This day she was sick whith neumonia. Doctor not recomended her singing that day but she refuse it because of compromise whith the program schedule and all the people waiting for her in the show.. admirable in all angles this lady
There is a point of perspective for listening to Sohyang, she sings to uplift and comfort people who have been hurt by the pandemic , in a sense she has given over her angelic voice an heart fully to her lord Jesus to comfort people.nowhere more evident in her performance of "Everyone", for which i recommend you search for a version with English subtitles.
As mentioned in some comments, she was reviving from pnemonia and went to sing against doctor's suggestion with the belief that this was going to be her last singing performance, as she won't be able to sing again. After this she went back to the hospital to continue her therapy. Thank god and "Everyone's" prayers she was able to perform for us again after two years hiatus. Lovely reaction on this human gem.

A warm welcome to So Hyang's world. I am always so surprised when vocal coaches say they haven't heard of her when she is so good, but I guess it's because she doesn't promote herself -we all do across UA-cam. She has zero social media. You really need to listen to "Arirang Alone" from Immortal Songs 2 next. :) Good job on pronouncing her name too. By the way So Hyang is a cancer survivor and has frequent bouts of pneumonia, she had only just got out of hospital after a bout here so she isn't at her peak, but this is still my favourite performance.

@@jvoxfox - Fyi; the effects (reverb+delay) is over the top bc we are getting a feed from the desk as well as the auditorium in this video. The audience is only getting the FOH, the effects would not be as pronounced-if that makes sense.

I've never seen Sohyang before as I usually only watch songs from artists I'm familiar with, but WOW, this performance was LEGENDARY!!! She's such a phenomenal artist!

So Hyang said in a rare interview that she graced a UA-cam vocal coach from Turkey (Emre Yucelen) with that the most difficult song she ever performed is Everyone and her reason was sustaining her breath .. amoung her fans Everyone is her her very best song but Arirang Alone with her Bb5 mixed belt is her signature song .. in all honesty all her songs are amazing in their own right ...She also has diversity in genre's aside from CCM and Ballads even Rock (Mona Lisa) and HipHop/Rap (Day Day) from the original S. Korean show King of Masked Singer. Lastly she is also an Author of Fantasy Novels.

Lucky man Emre I watched the videos he was so smitten by her but then again so am I. She is almost to good in all aspects of her life to believe, she is a unique. Such is my opinion of Lara Fabian.

Hi, I watched many of your reaction youtube of sohyang. She is best singer not only because her technique is flawless but also her interpretation and absolute delivery of songs 100% even more to the audience.
Therefore, when I listen to her singing I feel like watching drama or movie.
One thing more, it shocked me when I knew that she suffered severe flu during her stage of 'You raise me up'.

So Hyang had cancer, pneumonia, and hepatitis. In this presentation she sang with pneumonia. So Hyang is 42 years old (43 in Korean age) and is considered the Mariah Carey of Korea. I hope you can make more reactions from it, you can continue with Arirang Alone. Love you reaction ❤️

Right! She was suffering from pneumonia at that time. She took painkillers and went on the stage and did not show up for the two years. Fortunately, she’s back in action now.

Julia, you are wonderful too. There is "Begin again Korea" free concert program that So Hyang participated to go around Korea to comfort people in this pandemic. There are nice songs you can hear her near raw voice. She sings with half of her capacity but still mesmerizing. " Please" is my favorite. Peace & health to you.

I think most Soyang should be standards-they are that good. Her voice is so so good along with her excellent dynamics and emotions. I always come back to Soyang when I want to hear some classics sung by a magnificent professional. A fan in USA

Sohyang is an absolute vocal powerhouse! One of the best singers ever in my opinion! And I love her arrangements and musicality on top of her vocal ability! I don't know if someone else commented this already, but I know you wondered exactly how high she can belt, and, so far, she has shown the ability to belt up to C#6 with no strain! Her belts up to G5 in this performance, while stunning, are quite easy for her! One of the best belters ever without a doubt. I'd highly recommend checking out her performances of "Arirang Alone" and "Bridge Over Troubled Water" next for even more insane vocals and complex, emotional arrangements!

The most amazing thing about that performance is she was very ill and was told not to sing or speak but carried on and did the show to not let anyone down she is an amazing person and artist hopefully you can do more reactions to her
I am very keen to watch more of Sohyangs singing! The illness thing, while dangerous, is incredible because you can't hear it at all!

@@Kalki70581 I truly believe the reverb adds the most beautiful quality to the opening. Even if she doesn't need it, utilising reverb isn't a crime and here it creates a stunning soundscape.

One additional note: She's definitely not perfect and has had some health issues. She never signed a recording contract so plays a lot of smaller venues and churches with mediocre sound engineering so you'll see a few clunkers in the fan cams, but those just make us love her more. You can never watch a So Hyang video and not feel happier for the experience (even when you are bawling your eyes out.) Looking forward to more reax!
I'm glad there's no counter on the number of times I've watched this video, the number would be pretty embarrassing. Sohyang + Julia always makes me smile.

Hi! I’m from Australia too and awesome to see an Aussie do a reaction vid. Thank you so much for it =] I just wanted to point out I’ve been a huge fan of hers for a while. Along with a lot of people who felt the need to comment as well. But I wanted to point out something to give her voice and reason for singing abit of context. She’s a very bubbly person who says herself that she talks too much, she sings for the purpose that it might help assuage people during their darkest times (probably why she sings even when she’s ill). Given how technically gifted she is, its no mistake why a lot of people who listen to her are almost always reduced to tears cause the sheer amount emotions she carries in her performance. We all know how much of a difference it makes when a singer really believes every word they are singing. Hope you do more reactions in the future!
