Thanks for this clear and concise video on overbridge. I’ve yet to use it with my Digitakt, Syntakt and Digitone. A new world of sound awaits for me 🪄🎹
Hey there !! Just one quick question, is it possible to use a different Audio Engine in Preferences (example, Focusrite Scarlett) but still get the Syntakt sounds in individual Channels in Ableton through USB ?? Thanks a bunch, besautiful content :) !!
Hey thanks for the comment. Assuming in your example you would be recording multi channel with Overbridge and additional instruments through your DAW in real time? I'm unable to test as I don't have another USB C adapter but I believe the Scarlett audio interface would be competing with Overbridge. I think Ableton can only recognize one audio engine at a time and I would recommend recording your ideas on Syntakt with Overbridge then separately recording your other instruments into your daw with Scarlett.
The DAW input settings will work even if you do not select the Elektron device. In fact, the official instructions say not to select the input Elektron device.
Great video! My questionis..how I can keep the tempo of my Syntakt at Ableton when I change patterns with different tempo?Somehow it is locked ..Thanks!
This is great! Why is it quiet? Did you ever figure that part out? Is that something in the settings? I would be concerned about too much noise if I crank up the gain in the DAW
My one didn't see at all. I heard about there is in the system preferences to enable over bridge but unfortunately you didnt talk about that at all. :(
Went here to know if we have the input in syntakt also availlable in overbridge , the question is how are the converters versus lets say an rme ? The other thing is , isn t the main selling point of overbridge the fact that you don t have to use it as a soundcard and still use you main soundcard ?
Thank you very much for the video. I have a question, if I have the digitone connected to external effects, how can I route the audio so that the effects are recorded? Since I don't select ext audio in ableton and select the digitone tracks as input source the external effects are not saved. Thanks
Thanks for the comment! You're welcome, glad it was helpful. That's a great question. I have a work around for this by sending the Digitone audio (that's been passed through external effects) into my Syntakt and then using the FX channel on the syntakt in overbridge to get the audio into my daw. Otherwise I use my other audio interface (Komplete Audio 6) to get the elektron audio recorded if I'm using external effects. I know that doesn't solve your problem but I can play around in Overbridge next time and see if I can find any other work arounds :)
Hello! I need some help I followed all the tuto with my analog rytm and ableton but when I'm trying to record all part is the daw.. There is no soud.. Is there something I miss in the preferences mod? Thanks sorry for my English.. 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Hi! Thank you for this tutorial! It works really great, but it seems that I can't send AUDIO L and R OUT when in Overbridge mode, is it normal? Or is there any hack to make it happen? :D
Thank you! I believe audio is only sent over USB while in Overbridge mode (and connected) and not the normal L/R outs. Are you trying to separate each signal when recording?
Just curious, I just have studio headphones and a Bluetooth speaker. Sometimes I want to playback my Syntakt on the speakers. If I play the Syntakt through Ableton… Can I get the sound to play through the Bluetooth speakers?
Hey man thanks for the video. Any tips for the latency I get when recording the Syntakt into Ableton? I like to pipe audio in through external instrument devices on midi tracks through to audio tracks so I can put effects on the midi tracks and tweak them as I’m playing notes on my Push 2. Routing audio directly from the Syntakt to audio tracks means I would have to put effects on the audio tracks which means when I’m using the Push to play notes I cannot (to my knowledge) access the effect parameters because they are over on the audio tracks. Also, the latency seems to vary a lot, which I guess is called jitter, but it’s more than just jitter because jitter should only vary a few ms back and forth whereas what I see is jitter plus the latency values getting larger and larger over time. So when I first load my project it may be 1-3 ms (which is already too much) and by the time I’ve played for a while it’s like 8-10 ms and eventually more and more. It’s bonkers.
Thanks for stopping by! I don't have any tips for you, as I've only experienced very low latency when using overbridge and haven't had to dive into troubleshooting.
Hey, what kind of computer do you use?? I’m trying to figure it out too… I have a 2012 intel MacBook Pro, I was thinking it may be the age of my computer , or the fact that I have too much storage space take. Up … let me know, maybe together we can figure this out
@@jacobsettlemyre4789 Im running on an M1 mac pro. Since then there have been some version updates and its "fine" now. I say "fine" because it sounds perfectly fine, but if I were to zoom in and measure, I would see some variation in the milliseconds between each of my 12 Syntakt tracks. Its so minute that I just ignore it and have been for a while now, although when I was paying attention to it and measuring it ranged from being EARLY by 3 ms to being late by like 6 ms. It would fluctuate and vary, and over time the longer I had everything running and the more changes I made (like opening new files) the worse it seemed to get. I will note however that flipping the device off and on again seemed to reset it and get it back to being in the 3 ms area. I hope that helps man.
Hey!I have Analog Heat Fx but if i try to open the Vst in ableton that imediatly crash and go off.I checked everithing what i just could.Do you have any idea what is the problem?
I am able to use overbridge with my syntakt ONLY if I set the syntakt as the audio interface in ableton preferences. If I use another interface it doesn't work at all. Any advice ? I'm sure that it'd be possibile to use overbridge with an external audio interface. (Windows)
You can use OB outside of your DAW as a stand alone plugin. I’m not sure how you would be able to use more than one audio interface in Ableton. I think the DAW is set up to only allow one AI at a time. If you’re trying to record a dawless session with non elektron instruments plus the Syntakt, I’d recommend using normal stereo recording in Ableton. OB is great for in the box sessions where you want to incorporate Elektron gear and not the best for dawless IMO.
when I drag Digitone into my midi, I just get a rectangel that pops up saying "Digitone / 3 - Digitone" but the inside is blank / white vs. having the interface for the overbridge. Does anyone else have this issue? I'm on Windows 11 on the latest update and downloaded the latest overbridge :/
I’ve used plugins to increase the db on each channel. The utility plug-in in Ableton is something I often use, though it’s basically compression and you’re squashing the dynamics of each track. Haven’t found a real option to keep the dynamics.
Yea, made especially for Elektron devices. You can connect directly to your computer via USB, I left that bit out. Overhub is only needed for multiple devices that would record simultaneously.
This is great. I've been holding off on overbridge just because I couldn't be bothered learning how to use it but this was nice and straightforward.
Appreciate the comment! Glad the video was helpful 😀

Very helpful, thank you. I'm trying Digitone as Ableton integration with Reaper wasn't so fluid for me. This seems more organized somehow
Life saver! It's that cheecky USB Config menu option on my Analogue Heat MK2 I didn't know about. Thank you!

Thanks -for this, can you control transport using the elektron boxes or do you have to press play on the daw?
I would need to experiment more to know for sure but I’ve always had to launch the sequence or chain using my daw.
