It’s funny that the darker the Lord, the lighter it gets. Dark Lord is decently dark with blue skin and a purple robe. Darker Lord wears a white robe, and sports lighter skin. Darkest Lord is literally the brightest thing in the Solar System.
Making the Sage Miitopia's final (story) boss is a brilliant trick. Players are almost guaranteed to make the Dark Lord someone they dislike -- a bad teacher, a prick boss, a politician, a school bully -- and make the Sage someone they respect and admire -- a coach, pastor/local religious leader, or family member. Beating the hell out of someone you dislike is fun, but for the final fight, you're not kicking ass and taking names anymore, you're trying to save your personal hero, making _you_ feel like an even bigger hero. It's a brilliant tactic to make players feel important and also make the stakes of this battle both high and personal.
YES YOU SUMMED IT UP PERFECTLY Although, my main problem is that you recruit a partner by this point, and that could be the one they look up to if they didnt know the sage existed. And then Miitopia on Switch kinda ruined it because you can pick auto assigned characters, which is nice, i like not having to make more than 10 miis, but a lot of people will just go with that.

The relationship mechanic can really make this game anime as hell. On the attempt that I beat this boss, two of my friends were incapacitated, and my friend and I were on our last legs. I only had enough HP sprinkles for one of us to survive, so after a bit of debate, I decided my friend would be able to last longer, so I gave them to him. On the boss’s next attack, he killed me, and did severe damage to my friend. I was sure that my friend would die, and I would have to start the entire fight over, but then, a relationship skill activated. I told him to not give up, restoring my friend to full HP, allowing him to deal the finishing blow on the Darkest Lord.

For me it was a stubborn self-insert and 9 OCs/dnd characters, including, cautious sad boi and his kind soul mate(literally), energetic big fluffy moth gf, cool demon with a love of theater and arson, cursed incarnation of death who's actually a pretty kind, impulsive, but laid-back scientist with pink hair, energetic dark elf with a love of song and the moon, cool bug-like creature from the void, and a wholesome danger noodle, taking on Hyness possessed by Dark Matter. I ended up making a lot of important NPCs Kirby characters lol. Oh yeah, and don't forget their loyal steed, Spectrier. I won by getting Horse-whispering Chef twice in a row.

The relationship buffs are just.. Wow. I've been playing on the switch demo version for ages, and my friends are all on at least relationship level fifty. I got the full version recently for my birthday. I got to the darkest lord, everyone that was in my old party was relationship level 99 On the last phase, nobody would die. It was all "Get well soon, Tia!" "Don't give up now, Anthony!" But don't get me started on avenging people. I died, But my strongest ally got up, started cranking 90's, Doing mounted attack one too many times, And then he died. But that wasn't it. I got up out of anger, Sprinkled my mp back to max, and dear god, You won't know how happy I was when the horse came in my next turn. I clicked horseplay, and boom bada frickin' bing, darker lord was dead.
This part of the game gives me the feels. (SPOILERS) I personally made my Great Sage an OC, not a meme or anything, and it actually hurt when the Dark Curse took hold of her. Since the Great Sage wasn't a meme I felt the connection that she and the MC were supposed to have, like a mentor and a student, like real friends. I actually felt their bond and the Great Sage was a character I respected so the whole 2nd half of the game legitimately destroyed my emotions. Seeing the powerful, intelligent Great Sage as this power-hungry, psychotic being was ACTUALLY a big twist. This game has such amazing writing it's insane that this is a mii game.
i made my great sage my BOYFRIEND and let me tell you the “oh no i have to save him” was very powerful. i only played the switch port and somehow never got the ending spoiled for me so i had no idea lmao.
Never in my life, would I think I would be fighting Great Sage Vinesauce. Boy, this final boss really threw me for a loop when I played it. I never thought I would be fighting the Great Sage of all people. I felt pretty intimidated going into this fight (probably because I was completely unprepared.) But somehow, Matt, Squigly, Inosuke, Two-faced, Garcello, Chef Skinner, Franklin (from GTA V), Boyfriend, Girlfriend, and Ralsei somehow stuck through and won. I can't lie, this game is absolutely amazing and so is the music. Absolutely incredible. Being that this is one of the only RPG games I like, I'm glad it's this one. The comedy is sometimes hilarious, but it can also be serious as well. 10/10 One of the best games I've ever played. haven't reached Tower of Dread yet wish me luck lol
Beating the darkest lord for the 1st time in the switch port after knowing that this theme existed for years felt great Though its still pretty funny how none of the dark/darkest lords fights killed me and yet a painting boss fight in the desert world killed me 3 times, Curse you Callie
This game has gracefully allowed me to say how the finale of my second playthrough went. TL;DR: MiiverseAdmin gave Flowey the motivation to survive getting blasted in the face by coins, allowing Nintendo to stab the Miiverse in the back and kill it. Full ver: Flowey, enraged at the fact that Darkest Lord Miiverse just killed Fawful with a black hole, angrily throws his leaves at Miiverse, which wasn't enough to kill it. Nintendo disappeared to prepare an attack, so Flowey was alone, getting coins launched at him, trying to occupy Miiverse until Nintendo came back. With incapacitated MiiverseAdmin telling him not to lose, he was motivated enough to be able to survive the coin blasts for long enough to have Nintendo come, stab Miiverse in the back, and destroy it.

