Lucy is twenty years old and a class act, no scantily worn clothes, no over the top vocal gymnastics, just a great performer with a voice that well seasoned female singers would die for. What a roll model for young girls around the world.
The richness and depth of Lucy’s lower register is second to none. Everyone who listens to Unchained Melody is waiting for that high note but, for me despite Lucy hitting it perfectly, it’s the way she tackles the rest of the song that makes it so special. Her voice can keep you warm in the winter yet give you chills in the summer. Unique. ❤
I have several notes on this and Lucy: At the end of the verse where she reaches a little and adds power her breath control really cones to the fore. She powers the high note, puts the vibrato in after a bit, then goes right into the next phrase; all in one breath. The feel of the song is all Lucy. She can put feeling and emotion in her voice. I've described it as she throws her self into whatever she is singing and the feeling becomes abundant. Other reactors have said "some artists sing the song and some perform the song". Lucy definitely PERFORMS what she sings. Another thing I notice in this and many other of her renditions is even though this is a Bust shot we see some body language and particularly bringing her hands to her chest makes it deeply a first-person moment. She's putting herself right there with us. Her voice is pure silk.
Lucy is as near perfect a vocalist as one can get!,& yes she has the ability to take on almost every style of music,it's not just her voice it's the way she delivers the song also,I bless the day I found her several years ago singing her cover of Snow Patrols 'Run'.😊
Hi Maria So glad you got round to this .its one of my all time favourites and Lucy just crushes it .I have heard a lot of different people sing this but Lucy again has made it her own. This is a very difficult song to sing but she makes it look so easy. Every time she puts out a new song its better than the previous one .I thought her live performance was her best a now we have this. Can you imagine how much better she is going to get as her voice matures even more. One reactor said "I think lucy is the greatest vocalist that´s ever lived". FYI, the movie was called "Unchained". This song was nominated for an Oscar. Based on its popularity since, it probably should have won. It’s my favorite song. I really consider it the most beautiful song ever written.

Both Lucy Thomas and Angelina Jordan are bringing this song to a new level and they both do it in their own unique way: I love that. And to me what songwriter/composer Toby Gad said not long ago so nicely about Angelina is also true for Lucy: "She is a World star, just not known in the World yet. But that's going to change." Lucy and Angelina, that would be a couple to do a duet together...

No contest. Look up Bobby singing live on the "Andy Williams Show" way back in 1965. No autotune just a very small mic. Best live performance i ever saw.

That is very true, I think that for me it is acceptable to stop for those reasons, but I see reactors stop the video over and over again, to just, say wow, or love this, not giving any technical reason, but they can also take notes and wait for the end to make comments. I do mostly like getting comments to learn, and I have learned a lot form coaches.

If you listen, Bobby does have some pitch and tone issues with those extremely high octave ranges. Don't get me wrong, his live performance is the best, no doubt! Lucy's vocals are just so heavy, so rich, so layered that her vibrato literally controls notes, just trained now as a natural vibrato because of her professional and classical training! Lucy has so much inherent power that her vibrato just engages those notes and words with such intense, but beautiful, serene, tranquil bliss; she hold a note just long enough to generate that perfect tone and then her vibrato kicks in and carries it out oh so elegantly! No comparison; Lucy is just so technical and precise with everything, including her ability to literally step right into her performance so we feel what she feels........Lucy by a country mile!
