Fabulous FlossTube video! I am in love with your Nessie sampler and will heading over to your Etsy shop pronto! I am envious of your lovely Sulky collection. Thank you for all the inspiration! Stay well and stitch! 🧵 🧵🧵
@@mommalovesyougb that would be marvellous I would love to chat to you. My son and I are going back again to India soon to do some more research , its such a divine place xx more colourful than Cornwall !!
Great video can’t wait for your new sampler to be out. Enjoyed seeing your wips. Love your new patterns. Have a wonderful weekend and happy stitching 😊🧵🪡🤗🤩
I have an IKEA less than 3 miles from my house. Guess where I’m going first thing tomorrow morning??? I NEED that tree! The Mill Hill ornaments will be perfect.
Good morning Michelle, Thanks for letting me know about the magazine being delayed. I had not heard and was wondering where it might be. So many pretties that you showed today. Thank you.
The colours on Mary Small are looking great. East Wemyss is not far from me, although I’ve never ventured out that way. I now have an ikea order on the way... thanks?? 🤔😩
Hello Michelle, thanks for the awesome morning briefing…love the vin metal tree…will check out IKEA/USA…beautiful sampler Mary A.G. Small…looking forward to renewing my PNPS magazine too…I feel like I am in touch with the world during these morning briefing…looking forward to seeing you next week…enjoy all your podcast…wishing you joy and happy stitching🧵✂️🪡🔆❤️
I enjoyed your video! Wow, I bought the IKEA VINTER 021 tree too :), I'll decorate it with ornaments...I think I can hang 34 on it. I don't have 34 ornaments yet, unfortunately. If someone wants to send me, feel free to do so :) :) :)
Thank you for your video. Enjoyed my visit with you, seeing your WIPS and haul. I predict IKEA will have run on those trees!! Take care and happy stitching!
Your new sampler is so sweet. Took a screen shot so I can show my granddaughters. Ages 10, 9, 7, 6 and 5. They have shown some interest in x st. My son stitches and his 9 yo has started a small piece but it seems to have stalled. Will be interested in their comments. I managed to complete Part 1 of the Barbara Ana SAL. Was looking out for it this year. So much fun. Love your IKEA tree. Have a great week.
I have been binge watching your videos for a few months now and am finally all caught up. I love the Ikea tree. I love hearing you talk about the Cotswolds. We have family friends that live there. Thanks for sharing all the freebie's
I have a tree like that. I put it away after Christmas but may keep out after Christmas this year. Lovely stitching pieces and samplers. Blessings and happy stitching.
Love your storage for your Sulky floss. A lot better than some storage that is out there. Enjoyed your FlossTube as usual. It has become part of my Sundays.
Yes as the others have said I have done a lot with a sewing machine that does embroidery with the 40 weight rayon. It has drawbacks as it does not tolerate chlorine and it drys out and becomes brittle. I like the polyester but it does melt with high temperature ironing. I actually did know that Sulky made cotton threads and have some. I actually used them for hand embroidery on crazy quilts and to crochet with a small crochet hook some pansys. So now I will use some to do cross stitch. I have all my DMC and My Mother's DMC so do not need many threads.
40 weight thread is generally used for machine embroidery. The rayon has more of a sheen and may fade quicker the polyester is not as shiny but will not fade as quick.
I was not prepared this morning for a video less than 30 minutes...not sure how I'm going to fill my time the rest of the day lolol. I have a question! And if you have answered this in a previous video or have shown previous finished of one, I apologize now as I either didn't see those videos or it's because my memory is absolute crap. But what are your thoughts on Mirabilias? Have you ever stitched one or tried to? Or is that just not in your wheelhouse?
Hmmm…I have mixed feelings. I have Snow Queen and the Santa face one and I quite like some of the witchy looking ones….but my dilemma is I don’t know what I’d do with them once they were done. I’d love to stitch one for the challenge but they’re not my decorating taste. If mum saw one she loved I’d do it for her…… how’s life with you today??
Enjoyed seeing you again today. The tree is great. I have been a Mill Hill addict for 30 years (I’m dating myself..HA!) so I have quite a collection! I have had various trees since I started stitching them. I graduated to a full size 6 ft tree about 10 years ago but that is getting really full. Every year I say that I am finished and then they come out with their new Christmas set and I can’t resist. Have a good stitch week!
Hi Michelle - I purchased your chart but am doing a major modification to the bottom half of your Nessie chart. I hope you don’t mind. I am going to stitch it up as a memorial piece for both my Dad and one of my Uncles. I am replacing the bottom band of flowers with a band of leaves and replacing the crowns with weeping willows.