What's this? The warrior, the scientist and the flower are lifting their heads once more!
"Don't give up!" the heroes cry, "You got this!"
And that he did not. With the help of his party members, his friends, he keeps holding on.
And many spells were casted between the two. Forces of pure good and evil clashing.
Yet, the hero persists and eventually knocks out the pure evil powerhouse.
The sage, along with Miitopia was freed, and the Dark Curse broken.
Where is the hero now? Well, hes me!!!

The whole theme is epic but man 2:03 to me is when that theme really strikes hard
The relationship buffs are just.. Wow. I've been playing on the switch demo version for ages, and my friends are all on at least relationship level fifty. I got the full version recently for my birthday. I got to the darkest lord, everyone that was in my old party was relationship level 99 On the last phase, nobody would die. It was all "Get well soon, Tia!" "Don't give up now, Anthony!" But don't get me started on avenging people. I died, But my strongest ally got up, started cranking 90's, Doing mounted attack one too many times, And then he died. But that wasn't it. I got up out of anger, Sprinkled my mp back to max, and dear god, You won't know how happy I was when the horse came in my next turn. I clicked horseplay, and boom bada frickin' bing, darker lord was dead.
This part of the game gives me the feels.
(SPOILERS)
I personally made my Great Sage an OC, not a meme or anything, and it actually hurt when the Dark Curse took hold of her. Since the Great Sage wasn't a meme I felt the connection that she and the MC were supposed to have, like a mentor and a student, like real friends. I actually felt their bond and the Great Sage was a character I respected so the whole 2nd half of the game legitimately destroyed my emotions. Seeing the powerful, intelligent Great Sage as this power-hungry, psychotic being was ACTUALLY a big twist.
This game has such amazing writing it's insane that this is a mii game.
Nintendo wanted to make a new rpg and someone was like "Remember that Mii game ?"
Miitopia was born.

Never in my life, would I think I would be fighting Great Sage Vinesauce.
Boy, this final boss really threw me for a loop when I played it. I never thought I would be fighting the Great Sage of all people. I felt pretty intimidated going into this fight (probably because I was completely unprepared.) But somehow, Matt, Squigly, Inosuke, Two-faced, Garcello, Chef Skinner, Franklin (from GTA V), Boyfriend, Girlfriend, and Ralsei somehow stuck through and won. I can't lie, this game is absolutely amazing and so is the music. Absolutely incredible. Being that this is one of the only RPG games I like, I'm glad it's this one. The comedy is sometimes hilarious, but it can also be serious as well.
10/10 One of the best games I've ever played.

This game has gracefully allowed me to say how the finale of my second playthrough went.
TL;DR:
MiiverseAdmin gave Flowey the motivation to survive getting blasted in the face by coins, allowing Nintendo to stab the Miiverse in the back and kill it.
Full ver:
Flowey, enraged at the fact that Darkest Lord Miiverse just killed Fawful with a black hole, angrily throws his leaves at Miiverse, which wasn't enough to kill it. Nintendo disappeared to prepare an attack, so Flowey was alone, getting coins launched at him, trying to occupy Miiverse until Nintendo came back. With incapacitated MiiverseAdmin telling him not to lose, he was motivated enough to be able to survive the coin blasts for long enough to have Nintendo come, stab Miiverse in the back, and destroy it.
Since my brother was the darkest lord this is the theme song for the most dramatic sibling fight ever
