Thanks for the break down of costs and advice of what you would recommend. I’ve done mine through s company who organise everything for me, it sounds lazy but I’ve only done it because I work shifts so I’m doing my training around that whilst having a work/life/family/study balance. I know I have paid slightly more for the service but my class 2 has cost me £1500 and class 1 is about £1200. For people who are going to do the hazard perception they are in CGI and bloody awful to watch. Thanks again pal👍🏻
My class 2 cost me about £1000 and my class 1 cost me about £1000. The order of your tests and cpc is somthing to very much consider applying for the provisional entitlement first when you apply for that tick all the boxes same with the medical then if you ever want to drive a bus you don’t need a new medical or have to send of for the provisional entitlement adding and their is no added fee to do this.

You are lucky you get the job straight away after you finished your HGV training, my self I had to wait 2 years looking reight and left for job and finally I found one as agency I have done class 2 job for the agency those two jobs I founded they were very very hard Loading more harder then driving
I'm surprised at the cost. I looked into this via agencies who contacted me and also enquired at Stobart's and was quoted minimum £3000 and upto £5500 !!
My CE-license plus everything you need to drive commercially cost me around £3250 in Sweden, that is around 17hours of driving on 13 lesson. This is considered cheap over here, but we also drive rigid+dolly+trailer that are up to 25.25m so its more to learn when reversing than what you drive in the uk.
@@Deady2012 If you ever get the chance to drive one, take it, they feel awesome on the road and the wagon follow incredibly well through corners. Drove a asphalt truck and wagon at around 20ish meters long, long as drawbar on the trailer so could basically turn as I was just driving the truck cause the wagon followed the trucks track so well. Its an experinece being that long and still have it drive so well!
I've payed £2700 that's for everything apart from cpc which they want another 300 or 400 for they do four days in ridged and 4 days with trailer think I rushed into it im waiting for provisional to come back now
I got quoted £3400. It includes - medical test - Theory test / Hazard perception - Learning Information (£525) - CPC - certificate of professional competencies - LGV - 16 hours plus another take on my test if I fail (£1437) - HGV - 20 Hours plus test (£1437) Duration 6 -8 weeks then 3-4 week to do HGV.
That is dirt cheap! I done my theory test, hazard perception and Module 2 before anything. Then I went to the HGV driving school & paid £1700 for the course & Module 4, then £150 for second test.
Can someone explain to me what is cpc 35hours? I just passed my theory, hazard, cpc module 2&4. Passed my class 2 driving test. I’ve got my digi card What do I do now?? All I see on job description is that I need a cpc driver card?? and I see drivers having 3 card while I only have 2, driving license and digi card. Am I ok to start applying for jobs and start working or do I need to do the 35hours to get my cpc card??
One thing he does not tell you is ask for bus and lorry entitlement . If you decide you want bus as well it's already there . Get a good nights sleep every day while you are doing the training or you will not pick it up quick . All these things you lot have to do now we did not have them 27 years ago . Listen to your instructor they have been driving years . remember you only get good with these vehicles with experience . bottom line is they are not hard to drive as long as you are careful.

I was under the impression you had to send a copy of your medical report when applying for licence. I'll probably be asking questions all way through my training. Hi mate can you please break down a list of how I should go about to getting a hgv licence (not articulated) I’m still not sure how to start step by step. TIA
Jesus I didn't realise it cost so much. I got lucky, back in 1995 I was in the Royal Marines and wanted time off to play football. My boss said yes as long as i do a HGV course. Ten days later and back from Leconfield and I have Class 1. No wonder there is a shortage of drivers nowadays. Once you have that licence you wont go short of work
Deady 2012 there are decent jobs out there. Once you are comfortable do your class 1. Easier than class two if you get the right job. I do supermarkets and enjoy it. They don’t move, you know where you are going and it doesn’t change.
Jimmy Lyons I like the variety though i have to admit. But the size of Artics scares me to death haha! Becauee i’m stupid even though i have a sat nav i still get lost haha! Going up a dead end in an artic is a nightmare haha!
Could you not have used any of your learning credits for your cpc? A bit late now though I guess ! Maybe worth looking into it if you’re going to do ADR at any point
As a Class 1 Driver and ADR driver I will give you some advice wait a few years before you get your adr you need the experience. By all means go for it but you will have an easier time with 2-3 years of class 1/2 under your belt.
