Theyre over 12..physically, anyway. However, they are, unfortunately, brew douches, as is common. Anytime you see a guy with a beard pretending to like whiskey bc they think its a masculine thing to do, and/or ESPECIALLY who make their own beers, theyre 'brew douches'. There are only a few things anyone needs to know about whiskey: Make whiskey, age whiskey (or not), if you cannot then make and age whiskey, buy whiskey, drink whiskey. Thats all thats required. No one cares about your 'nutty/chocolatey/woody/vanilla-y" designations. Youre just being a douche. Idk what it is about some wyt people that make them think they own, know, or can reclassify everything, but you simply cannot. PSA: 'brew douches' also applies (usually simultaneously) with 'coffee connoisseurs" .
I was there, just outside camera range. Thanks to Daniel, Mrs Daniel, Emma, Deb, Tommy, Spicoli Joe (Rex had to edit, but he said 'Hi") for being so cordial and showing me the barrel house, and maybe thieving some tastes with Emma and Patrick Kohn, Made my run to the South Worth it... Guys, seriously, I love the mix of knowledge and antics. I am new to the family, and thoroughly enjoying myself. As a long time whiskey drinker (meaning a rocks glass full of Jameson) I am starting to explore other varieties. I would love to see a compilation video of the first and second bottle the tribe would recommend in each whisk(e)y category for those starting their journey. For example, if someone wanted to get to know bourbon, what's the first bottle you'd reach for, the quintessential example? Then what would be your second bottle, either to reinforce the category, or as an example of the direction things could go.
I'm excited to see Jesse let loose in the still house with deb ....I have a feel you guys are gonna have jars an jars of there ideas afterwards... you'll need a big jug with a jolly roger on the outside .. put it on the far corner and see how long it takes someone to ask about the poison bottle ...lolol
Finally!!! A channel of non-pretentious whiskey bada$$es!!! You guys are dope! That cement mixer/charcoal filter method is cutting edge! Bet that whiskey is to die for!
Just had to drop a quick tale. You magnificent Bastards have always hyped Ardbeg 10 like a crazy rough take ya to the shed whisky. So I, being a newbie to the world of whisky have stayed away. After coming into whisky from the Game of Thrones collection, my lady & I tasted the Talisker 1st & thought oh dear god no, what have we done. Oddly enough didn't like the Lannister lagavulin 9yo at 1st, now one of my fav's. Walked into Total Wine yesterday & they were giving out free samples of Ardbeg 10. At 1st I was like no thanks , but then thought screw it, we only live once. Long story long, I loved the Ardbeg. To me it tasted 95% like the Lannister 9yo lagvulin. Stay crazy & Magnificent...
You guys should try different types of woods to see the effects each one has on a whiskey. I've lightly charred apple wood chips for a wood smoker and left them in bottles of bourbon overnight and it imparts a light sweetness to them.
Having been a follower of this, and your Whiskey Vault channel for months now, i must declare that your videos are outrageously underrated! I always enjoy every second
Maybe it’s the substitute teacher in me, but what is charming for about 5 minutes, after a while, makes me want to send these fools to the principal haha
funny!! But actually made slightly different. It is brought up to temp prior to ignition in a low oxygen environment. that keeps it from actually burning and just chars most of the wood.
What woods have you used ? which do you think is best for charcoal or ageing? I'd love to hear your results please 🙏 I just found a oak tree hear in NZ that I was thinking of using for ageing and charcoal filtering I've also started a long term experiment with ageing alcohol using walnuts, and different native , and fruit tree woods myself but would love your thoughts
I have tried this on small scale with activated charcoal from the pet store for use in fish tank filters , I do believe it can take white dog to another level.
Kinda bummed that we didn't get to see what Daniel keeps in his secret stash. What could possibly be so amazing that even the vault's locked cabinet can't be trusted with it?
You guys should take a trip to Tennessee and visit Jack Daniels and George Dickel sans shenanigans, especially Dickel. The new head distiller there is awesome and the 13 year old bottled in bond is righteous for less than $40
Y'all need to get a weight strap on that forkie. Just take some old load strap and put a 5kg bell on one end and a hook on the other, Hook it on the under back and sling it round the barrel over the top and back on the forks.
I am surprised that Rex can actually swing an ax. Most people try to swing an axe like a hammer. He has got that good "over the shoulder" style and good aim. I would like to see the hands a little further apart while lifting the axe though.
Charcoal filtering commercial vodka yourself is a thing. Most people would buy a jug type water filter rather than a wood and a hoodie. You can turn something dirt cheap into something middle shelf. Also if you happen by a truly horrific whiskey you can turn it back into moonshine and mix the flavour away.
So at 2:34 Deb was dumping "spent wash", which is essentially beer with the alcohol taken out. That got me wondering, could you pull a ghetto version of Jameson Caskmates by just putting the wash into a barrel for a while before dumping and filling with whiskey?
Is it possible to get a revisit of the Nelson Greenbriar whiskeys? The Tennessee White started me on this journey and I'm interested in the aged version. Thanks so much!
@@1218Draco Look up a video for all grain brewing. you can take that process and pretty much just add a distillation step at the very end and that's how you make whisky.
Sanskar Wagley I want to see this happen because I want to see them try dickel tobasco but also because I really want to see their method of tobasco flavouring whiskey haha
So exposing the whiskey to a crazed dolphin helps with the rapid aging? Who would have guessed it. Seriously, the Britta filtering might work, I saw Alton Brown do it with Vodka where he poured it netween two pitchers several times to make bad vodka into good vodka.
After I have stopped laughing, I have to ask - how the hell did a couple of 12 year olds get a license to distill whisk(e)y?
Oh how I lol and I lol and I lol

