Currently watching your masterclass on the 5 chiffon robe hacks from way back. Love everything you make!

    This is why I own just about every Itch-to-Stitch pattern. Some styles are not my cup of tea. But, this is another Winner! Thank you for clearly explaining adjusting the Princess seam to fit me and not someone else with a “perkier” chest area.😊
    I fell in love with this pattern and since I buy wovens by the bolt to make test garments…I’m good.👍

    Purchase the pattern using the link you provided, I had the file printed the same day and did my muslin, I adjusted the bust line and the neckline and the top came out perfect. As usual your tips and sewing expertise made it easy for me to make the top in under 2 hours. Thanks Karina

    After watching several of your videos and finding them so helpful, I joined your Patreon. (I've never done that before!) I am in my seventies and learned to use a sewing machine at seven years old. However, I am still learning from you! Like you, I prefer to sew with woven fabrics, although I have sewn knits. And like you, I usually have the lower the bust dart, so it was very helpful to see how you do this on the Santorini top. I have stayed away from any kind of princess seams because I couldn't get them to fit. Now that I learned from you how to do that, I am going to buy and make the Santorini. Also, I have been doing a lot more hand basting since watching you. Thanks, Karina. I look forward to more of your videos.

    I’ve been waiting, hoping you were going to do this top after seeing your striped one in the tester photos. I liked it straight off, thinking of all those long strips of fabric leftover from other garments. I remembered to wait to use your affiliate link for once!
    Both of yours are lovely! The lowered neckline on the navy is a nice touch. The stripes are fabulous!
    …can i tell you, i still have a pair of white flares in my cupboard from the 80’s 😂. They’re even still white, much to my astonishment! I only wear them occasionally, and never out to eat 😝

    Do you think this could be made with a little bit heavier fabric to wear kind of like a vest?

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  Рік тому

      By vest to do mean it open on the front? Anything is possible if you know how to do that. Yes, heavier fabrics would work but if you want to layer over something, I might size up.

  • @kristinekapteyn8973
    @kristinekapteyn8973 Рік тому

    Can you tell me what adjustment will take care of extra fabric in the upper bust area, I do a petite adjustment but still get one bunching from the neck to upper bust area. Love this pattern, thank you!😊

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  Рік тому

      The extra fabric means you need to lower the curve of the bust apex. You also need to choose a size based on your sewing cup size. This is not the same as your bra cup size.

  • @Alison-y8v
    @Alison-y8v Рік тому

    I’m wondering if you’ve done this top as a dress? I previously had one with piping in between the seams that I found very slimming and was wondering if I could recreate it, it was a rtw item. Thanks Alison

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  Рік тому +1

      To make it a dress: it’s not as straight forward as other patterns because of the shape of the Center and the side. This is why I didn’t do it. If you keep it in the same angle and lengthen the pieces, the Center would become very wide and the sides would basically disappear.

  • @denisedorsey2889
    @denisedorsey2889 Рік тому

    I love your navy and white styling. Classic. Question for you: is there an option for the shorter version Kennis is wearing? Or is it just a shorten/lengthen line on the pattern? I prefer my tops to hit at the lower waist (high hip?) but noticed in the tester photos that they were all much longer.

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  Рік тому

      The top gets longer with the sizes. Because my size is larger than Kennis, I ended up with a longer looking too even though it’s the original length. There are shorten and lengthen lines… you can make it shorter.

    Great linen videos, wonderful precision, I'm learning so much, thank you. Question: it seems you use fusible interfacing on all the pieces... but does that not stiffen the fabric and make it harsh on skin...? I can't work out when you would you line a linen top (and use bias tape)?

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  Рік тому

      I interface the facings and plackets. That’s very needed to keep the shape and structured of necklines and armholes. Not doing this will result and floppy and deformed garments. I use a very light weight type that is not stiff at all. Facings or binding? It’s a personal preference. I think you are confusing facings with lining. It’s not the same thing.

    • @eileen8130
      @eileen8130 Рік тому

      @@LiftingPinsandNeedles Thanks for your swift response! So if I understood, 1) you did not interface the main linen pieces. (To me they look interfaced because laid out on your table (at 9:19) the reverse looks very pale). 2) Your general video on linen highly recommends lining linen tops yet here and also in your linen "peplum top" video, the outfits are unlined. I imagine it's because they have facings instead?...Sorry for my confusion. I'm watching your sleeveless lining and facing techniques video to see if it has the answers. I really enjoy your happy but rigorously clear style, you make me want to sew all day. I am sewing a beautiful linen corset dress for my daughter's 18th. Never sewn so much before in my life. You give me courage :)

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  Рік тому

      @@eileen8130 the linen is white in its base, that’s why it looks pale on the wrong side of the fabric. The colors are printed onto the right side of the fabric. The pieces are NOT interfaced, only the facings. About lining linen, that’s more for tailored pieces like blazers, sheath dresses and maybe dressy trousers.
      Remember with sewing it’s not all black or white. There’s a lot to interpret on a case by case basis. I would never line a simple top or light layer like a shirt or the peplum top.

    Karina, are the buttons purely decorative? Is there enough ease so you can put this shirt on without using the side buttons? I’m amazed - the shirt looks more fitted than that. I’m going to break my rule of not buying a pattern unless I’m planning to sew it in the next month (my stash is getting out of control) because I think this pattern is perfect.
