    I love the Dashing Diva gloss strips! Like you, i wish they would come out with more styles and colors. I especially love the glittery and shiny ones. I will also add a layer of clear nail polish to help them last longer!!

      Yes!! I actually just tried their glaze strips and will be sharing a wear test soon! I haven’t tried the clear polish on top, but I’ve seen a lot of people sharing that as a successful addition. ❤️

      Thank you for this video! Very clear and helpful.
      That said, for some reason I keep running into the top edges peeling up slightly even within a day or two after application (despite following all of your suggestions). I keep wondering how this doesn’t seem to happen to anyone else! Has that happened to you, and do you have any tips?

    Will definitely try the nail clipper method. I'm on my third try of the strips and that file method is just not a good look for the tips.

    You can also use acetone nail polish remover to dissolve the sticky layer 💅🏾

    the strips come with a cuticle pusher, you could be using that instead. i have a metal one i like, and a rubber tip one. Just from the dollar store

    I just found a set of these nail strips from a gift years ago and didn't remember how to use them, so thanks for this tutorial and the tips. I noticed that you use reusable cotton rounds to clean up your nails - just curious if you've ever used them with nail polish remover to remove actual nail polish? I use similar ones to remove makeup but always worried that I'd ruin them if I used nail polish remover and nail polish on them but maybe I'm wrong?

    • @MelissaRoyce
      @MelissaRoyce  2 місяці тому +1

      Glad you liked the tutorial! Since I don’t use actual nail polish anymore I can’t answer that. I personally wouldn’t use a reusable cotton round for both nail polish remover and eye makeup though. I can if it didn’t ruin them I don’t think I would want that right next to my eyes. 🤪

      @@MelissaRoyce thanks for the reply! I'd use separate ones for nails vs. eye makeup for sure.

    I just need to know how long these will last with daily cuticle oil. I use cuticle oil a lot in the winter time and at work because I’m around chemicals a lot

    • @MelissaRoyce
      @MelissaRoyce  2 місяці тому

      Mmm… good question. I think that with this style specifically it wouldn’t be good for them. If you go with more of the semi-cured style that might be better. As long as you don’t break the seal at the cuticle they should be ok. You could also swap out your cuticle oil for a lotion with shea butter in it. 😁 Hope that helps!

      Hi. I’ve used these nail strips for years and mine always last 2-3 weeks. They would probably last longer but I get bored of the design and change them out. I use cuticle oil daily. I usually apply twice a day. Morning and right before going to bed. During the winter I apply lotion on my hands more than I can count and have never had lifting problems with either lotion or cuticle oil. To be fair, I always add a top coat on my strips and will reapply a top coat after about a week of having the nail strips on. Sorry for such a long paragraph, but hoping to share my success with these lol they also help my nails grow longer. 😊

    Okay so I’ve been a color street worshipper since 2020. It’s all I wear…I have natural curves to my nails, more than most. I frustratingly tried Diva semi cure today for the first time. To start, they are very thick & fake looking, unlike color street, which smell like real nail polish and are very workable & forgiving. It was impossible to get diva to lay flat on my nails bc of the thickness (I tried everything). Since I’ve been using CS for 4 years, I am a whiz at application. I tried the diva led light gel ones first today. They would not adhere to the area by my cuticles & other parts of the nail, even after the light. They looked like fake nails. I was aggravated because how terrible they looked so I then tried another one of the diva strips, without the UV. Actually, the ones you were wearing in the video. solids don’t adhere well in CS because they buckle around the edges & the tops and these solid colored Divas are no exception. They wouldn’t adhere properly because they are so thick. I’m returning all of the diva strips I bought. Here’s why CS are better for me. They are soft and smooth to apply, easy to tear off the tip, they are 80% dry prior to application. I don’t have issues with buckling or not adhering (with glitters). I can apply a second coat with the same strip. I stick to glitters - (more forgiving hiding any imperfections)which CS has a large selection. It may be because my nails are so curvy, but it’s very disappointing to see the aftermath of the two application. I did follow all the directions - I just don’t know how a nail strip that’s so thick is going to smoothly adhere to curvy nails. I really wanted to like them - but it’s a hard pass. Maybe they adhere better to people who have straight nails and beds.

      I've never tried color street, but to my understanding they are real nail polish so they would definitely be much thinner than dashing diva's. I personally like that DD's are thicker because I feel like it hides any texture on my nails. I've actually like that the glaze ones are thicker than the gloss ones! It could just be that it's a learning curve. Either way, I'm glad you've found something that you personally love! That's half the battle! 🤪

    Maybe its just me but keeping the same strips on for 14 weeks is not appealing to me. I feel like there would be so much yuck underneath those after that long. 14 days is a great amount of time for me hygenic wise. Thank you for sharing tips

    • @MelissaRoyce

      I get what you’re saying. I felt that way when I forget got started because my seal wasn’t tight enough around the edges. Now I don’t worry about it anymore because the seal is so tight alll the way around. If the tips start to separate I just trim them off.

      For calcium, I take a daily multivitamin with 400 mg in the morning and 630 mg calcium citrate tablet in the evening. My husband prefers the calcium chews, which have 650 mg calcium carbonate, for his evening supplement. He gets the same benefit to his nails from it. (His multivitamin doesn't have calcium in it,)

    As a nail tech I’m a little mortified that you’re just pulling these off. They do more damage than you realize, even if you don’t “see” the damage.

    • @ArleneBarshinger
      @ArleneBarshinger 3 місяці тому +8

      Hi, Melissa! I’d recommend using an oil, even cuticle oil would work. Lift off a corner, then put the oil there. Then once you get them off using the oil, prep as normal. The other way is to soak your hand in warm soapy water. Slowly lift so the soapy water can get underneath. Let me know how that works for you and thanks for sharing your tips! Also, try and get a cuticle pusher which will protect you from accidentally damaging cuticles. All the best!

      @MelissaRoyce I've been using mineral oil since I had a big bottle already. It seems to work well. I do it in the morning and wait till evening to do a new set, or remove at night and do a new set in the morning.
