+GunzGonda I'm not sure what's your definition of freeway. If you mean dual carriageway, the speed limit in Poland is 110. If you mean motorway, the speed limit is 140. At 140 km/h this car is thirsty.
6:00 I do not get it.... motorway more consumption than in city? Is this normal for 2.0 engine? I always had impression motorway consumption would be higher for small engines 1.0-1.4 engines...
Is any chance for advice. I am trying to decide between 2015- vrs estate or passat gt estate? I have currently 2012 passat sport b7 and will prefer sth more sporty but without large drop in quality. Never had skoda before (few audi's and vw's). I especially worry about this cabin noise...is it really such a big difference between passat and vrs?
good review man, i drive a 2012 skoda octavia vrs down here in Australia, looking at upgrading to eiter this or the new 2015 superb ill wait to see what the superb offers frist
Great review! Very well done! I am about to buy the less exciting Lauren&Klement combi version. 4x4 DGS. The engine I've chosen is the 2.0TDI 184 hp, and the country in which i'll be driving it is Poland! With this, I have a couple of questions for you, before you become veeery famous, and without the time to reply to all of your fans! :) What is your opinion about this engine mounted in this version? And what (safety) equipment would you recommend, since all the skoda drivers in Poland like to push their cars to the limit? :)
It's a relatively new engine. I don't remember driving a car with it. As far as safety is concerned, I guess you're buying this car for long journeys, so adaptive cruise control and lane assist are a good idea.
Make it an RS Diesel Combi and you can hardly get more car for the money ... personally I like a sleeper so even though it's a Škoda I'd take the exterior RS badges off :)
+Mattwrigglesworth Worm There was clearly speaker overload sound on high revs in sports mode. Unless it was caused by general vibration of the whole car, which I doubt. I know there is another membrane under the windshield.
TheSaint491 That's the thing. I don't know. I'm not a big fan of Skoda, but there is nothing comparable. Skoda is big enough for D-segment, so a Focus ST (which is more fun to drive) is also too small to really compete.
Strange then you have so many positive reviews of skodas then haha. No, I couldn't go to Ford, I worked for them for two years and having learnt things they wouldn't want me to say, I wouldn't have one.
Don't mind paying a premium for something, but I always prefer left-field rather than, say, BMW or Audi. Infiniti Q50 or Lexus GS would be nice, but I still remain unsure.
+bg147 We have one Its a lot better than he described it .. fast .. quite .. comfortable .. big and looks scary .. its the best car you might ever have .
I really like the Octavia as a chepaer alternative to VW. This vRS however is nothing but a knock off: bad suspension, fake dual exhaust, dummy bits and peaces, fake noise
You obviously weren't listening. The engine is the same as a golf gti therefore why would you call it a knock off? You must have been someone who spent 10k more on a golf with a load less features and no space. Don't worry you can't always be right.
Trust me, there is a sound symposer in the vRS. You can't hear it in the video, but the speakers crackle at high revs. Even Audi TT TFSI has sounds fed into the cabin.
That is fucking true polish ricers like to get everything from their cars , went over there with my vrs 200 bhp and there wow even guys with 20 years old cars fiat or Daewoo was faster than me , wish I had dash cam at that moment these cars was bouncing like bouncy castles going over this slope roundabouts . 90 % cars runs on lpg boost
Who drives a car without the radio on? of course sports saloons are noisier, as the sound deadening carries weight. Dear God! get a proper car test reporter will you?
Marek Drives you complain about the noise and the poor insulation. You take weight out of sports saloons and who drives without a radio on? you wouldn't notice the road noise with the radio on
Alan Akeister First of all Skoda is hardly a sports car. It's a family car with a slightly more powerful engine, bigger alloys, and some red stitching on the seats. Sound insulation will be just as bad in any other Skoda. As far as your remark about driving with the radio on is concerned, I could be an audiophile, who likes to listen to music, rather than use music to mask other sounds.
bullshit, bullshit, bullshit, bullshit. Thats a wreck. 2.0T sucks for sport driving, you will change your engine on 50k already + FWD, you will leave your front tyres on the asphalt = no sense
+Dookie Duuk Well then, i have a 2011 Mazdaspeed 3 MPS (2.3T 4cyl) and it's done 97k km without having to replace ANYTHING. It has only ever had routine services done and still works like it was brand new. Tires are original as well.
I really enjoy your informative videos every friday, Marek.
+GunzGonda I'm not sure what's your definition of freeway. If you mean dual carriageway, the speed limit in Poland is 110. If you mean motorway, the speed limit is 140. At 140 km/h this car is thirsty.
+Marek Drives So true, the non-urban figures from the Manufacturer are for speeds up to 90 kmh
You have no idea..
Nice English, man :) Appreciate your reviews.
Good review Marek, thanks from Dublin
Cheers!
Great review, I am picking one of these up too so this review helped a lot, good video, and amazing english!
Very good and accurate test, methinks. I bought a VRS recently and I'd agree with everything Marek says about the car.
Great to hear!
Octavia vrs starts at 23k in serbia. Easily best value hot hatch.
6:00 I do not get it.... motorway more consumption than in city? Is this normal for 2.0 engine? I always had impression motorway consumption would be higher for small engines 1.0-1.4 engines...
option your Octavia with the Canton stereo and road noise will be no issue
Very nice test!!! it was interesting and pretty fun watching it.. keep with the good videos! :)
10l/100km on freeway but urban 8l? How does that work?
It doesn't, either is the opposite and the moderator slipped, or its the first non hybrid car to spend less on urban than freeway..
@@fatfat6389 Depends on the speed in the freeway ;)
your video is bole to jhakassss means superb about skoda
Thx for the English commentary. Great looking car. Now which model...hmmmmm??
I remember watching this as a kid
Is any chance for advice.

