    I am a Harvard alumni, and I was on staff for a year. I am shocked by the cold shoulder.
    Harvard constantly uses the word ‘community,’ but they really mean that in a way it is your local community college in addition to the historic icon. And I think we generally live up to that. But we are iconic worldwide, and so to hear even the beginning here, it seems to me we aren’t living up to that spirit and intention of ‘community’ as America’s most dear and oldest university.

    How exactly can a college on Massachusetts have a history with slavery?

    • @kwesinho
      @kwesinho 2 роки тому +5

      Harvard was founded in 1636.
      Massachusetts abolished slavery in 1783.
      Slavery was abolished in the United States in 1865.
      How can Harvard, in MA have a history with slavery?
      Well, take the example of Lowell, MA. Famous for its cotton mills. Those mills ran on and were entirely dependent on slave grown cotton from the south. Despite slavery being abolished in MA.
      So unless you believe Harvard had no relation to slavery prior to 1783, and following its abolishment in the North, (there was slavery in the North, probably where your confusion comes from), no connection to the European Christian colonialist global capitalist economy that the US was central to, and still is very much a part of.
      With Harvard being Harvard (premier institution, storied history, old, most presidents, most Supreme Court, blah blah) perhaps you can share how it is you think not?
      Or if you care, check out the report that Harvard put out.

    The harvest has begun! (Matthew 13:30) "... repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand" (Matthew 3:1-2) God demands repentance from everyone, for "there is no righteous man on earth who does good and does not sin" (Eccl. 7:20)..."
    “None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good,
    not even one.”(Rom. 3:10-12).
    "And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be in the days of the Son of Man: they
    ate, drank, married, married, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed everyone.
    Just as it was in the days of Lot: they ate, drank, bought, sold, planted, built; but on the day that Lot left Sodom, a rain of fire and brimstone fell from heaven and destroyed everyone; so it will be on the day when the Son of Man appears. On that day, whoever is on the roof, and his things are in the house, do not go down to take them; and whoever is in the field, also do not turn back. Remember Lotova's wife.
    Whoever saves his soul will destroy it; and whoever destroys it will revive it.
    I tell you: that night there will be two on the same bed: one will take, and the other will remain; two will grind together: one will take, and the other will remain; two will be in the field: one will take, and the other will remain."
    (Luke 17:26-36)
    "Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour at which the Son of Man will come."
    (Matthew 25:13)
    10 And he said to me, Seal not the words of the prophecy of this book; for the time is at hand.
    11 Let the unrighteous still do unrighteousness; let the unclean still be defiled; let the righteous still do righteousness, and let the holy one be sanctified still.
    12 Behold, I am coming soon, and my retribution is with me, to reward everyone according to his deeds.
    13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the First and the Last.
    14 Blessed are those who keep his commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life and enter the city through the gates.
    15 But outside are dogs, and sorcerers, and adulterers, and murderers, and idolaters, and everyone who loves and does unrighteousness.
    16 I, Jesus, have sent my angel to witness these things to you in the churches. I am the root and descendant of David, the bright and morning star.
    17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come! And let him who hears say: Come! Let him who is thirsty come, and let him who is willing take the water of life for free.
    18 And I also testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds anything to them, God will put on him the plagues that are written in this book;
    19 And if anyone takes away anything from the words of this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his participation in the book of life, and in the holy city, and in what is written in this book.
    20 He who bears witness to this says, "To her, I am coming soon!" Amen. To her, come, Lord Jesus!
    21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ is with you all. Amen."
    (Revelation of John the Theologian, 22:10-21)
    "If we say that we have no sin- we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us." (1 John 1:8)
    "Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out" (Acts 3:19)

    • @ms.harris807
      @ms.harris807 2 роки тому +4

      Just who are all those white people that fought against slavery? Nobody has to cherry pick history except the people who belong in the camp of the majority of white people. The perpetrators and the co-conspirators. White people who pose this same tired deflection don't want to be identified as guilty. Y'all weren't saviors. White people don't do anything unless they benefit from it. Black people know that all too well so I always question what is the function, for who's benefit and what is the intent of this question. It all leads back to keeping white supremacy intact. To not acknowledge, repair a wrong but instead gaslight and operate in bad faith so that you don't have to act is complicity and co-conspiracy in maintaining unearned advantages and benefits. Status quo.

      @@ms.harris807 your response is a racial attack against whites? Who is acting racist? Even disputing that union soldiers who died in the Civil War were majority white. Surprised how little you know of history. How about world history? Did you know that more blacks have been enslaved by blacks given how long slavery has persisted in Africa and still is a scourge in Africa today? Do you know that tribalism in Africa is racism? Do you know that UK led the movement to abolish slavery. Try reading history instead of BLM propaganda. ua-cam.com/video/VWrfjUzYvPo/v-deo.html. Thomas Sowell wrote a serious academic study on the history of slavery in Africa. Racism is bad but pinning the blame only on a single race because of your preferred bias and benefit from race hustling is factually false and reveals only your racial hate. I agreed with you, until I listened to her. She directly impacted. Meaning generationally instead of just free slaves move on with your life. History didn't go in that direction for Black Americans. However, I feel the 90s generation could have done more to impact this generation. Change won't fully be felt until those from the days of Civil rights die out on both sides but instead of focusing on who doesn't like you, we need to focus on making our communities better.
      Crime is hard to tackle but stopping racist developers should be first, Including non-white developers who persist on building liquor stores, dollar stores or owning plazas for tax, loan, and scummy insurance offices.I was born in 83 and saw the remnants of Jim crow and Civil rights. Kids in the country had to be let out to go work in the fields and black men waited to work on farms. These were all the jobs provided if you couldn't get on as a cook or janitor or work in the local plants. The schools were physically crumbling on the black side but the white communities look like pictures on a magazine. They