Deady 2012 how long did you serve? Learning credits depend on years service and it’s essentially money towards a qualification that you can claim. Only just saw you replied to me!
Thanks for all the good information lad! One question: how can i go and apply at red rose for that discount you were talking in fisrt minutes of the video?
When I took my class 2 a couple months back the examiner took my licence to send off to DVLA themselves. He said I could drive the trucks as long as I kept the pass certificates on me. Strange you were told otherwise.
Derek Delboy Trotter It was the module 4, i was told i couldn’t drive without an actual DQC card. Well, i was told not to risk it. The lady at Red Rose said, i’d avise you don’t drive with just a certificate because it states you need to be in receipt of a DQC Card orelse you could be fined if you get an angry vosa officer lol.
@@maciej9280 okay, well I was lucky as the company i work for paid for me to do my test so I was able to drive with the certificates as proof I'd passed everything.
@@Deady2012 Wanted to do pursue hgv for a long time but kept putting it off, watching your videos has pushed me to continue to do so 🙏 trying to get prices for the class 2 training and cpc module 4, most companies offering ridiculous prices (cheapest £1350+ including practical test fee) I live in the West Midlands, if anyone can recommend me a place? Many thanks
Would you recommend doing your class 1 straight after your class2? Or wait a while between them both. Very informative video btw definitely helpful for someone who wants to train as a hgv driver
I couldn’t say mate. I did 6 month Class 2. Loved every minute of it! But Class 1 is honestly a completely different job. More distance, bigger truck, harder to drive, more tiring. I couldn’t advise on that, it’s completely upto you.
Getting made redundant in November and i am avout to start applying with careers wales for funding to do it i think its up to £1500 so been looking up vids on here and you popped up cheers for the advice and i think i will send my licence of next week as you said to save some time cheers mate would never had thought about that
It depends what job you take mate. At the moment i'm working normal person shifts lol. 8 hour days. I was up at 3:30am this morning though for a 5am start. Back at home now on laptop & it's only 1:20pm lol.
I love it mate, bit gutted that my shift got cancelled today, but it happens. I'm not as negative towards agencies as everyone else seems to be. I don't know how long i'll be doing class 2 for. I love it at the moment, so no reason to change to be honest.
Surely it's not about changing it's more about making more interesting content and also giving yourself more chance of more work if have class 1 . I struggled to get decent work with decent pay on road worthy vehicles ended up doing my class 1 now all good .
John Paton I dont see how class 1 would be more interesting content. Apart from reversing it’s more about sitting and doing miles. At least with Class 2 i’m always in n out of the cab. But i do enjoy it, so i don’t mind at the moment. Like the saying goes: if it aynt broke don’t fix it.
@@Deady2012 thats what everyone thinks artic drivers just drive on motor ways all day in there boxers as never leave cab lol sorry didn't mean like it current stuff isn't interesting obvious is or I wouldn't watch it . Just mean like be driving different trucks and different types company I'm with has low loaders tipper bulkers mixers and bulk mixers and flat beds. And yes some time you do miles but also sometimes the tm listens to the builder and sends a artic mixer to a single house build normally in a large garden of another house :)
You can do the CPC at any time - its not stage 3. I've done all 35hrs of mine and I've never even been inside a truck yet. Never driven one. Dont know how.
How did you find the CPC module 2? Everything going smoothly for me but going from knowing nothing about hgv and then studying for the module 2 is rough going
If you can pass the Theory, then you'll pass the Mod 2. The mod 2 was easy for me. Theres plenty CPC training on my channel mate. I've got a couple of mock tests on there and the review of the test day. Good luck mate!
I done a bit with an African chap and I swear if he passed a class1test then there needs to be questions asked of his trainer and examiner, reason for this post he must have bought his licence on the so called internet grey market however much that cost will get you a class1
Mine in total cost around £2,750.00 for both class 2 and class 1, passed 1st time on all tests. I had my medical done back in 2006 and applied for a HGV provisional back then which lasted for about 12 years so didn't have to take another medical which I think was around £100. A HGV licence, in my opinion, is one of the best investments you can make as a driver. I was a van driver for 15 years and would never ever go back into a van, money is poor and hours are long and not paid. As an HGV driver you have a lot more responsibility but are paid a reasonable wage and paid for all the hours you work to justify it.