The sulky thread that you showed in polyester and Rayon is for machine embroidery. They won’t do well with ironing because you will melt the threads. We have similar tastes on what we like to stitch. Thank you for the inspiration! 🥰
You naughty woman just had to order the IKEA tree even though I am going to my sons in New York for Christmas but intend to fill it next year with the adorable crocetteagogo new advent chart and do each day as a little pillow
Ahhh I see! It’s possible it could have been stitched for her but samplers were generally done by girls themselves. The actual sampler is done on wool in a pretty low count so I have no reason to think it wasn’t her 😄
Your new sampler start is beautiful Michelle. I love the colours you’ve chosen. I also signed up for the Barbara Ana SAL. It’s my first one and I’m really enjoying it so far.
The synthetic threads 40 wt are usually use in machine embroidery. 50 wt is usually use for quilting and clothing construction from what I understand. I’m a quilter also an I have used 50 wt in the construction of the quilt top and the quilting. I have also use 40 wt for decorative stitching on top of the quilt. Because quilt fabrics are mostly cotton I use cotton threads. So I’m not as familiar with the synthetic threads.
Lovely video as always. I've just finished the Deck the halls chart as I'm watching this video..and switching to the Barbara Anna's deer,I'm halfway trough and he is so cute, his little eyes are amazing like all of her charts
Another enabling Sunday morning enabling video. They are always so enjoyable. The totes from Amazon may be the perfect solution for my growing stash of Anchor floss now that they come on spools and I like the wire tree from IKEA. I am starting the Barbara Anna from punch work magazine after finishing a drum today. Hope you have a great week.
Good morning Michelle from a grey casted Ontario, Canada. It actually looks like snow clouds in the sky, but w shall see. Ohh, Mary is so lovely, I'm glad you started to stitch her up. When something is just picking at your thoughts, you might as well just stitch it !!!! As always, enjoyed your briefing!
Thanks Michelle! Love your new sampler and am looking forward to its release. Also as usual I love your style and would love to buy it all. For now I’ll just look. Life is too short and the joy of everything is so great! I need to be patient and learn to appreciate more the moment I’m in… Talking to me…. I want it all. 🤗 Thanks so much for your great FlossTube! Thank you Michelle for your briefing. It gave me a welcome break from the dreaded marking. My stitching will be sparse the next couple of weeks as I have a module running, but I am looking forward to a festive break and loads of stitching ,so these freebie patterns will fit beautifully. I like to get ahead, I call them my in case projects. The box for the Sulky thread was a find as I noticed the Sulky storage cases apart from the cost I think may not hold the whole collection. Love the tree, Santa's galore.
What a find, that Ikea tree! Have to see if they sell this overhere in the Neteherlands. Enjoyed seeing all your projects. And I did see one of your charter samplers in a flosstube in the U.S. She used Dutch tulp motives to fill up the open space in the sampler. With a very nice result!
It is official. Sunday mornings are the most expensive morning of my week - and happily so! I was very proud of myself when I stopped my habit of stopping for lattes on the way to work but I seem to have developed a more costly habit🤓.
@@mommalovesyougb the magazine subscription!!! Then I will have order more fabric ... then more floss .... To be fair, I am ‘prepping’ for my hip replacement recovery period. Although I will be away from teaching for 3-6 months, I am excited at the time to stitch!!! Exhausted teacher brain talking ....
Love you Sundays!! Love the sulky and wish to purchase. But the few sites I found them on do not ship to all european countries. Can you please post the link from where you got them?
@@mommalovesyougb thanks!! Am trying to find their contact details online as they limit shipping to 5 countries. Maybe if I find an email and contact them they'll be able to ship. Thanks again
40 weight tends to be used for embroidery, sewing, or sewing machines. Rayon tends to be shinier, almost a satin look. Have you brought any of the 12 weight blendables yet? They are great for monochrome pieces. I tend to use them for things like Long Dog samplers. Their metallic threads are also quite good as well. Wool Warehouse in Leamington Spa (also online) have some sulky threads for sale, and a little cheaper than most places.
Hello! I do have a few of the blendables. My only criticism of them would be is that for many of them, I find the colour change to be too sharp…I prefer the intermediate tones that come with hand dyes. It probably doesn’t help that I stitch full cross rather than half leg and then back so the colour change is even more immediate for me. I wish I could stitch the other way but I just can’t - my stitches look awful 🤣
Always amazing watching you as.you sharing you amazing finds and stitching...thanks for sharing...take care
