    That's a unique little press. Kind 'a how I de prime on my LoadMaster. I have one die head with a lee universal Decapping die, set in station one. I load the case feeder up, and in 5 minutes or less I've de primed over 100 cases. Great video Sir, Thank You.

      yep same kind of thing... but with the APP press in this video I am resizing 223 brass faster then I can on my Loadmaster and more reliably too.
      Thanks

      The wrench serves it's purpose and can't help but think that Lee Precision made it the size it is because it doesn't need to be torqued and reefed down extremely tight.

    Quick press, Papa

      It does get the job done quickly. The lanolin/alcohol case lube helps.
      Thanks Don

    I still haven’t went down the APP hole yet but I know it works

      I waited a long time...but I am so glad I did. If you have a lot of brass or bullets that need to be processed this press simply van not be beat! At 2x the price it is still a bargain IMHO.

    I found the cascading effect is from lack of weight on the the last couple of cases and the motion and shaking of the action.

    How well does it do with 308? Im tired of using a single stage FL resizing. Can i use dillon dies?

    • @papasplace2
      @papasplace2  8 місяців тому +1

      223 and 300 blk are about as large as I would want to try to resize on the APP press. It just doesn't have the leverage required to do the job on large cases IMHO.
      Yes Dillon dies will work with the Lee lock rings.

      @papasplace2 thanks I'm gonna forgo the Lee APP and buy a Dillon XL750. Would the Lee quick bushings fit the Dillon tool heads?

    • @papasplace2
      @papasplace2  8 місяців тому +1

      @@timandrews4722 Nope. the Dillon tool heads use standard die threads.

    When you are full sizing crimped .223 cases with the lee Full Size Sizing die with the intention of swaging are putting the decapping pin from the swage kit?

    Did u have trouble setting it up and having the cases not feed properly. When keeps tipping a case through the shellholder everything's flush no lips anywhere to catch on

    • @papasplace2
      @papasplace2  3 роки тому +1

      The first time I set it up took awhile.. and the shell holder on mine is flush and nothing like the early versions that had a small lip. The next time I set it up was a lot quicker once I knew how things worked. Just follow the instructions to the letter and all will be fine.

    have you case gauged the brass coming out of it? I can't get my RCBS small based sizer to size the brass enough on this case (hits the express shellholder before going low enough). If they pass the gauge, what brand (lee?) sizer do you use for 223?

    • @papasplace2
      @papasplace2  2 роки тому +1

      I use the Lee Pacesetter die set. Every case drops in the case checker and slides right out. I have never had any problems with the sizing die and cases not chambering in any of my AR's.
      I have heard of some people that have very small(undersized) chambers in some guns. Never seen it but the internet is full of them. If I had a chamber that was that tight I would send it right back to the MFG and have them fix it. IMHO

      @@papasplace2 I see that Lee recommends (shockingly) using Lee sizing dies for the APP. I wonder if there is a little offset on the rcbs that doesn't size all the way to the bottom of the die. I'll try to pick up a lee 223 sizing die and go from there. I know there are some carbide dies that don't work in Dillons because of this (where the manufacturer installed the carbide sizing ring).

      @@MSUICEMAN @Papa’sPlace I had the same problem with 223 not sizing with ANY brand of die on the APP which was a bummer because I bought it to process 223 brass in BULK amounts and a big part of that I wanted was to re-size. I just got a newer X-shell holder for 223 and measured it’s height with a micrometer & compared it to the height of the shell holder that came with it. The new one I got is .005 shorter than the original that came with it. I dont know if it’s tolerance difference allowed in the production of the shell holders at Lee or if it’s a newer height to maybe address some grumblings they may have heard from people resizing brass on the APP.
      I just stick with the Lee die and lube the hell out of the brass with 99% alcohol & lanolin mix. I had to take the decap unit out to keep from having my shoulder from growing .002”.
      Really liking the APP so far.

    Have those been sized allready? I have tried the same method and I pull the shell right out of the shell holder trying to size them. You make it look easy i cant get it to work. I get 1 out of every 10 stuck and it's a real bitch getting them out of the die.

    • @seowitz
      @seowitz 3 роки тому

      Andrew, I agree. I've never had a case that has not been stuck while trying to size 223 brass. Yes, I know how to lube a rifle case properly. I tried Imperial sizing wax, Unique sizing lube, Dillon lanolin lube. Every case stuck in the dies (tried both my RCBS Small base 223 full length die as well as the Hornady full length 223 sizing die and 100% stuck cases.

    • @andrewlenhill

      @@seowitz I got mine to work the only lube that works is lanolin and alcohol. Thick. I spray a big ziplock bag about 10 times then through in 150 cases and spray 5 more on them. Twice as much as I usually did. They are seriously lubed up lol my hornandy gives it dents in the shoulder too much lube bit thevlee dies dont idk y bit it works havnt had a stuck case yet. Lots of home brew lube. I actually use Heat and lanolin mix the whole bottle of heat with the small tube of lanolin off amazon. I can get you exact details if youd like. But I jam through them now. Also I started using my lee loadmaster for prepping cases which works even better. I bought a separate tool head. First station universal decapping die. Second station empty. third station sizing die. Fourth station lee case trimmer with the drill attached. It works pretty good and it chamgers and debur the cases while trimming from 1.745 to 1.754 variation. I'm fine with that. Normal amount of lube with this method. Then all I have to do is either swage on the lee app which sucks in my opinion or i just chamfer the primer pocket. Fast and the primers go in alot smoother. I also like to use the primer pocket uniform tool to clean and help seat it a little deeper. My rounds come out great.
