Once you put in that checkers floor where the chicks stay until they are "big enough" to fit through the hole, aren't they too close to the breeding hens upstairs? Would the breeding hens not stop breeding at some point because there's too many chicks nearby?
thats a great question and not one I have thought about because its never been an issue for me, so I cannot say for fact one way or the other, only that Ive had no complaints with the amount of chickens being bred.
@@HelgaBlue hmm ok. If you had no problems, could it be that only adult hens being in range of the breeding hens would keep them from breeding while eggs and chicks would not affect breeding? Interesting. I'll try once I have the time. My build is different, but the checkers floor thing should be adaptable. Thanks anyway!
Followed the build to a T, meat side eats pretty decent but the egg side (right two hens) won't seem to eat. Got the seeds in the perfect spot in the center and the hens are stacked on top of each other facing the food but just won't eat. The popped out 5 eggs and gave up lol. Any suggestions?
hmmm... try opening the gates at the right and left side of the chickens.... then give them a moment or 2 and close then again, this will help reset it i think.. let me know how you go