The Spirit Monk[e]y wishes to express concern regarding use of the term "Banana Hammock Filtered".
Thank you for all the laughs y'all. It's been a little bit of a rough week so I've really enjoyed this video. Cheers and have a wonderful weekend.

Yes, “Vault” for knowledge & “Tribe” for knowledge plus shenanigans; such greatness with each!
Thank you guys for all of this! In 2023, these are now the good ol' days... nostalgia ftw
No data left on my phone. Still watching
On a plane watching again with my other phone as first phone is dead. Great video gents. And I use the term loosely
Rex must be the king of Health and Safety at the distillery
I think this version should be called "The Whiskey Tribe Process".
The Spirit Monk[e]y concurs.
Please place your episodes on Rumble and Spotify along with UA-cam!!! Love you guys and your videos!
Was the banana hammock new or "charred"? Asking for a friend ...
I have those exact same water pouring things in Michigan. This was a great experiment video! Thanks for the content gents!
Shenanigans made filtering process so much more fun!
I literally at the end jumped out of my chair a little haha
Who was it at the end ?? Rex was filming right .
I had been wondering since yesterday what Rex had planned to get back at Daniel for his "secret stash" this was just perfect. :D

Ok Rex, touche! The ending of this video made me laugh out loud.
This is top level shenanigans

Gotta go to Austin just to drink with yall

Loved the last part. Run Daniel , Run Daniel .
Rex, is a man, chops like a champ
Ahhh my need for shenanigans has been quenched - it has been too long.
Rex over here giving a new meaning to "WASHing your hands"
The act of wetting the hot coals, creates activated charcoal. Which has a higher surface area, allowing for a finer filtration
Really need that info thanks 👍😊
*PLEASE* do a video describing the nuances and procedure of hot and cold filtering....and what they do to whisk(e)y!!! 🙏🙏🙏
I’ve been filtering/aging through different charred fruit woods. With some amazing results!!
What woods have you used ? which do you think is best for charcoal or ageing? I'd love to hear your results please 🙏

