    I wipe a small quantity of baby shampoo across my closed eyes when I shower, rub the eyelash area gently and then rinse with as hot a water as I can comfortably tolerate. Not so hot as to cause redness, just as hot as a,”Hot,” shower. No symptoms in the last ten years. My mom had similar problem and the above methods gave her total relief.

    My mom developed this or something close to it. I took care of her the last few years of her life and some mornings her eyes almost seemed glued shut. I started experiencing it as well, with hard crust fusing my eyelashes near the corner, and it's gotten worse since then, and now my brother has started experiencing the irritation and eyelash crust as well. Does that sound like the bacterial or seborrheic version or something else?
    Also, can environment figure in as well, like too dry air or excessive dust?

      We had a similar experience in our family, with symptoms increasing with aging. As I recall, we never had bacterial infections, but probably all the other issues you mentioned. The key factors in clearing this up were using baby shampoo to wash the eyelids, eyebrows and entire face (for me Aveeno brand works best), plus eyelid wipes with tea tree oil whenever there’s eyelid margin discomfort. This takes care of both mite overgrowth and seborrheic dermatitis flaking. For meibomian gland dysfunction and dry eyes, I also take a fish oil supplement. This not only increases moisture within the eye, it seems to thin the secretions so no gunk builds up. I also use a humidifier, especially during winter. With this regimen for maintenance, I usually don’t need to use the eye compresses, hypochlorous acid spray or other products. Hope your eyes are feeling better!

    I have a weird eye problem and I've been unable to find anyone with the same issues. I wonder if you have seen or heard of anyone with a simular condition.
    On average once a month, sometimes more sometimes less, I wake up suddenly in the night with excruciating pain in one of my eyes. It often feels like someone has just poked me in the eye while i've been asleep. After that depending on the severity I can't open my eye for several hours and have to try and keep it as still as possble due to having a foreign object feeling. This stops me using my other eye too so I basically go blind for most of the day until I can open it again. Often it can be light sensitive, ache and be blurry for 3- 5 days after. It also happens completely at random and can be in either eye.
    During the day my eyes are completely fine and this has only ever happened whilst asleep. It also just started completely out of the blue one day about 8 years ago. I've seen 3 eye specialists. The first actually saw me a couple of days after I had a bad case and told me I had Marginal Keratitis. The second two told me there was nothing wrong with my eyes but I did have some Blepharitis. From what I know Blepharitis is usually described as a mild irritation not something that causes severe pain. I've tried all the usual treatments for Blepharitis and now I also use eye drops a couple of times during the day and have to put eye gel in my eyes every night. This doesn't stop it but It does feel like it has reduced how often it happens.
    This obviously affects my life negativiely as I never know when I go to sleep at night if tomorrow is going to be the day I wake up in agony and unable to see. If you have any ideas what this could be or if it is some kind of extreme case of Blepharitis I would really appreciate any advice or info, also if anyone reading this comment has a similar problem I'd love to hear about it as I've not managed to find anyone online with my symptoms.

      @@DougHinVA Thanks for the tip but I'm not speculating. As I said I've already seen 3 eye specialists, one of which was supposedly one of the top eye specialiststs in the country. Of course I will go and see another at some point but I was just wondering if anyone else had ever experienced simular symptons from Blepharitis.

    • @cynthiaharrison4610
      @cynthiaharrison4610 6 місяців тому +4

      I thought about your symptoms and realized that I have experienced this to a much lesser degree. When I sleep on my stomach, my face is smashed into the pillow. It's like the eye and surrounding tissue are getting squished. And it does hurt! I also have double vision for a while. I'm convinced that being dehydrated has something to do with it, too.
      I hope it's something as simple as this. Might explain why the doctors can't diagnose it.

    • @sibience
      @sibience 6 місяців тому

      @@cynthiaharrison4610 Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately I've tried everything at this point. Plus it happens no matter how I sleep, often I wake up with it after being on my back.
      The only theory I've come up with which the eye specialist also said was possible is that I probably have a mixture of severe blepharitis and dry eyes. When I'm asleep my eyes dry out and my eyelid sticks to the surface of my eye, then when it moves or I try and open them it tears the surface layer over the eye and results in marginal keratitis, which is basically inflamation of the cornea.
      Not sure how bad your pain is but mine is often excruciating. I've had a lot of injuries in my life, broken bones, a crushed thumb, tooth abscess etc and this pain outdoes all of them.
      I think you should try eye drops if yours is bad and happens a lot. Since I've been using gel at night it has reduced the frequency of it happening a bit.

I not only had crusty, itchy eyelids and lashes, but also a thick gooey white discharge that I could pull right out of my eyes. Quite gross. I was told the other week I had blepharitis. I hasnt had a flare up in over a year. Do certain skincare products mske a difference? I found once I changed my skincare it took a year befote gettya flare up. I always get chalazions after a flare up amd get them surgically removed.
    I did warm compressed originally to try a d get rid of the chalazion this was before I knew I had blepharitis.
    I was told to go on antobiotics for a month, use eyedrops and use baby shampoo to do a lid scrub. My question is because I haven had a flare up in a year should I start up with heat masks again but now make it part of my routine maybe 3 days a week with the eyelid scubs and eye drops when needed before getting laser for it. The opthamologist told me yo get a treatment to remove the oil possible laser. However wouldnt it be better for me to try the other methods first before doing so?
    All I did was change my skincare and I didnt get a flate up for over a year. Isnt the IPL more so if you consistently flare up? Does it also prevent chalazions?

Pure tea tree oil is the gamechanger right into the eyelids 4-10 mins a night incl red on cheeks if rosacea is present afterward session wash face with your preferred facial cleanser. It is important to pay attention to the tea tree oil concentration when using it for blepharitis treatment. High doses of tea tree oil have been shown to damage epithelial cells in the laboratory. I’d recommend only using products containing safe concentrations of tea tree oil approved by your eye doctor.

      Can I use all Optase products while using Xdemvy?

      @@wanderingelklessyes. Except i would switch to an eyelid cleansing foam that does not have tea tree oil (which is supposed to control the demodex mites). The xdemvy will kill the mites in 6 weeks. Tea tree oil irritated my eyes. Also try to find a doctor that uses the new E-Eye ipl laser( see you tube videos.) it helps stimulate the meibomian glands and kills the mites and decreases red blood vessels). Insurance doesnt pay. 400.00 and u will need 4 sessions. Worth it. I am currently going through these treatments and much better. All started by demodex infestation.

      Ok are you ready for the truth??We all have mites in our eye lashes. 😊It's normal. Only becomes a problem when the ratio gets out of wack.

    There is no definitive solution. It keeps recurring and my eye is in a very bad condition. I went to all the doctors but it did not get better. Is there another solution?

    Great commercial. The take away: wash your face. Eyelids, too.

    Any experience prescribing Xdemvy? I tried it for the six weeks prescribed and it sort of worked but I expected better results.
