Is it productive, for the post-election period, for the EFF to be turned into a boogeyman by the MPC (particularly the DA)? This could be critical to how coalitions negotiations play themselves out and whether the outcome is best for South Africa. Useful, critical insights Lukhona (as always!) 😊🎉

I totally agree with you on ActionSA. What a great loss. ASA could have benefitted from the disgruntlement from former DA voters, anchoring your election prospects on the same DA is one of the most stupid political moves ever.

Sometimes this channel provides interesting and insightful discussions. However it is clear that it harbours very little sympathy to the DA and parties with its social and or economic stance. Deep down one can see quite a bit of condescension for the second largest political party and very rarely if ever are any of the DA's very real arguments taken seriously on this channel. A far cry from the messaging of other parties like Rise or EFF. A pity for this kind of platform aiming to lead SA in political introspection.

Competition is healthy we dont need a big group of homogeneous parties. It won't Take SA forward.
Each party has their own policies, represent their own constituencies. They have a common theme of understanding should nobody obtain a majority they will have to work together to form a government within 14 days.
So the MPC makes alot of sense since our constitution doesn't allow adequate time for the formation of an effective government. By having a pre election agreement allows these parties to know where they stand and hit the ground running.
Otherwise we end up these ANC-EFF-PA cobbled together coalitions where there is no direction headed by puppet mayors.
Perhaps you have a better solution if you can criticise the MPC efforts to formalise a pre election aggreement.
Lastly the EFF's best match is MK but EFF is an opprotunist party willingbto work with anyone to have power. They love a king maker role no different to PA.

I disagree with the one sidedness of the analysis. I politics there will never be a 100% right or wrong decision, each moves has pros and cons. The analysis here only talks about the possible draw backs to the mpc, and pretends that there are no positives. One positive of not forming one large party as what is being proposed here is that the electorate still feel that they get to vote for a party that share their ideals even if that party operates within a collective. The collective moves toward and shares an overarching goal, but my political formation in that collective argues for our manifesto positions.
This analysis is only negative and seeks to discourage those that would like to vote for the mpc and acting like the alternative which is to negotiate after elections is the better alternative, which we have seen play out in the guateng metros. If parties negotiate after elections there is no certianity around how the goverent will be structured and it becomes a frantic negotion to constitute some sort of government, whereby smaller parties which have significantly less of a mandate by voters end up making massive political deciosn through their king making agenda.
All I'm saying in a nut shell is that there are pros and cons and all I hear is cons, thus an slanted and biased analysis of the mpc to dissuade voters.

A view different to yours is not necessarily wrong.
Try to be a bit more open minded even if you disagree.