best shenanigans yet
Smoke follows beauty, and beauty's a horse.
“We can try this damaged thing!” I have heard that way too many times in the bedroom 😂
I think the words, Rex was looking for, was "Homing Smoke"
Has it been said, that Emma is adorable?... #imjustsaying
Okay, naked Cape dolphin, chasing Daniel, might be the best thing I've ever seen. Recurring character, plix.
I just about fumbled my phone at the end haha good stuff guys
I think Rex's hood would be fine for filtering! Whats the big deal?!
Right?!?
How To Basic: The Whiskey Tribe Edition! lol
I'm really enjoying your flicks. But to be honest I'm hammered.
I have tried this on small scale with activated charcoal from the pet store for use in fish tank filters , I do believe it can take white dog to another level.
The hoodie is sherpa lined for extra filtration.
I think I've got a crush on Emma lol. Everyone who works for/with you guys seem like super dope people.
Kinda bummed that we didn't get to see what Daniel keeps in his secret stash.
What could possibly be so amazing that even the vault's locked cabinet can't be trusted with it?
its probably stuff he bought personally. that wasnt donated and thus isnt vault property
I only watched the last part 5 times, i swear. That was funny as hell
What is very interesting, is that even Evan Williams does the filtering.
I love the "science" in this video.

oh how awesome it would be to spend one day with u guys
best part “do you know what chemicals are in concrete?” 🤣🤣🤣
I believe gentleman jack is filtered before and after ageing.
I believe you are correct.
'A Few Stray Hairs Tennessee Whiskey' has a nice ring to it. Just saying.
Chimney starters are the only way to go!
Another Great Video
You guys are insane! I love it! Lmao!!! 😂🤣😂🤣😂
Isn't gentleman jack filtered before and after aging?
I think the big thing about that particular whiskey is that it goes through the process twice.
Thanks for the ending I needed a good laugh
You keep showing that dam dolphin in the banana hammock I'm gonna start having nightmares!
Y'all need to get a weight strap on that forkie. Just take some old load strap and put a 5kg bell on one end and a hook on the other, Hook it on the under back and sling it round the barrel over the top and back on the forks.
Thank you for making me laugh😁😁😁
I knew this was a joke when you brought out the Kentucky Gentleman!...LOL!
I bet you could make some soap with that spent wash so it doesn't goto waste and it can be used as merch you can actually distribute.
Best ending ever ! hahahaha
Lol you guys made my day here
I am surprised that Rex can actually swing an ax. Most people try to swing an axe like a hammer. He has got that good "over the shoulder" style and good aim. I would like to see the hands a little further apart while lifting the axe though.
Smoke follows beauty Emma.
Does that mean Rex sold his soul to the hipster dolphin? Oh please great spirits of whiskey save Rex!
Great videos!!!

I see a nice wheelchair ramp going up to your building
My Fraternity brother would use a brita and mint to filter and flavor grain alcohol. I can't remember how unsuccessful it was.
Whahahahaha! Did not see that coming! 😂
Ok that ending lol
You should make your own activated charcoal :) (Codies Lab has a good method)
You guys kill me!
Did the Dolphin Snob put his knob on Daniel's secret stash?
Isn’t that wash stuff the cattle feed mentioned in early Whiskey Biscuits?
No, the feed is the spendt grain from the brewing process. What they had here was all the liquids left over after the alcohol was distilled off.
robert m but after that they have the grain, right? Or is it strained out before distilling?
@@1218Draco The actual grain is removed before fermentation.
robert m 0_0 That I did not know

im just drunk enjoying the ending with naked dolphin man in 2020
Is there any concern that there might be some rust in that first batch?
Old Dominion freight for the win!
We way down in T.X
Beware a dolphin wearing a cape, I always do! LOL
You watered down the whiskey with the wet charcoal. Jack Daniels dries their charcoal before using it as a filter. Cool experiment though!
did you dry out the charcoal before putting it into the pitcher bc that could explain the watered down taste
So exposing the whiskey to a crazed dolphin helps with the rapid aging? Who would have guessed it.
