes such as establishing and managing parks, forests, dams, waterways, and grazing areas without the consent of the states in which those facilities are located.
      As far as you wanting states to run these protected areas, it would never work. Do you know how much it costs to keep these areas usable/functioning for the public? Do you know how many federal agencies (and their resources) are involved in maintaining these places? We also know there’s plenty of politicians that would happily sell that land to anyone with funds to buy, regardless of ecological impact.
      Everyone should consider this specific situation when they vote this year. Regardless of your personal feelings, it’s a fact that Trump has caused the most detrimental impacts to environmental protections than any other president in history (this information is available to anyone). He reversed or rolled back over 100 environmental protections, some of which WILL BENEFIT THE MINING COMPANY IN THIS SITUATION. He fast-tracked mining permits, reduced and/or removed regulations (such as the approval and oversight to limit pollution/toxins/destruction that could taint the surrounding area).
      Although, after reading some of these comments, I realize that most aren’t concerned with the destruction to the ecosystem, nor do they comprehend how potentially devastating the impact will be on the town and residents, they’re just angry that the company is Chinese.

    Definitely go to the library and ask for a copy of the mining permit to read and review. A copy is always at the library. If not check with the State DNR office for a copy and review any recent violations and confrontations. If there is an extensive cave system underground that could lead to sinkholes in unwanted areas and especially residences being dangerous to the community especially. Document, video, and get area residents involved, news coverage also. With a dam, and the age of the dam an unwanted flood is a major disaster the area does not need.

    It will be interesting to see how the governor and AG treat this. The Saudis were easy targets before the last election, but Democrats seem reluctant to challenge the Chinese. The family that controls much of land usage in the Prescott area are the Fains. I wonder what their position is on it. Prescott and Prescott Valley still has a lot of gold, so I can see why the Chinese are moving in. Thousands of young Chinese men have been crossing the southern border into Arizona and I bet many will be at the mine. They can't come here on work visas, so maybe this is why they are entering illegally.

    Shocking,should not be allowed.What is wrong with our governments in the west.
    Similar things happening in the UK, I think either Saudi or Chinese money is behind wanting to erect 65 large wind turbines on the moors between Hebden Bridge and Haworth. These turbines will be taller than Blackpool Tower, this is natural peat moor with birds and wild life, plus a tourist area ,Top Withins the inspiration for 'Wuthering Heights' will have a huge turbine next to it.
    We fought a smaller scale development in my area about ten years ago,when they wanted to put turbines on the moors ,building on a prehistoric flint site,peat moorland and next to a local reservoir. It didn't go ahead.

    They are basically removing material. There is zero processing being done at the site. This is no different from a rock quarry situation. It is considered low environmental impact. And I'm sure they have done the impact assessments and have the statements. They will however, have to follow reclamation laws and such recommendations, when finished.
    These are facts. And because of such, the company, foreign or domestic, will be allowed to proceed and conduct business.

    Everyone needs to go file for claims there. If there are small claims all over that area they cant do it.

    I haven't verified yet but I'm hearing rumors that it's been ruled that certain people are going to be allowed to have guns. I'm trying to get confirmation.