Jimmy De'Souza hi jimmy Yes you can do both - ADR applies to rigid & Artic (semi trailer) I drive a rigid LPG tanker . Don’t worry about dangerous cargo , it’s a controlled environment you just need to sensible 👍
Sumo Shack I was fortunate to get the first one I applied for, and that gave me the experience I needed to join a bigger business with improved terms & conditions.
Research the reviews and pass rates of training providers and stay well clear of agencies that will find the cheapest providers that are not always the best.. Avoid national 0800 number training agencies at all costs..

Jimmy Lyons I like the variety though i have to admit. But the size of Artics scares me to death haha! Becauee i’m stupid even though i have a sat nav i still get lost haha! Going up a dead end in an artic is a nightmare haha!
Join the the transport regiment t.a for a couple of years and you get every licence for free plus you get paid as well plus you meet new m8s
If you pass class 1 training can you drive class 2 vehicles? Cheers mate
You have to do class 2 first so you’ll already have that license by time you get class 1.
Big help keep it up 👍🏻
Could you not have used any of your learning credits for your cpc? A bit late now though I guess ! Maybe worth looking into it if you’re going to do ADR at any point
What are learning credits mate?
As a Class 1 Driver and ADR driver I will give you some advice wait a few years before you get your adr you need the experience. By all means go for it but you will have an easier time with 2-3 years of class 1/2 under your belt.
@@philipsmith4849 Yeah i will wait mate. I'm not gonna jump into anything with both feet.
Deady 2012 how long did you serve? Learning credits depend on years service and it’s essentially money towards a qualification that you can claim. Only just saw you replied to me!
How long will all that take like a year
Thanks for all the good information lad! One question: how can i go and apply at red rose for that discount you were talking in fisrt minutes of the video?
They are not doing it any more mate. But if you tell them Deady recommended it for you, they may give you something.
@@Deady2012 Cheers mate!
@@Deady2012 I see what you mean, I still drove without my card lol but the company said it was okay so I was none the wiser.
yes in theory you can drive as soon as you pass, but, no one will take you on without them 3 pieces of plastic in your hand, that's the reality
@@maciej9280 okay, well I was lucky as the company i work for paid for me to do my test so I was able to drive with the certificates as proof I'd passed everything.
@@derekdelboytrotter8881 lucky you then ;)
Thanks for you time, just a quick quastion is it wise to go through package companies offering 1900 for class 2 and 399 for pass protection
Wouldn't bother mate. Bullshit that.
What is the way to go about it, so do it my self,
Hi mate
Just quick question how many card should you receive when you pass class 2
Thsnks
3 all together. Tacho card DQC Card Drivers licence.
Thanks 👍
Thanks dude 👍
Did you have to pay for the test fee for the practical or was that all included in the £1269.50??
All included
@@Deady2012 Wanted to do pursue hgv for a long time but kept putting it off, watching your videos has pushed me to continue to do so 🙏 trying to get prices for the class 2 training and cpc module 4, most companies offering ridiculous prices (cheapest £1350+ including practical test fee) I live in the West Midlands, if anyone can recommend me a place? Many thanks
Hi m8
So you got your HGV license 👍
Is that the big dog like 18 wheeler or is that the ridged ????
Thanks Mate
It's just the rigid for now pal. I'll do my Class 1 soon i'm sure.
what a doctor check in medical test if someone fail in medical then whats happen
They check your eyes. Your heart. Drugs Alcohol. Thats about it. If you fail, you can't drive a HGV. simple.
you need a medical before you can get a LGV provisional, your D2 and D4 together before you get the entitlement
True thing.
Deady 2012 thanks for the reply anyway :)
Deady 2012 sorry to be a pain lol. Would you realistically think it would be possible to get a job hgv driving at 18 in the first place?
TFMS 1 yea mate! Deffo!!
