Thanks for the helpful tips. Id make some easily movable skirting out of all the old wood you have. Then can move them during summer to stay cool. Long as you got enough wood you'll be ok though. Sierra 💕

The one I had in the Alaska bush, I stacked straw bails all the way around. then 2x4 and plywooded the roof and straw bailed it also. Then covered the entire thing with a tarp. I also used a small woodstove and -40 with no issues!

Contractor bags over straw bales. You could shove them behind the wheels even. Just enough to keep the wind from whipping under the trailer. Also, a small piece of corrugated metal behind your stove would help deflect the heat from your stove. I love your place.

Been a long time since I’ve visited your channel. Great video. I love your setup. I’m actually getting ready to do the exact same thing. Starting off on someone else’s property fr now, but using that opportunity to pay off as much as I can and then buy a plot somewhere. Very sorry to hear about Sierra. I know you guys fought a good fight. Makes me think about my lab that cancer got about 15 yrs ago. He was my shadow. And my buddy now who’s getting up there in age. Take it easy, things will get better.

The sleeping bag on the floor is a pretty good hack. When I refurbed my camper I had to redo 1/2 of my floor so I just redid the whole thing and I spray foamed the floor at the same time I did my walls, so mine doesn't get cool very often and when it does I just wear my house shoes or doble socks but in all fairness I live north of Tucson in the Catalina Foothills and we don't get the cold that you do in Colorado. When I lived in the Midwest I would plastic over my windows and had one of those plastic curtains that you put in a walk in freezer that I screwed over my door in the winter.

For the skirting around my camper, i used reckaimed 2x4 lumber to build a framing and secured 1.5 inch foil lined foam insulation from home depot. It was about $16 per sheet and I used 4 sheet. I also got a couple extra and lined the outside walls and ceiling inside all the cabinets. Makes a world of difference

My skirting is is old plywood siding scraps and a painted thin plywood piece. The front, main side and rear are permanently installed, but the rest is just leaning up against the camper with pieces of wood against to hold it. Helps a lot versus without.

But double bubble foil insulate and skirt for no pipes freezing, bursting pipes and ruining water pump. Cost me about $250 for 26ft travel trailer for $180 foil and then screws, nails, staples. Salvaged 1x2s and old metal siding. Spray painted. No critters under as they hate the foil. Not warm and cozy for them.