Deady 2012 omg mate im so glad you said that lol ive been so stressed that I wouldn’t find anything 😂
Getting made redundant in November and i am avout to start applying with careers wales for funding to do it i think its up to £1500 so been looking up vids on here and you popped up cheers for the advice and i think i will send my licence of next week as you said to save some time cheers mate would never had thought about that
Bad time to be made redundant! Wish you the best mate!
Good Luck!
Can I transfer a cdl to hgv?
I was quoted 1700 in london for class 2
What is your work life balance like with the job and having kids as I currently work in retail and looking to go into hgv??
It depends what job you take mate. At the moment i'm working normal person shifts lol. 8 hour days. I was up at 3:30am this morning though for a 5am start. Back at home now on laptop & it's only 1:20pm lol.
Good on ya pal loving the freedom keep up the good videos
Hey, how long do you plan on doing class 2 before doing class 1? Are you still enjoying agency work? Cheers!
Thanks mate.. Just passed my medical so long road ahead for me 🤣👍
If you fail your theory do get a chance again to take it straight away and what will it cost
Cost you
Tanks big man😊😊😊👍
You can do the CPC at any time - its not stage 3. I've done all 35hrs of mine and I've never even been inside a truck yet. Never driven one. Dont know how.
i was quoted £1200 to £1500....???
THANKS MAN
How did you find the CPC module 2? Everything going smoothly for me but going from knowing nothing about hgv and then studying for the module 2 is rough going
If you can pass the Theory, then you'll pass the Mod 2. The mod 2 was easy for me. Theres plenty CPC training on my channel mate. I've got a couple of mock tests on there and the review of the test day.
Good luck mate!
What is class 1 and class 2 please
Class 2 is a Rigid. Like what i drive. Class 1 is Articulated. A truck & a large trailer.
I done a bit with an African chap and I swear if he passed a class1test then there needs to be questions asked of his trainer and examiner, reason for this post he must have bought his licence on the so called internet grey market however much that cost will get you a class1
Great Advice
so basically have about 2-3 grand ready before you even think about it. thanks for the info m8
I chose ADR instead of class 1 .
Best decision I ever made
I fancy ADR. Think i'll be going down that route.
Deady 2012 first time you do it , do the entire package.
Then you can decide what route you go with it , I do LPG
Jimmy De'Souza hi jimmy
Yes you can do both - ADR applies to rigid & Artic (semi trailer)
I drive a rigid LPG tanker .
Don’t worry about dangerous cargo , it’s a controlled environment you just need to sensible 👍
Sumo Shack I was fortunate to get the first one I applied for, and that gave me the experience I needed to join a bigger business with improved terms & conditions.
thanks BROO.
You need to have a medical to get your provisional. Think u got it mixed up in video pal lol
I got my provisional about 4 weeks before i started anything. Why would you need a medical to get a 'Provisional' licence?
@@Deady2012 most poeple I know required a medical to get a provisional licence the same as I did . It must have changed now
I’ve been waiting for my module 4 since march (its now July).....
Bloody covid!!!!
Also trained through redrose, and even spotted you coming out of the yard on your class 1 test day!
Haha! No way! 😂. Small world aynt it mate 😂
Haha it is, got a call off them yesterday, module 4 booked in Tuesday then job hunting! Exciting times!
Research the reviews and pass rates of training providers and stay well clear of agencies that will find the cheapest providers that are not always the best..
Avoid national 0800 number training agencies at all costs..
Failed on my first attempt
Don't give up mate! Keep at it! Good Luck!
Have you passed now?
I've only just seen your test pass video tonight the first video of yours I've seen
Ironically I bought a
hgv training
Website address last night lol
As I buy website addresses for fun lol
And i thought my hobby of planespotting was random haha!
@@Deady2012
Nothing wrong with plane spotting
You can do it for free on the m25 most days at about 5pm lol when everyone wants to use the same bit of road at the same time lol
In the medical do they go through your passed history or is it just checking how fit you are now to do the test I need my 7.5 tonne license
They go through abit of your past. Medical conditions etc. Mostly what you are like now though.
Deady 2012 I've been free and clear of everything for 5 years will I still have a problem
@@johnschweiger1079 Not sure pal. That's down to the DVLA. Depends what the issue was.
Depression and anxiety
John Smith I suffer with same thing mate. Don’t worry about it. Aslong as any meds don’t make you drowsy you’re golden.