Subscribed, good video and looking forward to looking at some more of yours.
The Skoda Octavia VRS are in leather seats ?
good review man, i drive a 2012 skoda octavia vrs down here in Australia, looking at upgrading to eiter this or the new 2015 superb ill wait to see what the superb offers frist
Is Skoda popular Down Under?
getting there..over last few years i see more and more skodas on the road
Adam Zimmer Got a vrs recently in aus. Only seen a few vrs

I’m confused how the manual is faster… I always would’ve assumed the dsg would be faster
does this skoda have the chassis of the A4 B7 and Seat exeo? the back is exactly the same!
Audi is on a different platform, which can accommodate larger engines.
Great review!
nice reviewing style.
Make it an RS Diesel Combi and you can hardly get more car for the money ... personally I like a sleeper so even though it's a Škoda I'd take the exterior RS badges off :)
In UK we have vrs diesel estate
Very nice and practical
wrong the sound is not through the speakers. the sound inside is about the same as an audi a4 so its not loud.
+Mattwrigglesworth Worm There was clearly speaker overload sound on high revs in sports mode. Unless it was caused by general vibration of the whole car, which I doubt. I know there is another membrane under the windshield.
the speakers don`t have anything to do with sound.
good review!
The estate is so much better looking than the saloon
lrft indicator 1 min,, , why?
So, recommended?
TheSaint491 Depends what you're looking for.
Practical, comfortable, good looking, fun to drive. Recommendations around ths price bracket?
TheSaint491 That's the thing. I don't know. I'm not a big fan of Skoda, but there is nothing comparable. Skoda is big enough for D-segment, so a Focus ST (which is more fun to drive) is also too small to really compete.

Good job
That boot reminds me of a Saab 9000.
That little red polo is indicating that is gonna overtake you:D
Was it indicating? I thought it was just a reflection of light through leaves.
7:20 lol🤣🤣
Goes in trunk without handbrake... simply clever
Skoda Octavia is Octavia , it's a super car.
Well , nice car
the Police here have these, but the estate versions
You could just go and change the exhaust;)
I could always buy a different car ;)
Marek Drives Haha xD
Skoda octavia is made in slovakia not in polland
the man Who became a god Yeah, and where did I say it is made in Poland?
the man Who became a god Skoda is made in Czech Republic!!!!!
Czech and Slovakia r the same ......marek I heard you say it so duck off
the man Who became a god Play the video again, and this try to understand the first 30 seconds ;)
Vojtěch Svoboda Skoda made in VW !
My guess is 95%... actually, maybe 99% of Americans have no idea what a Soda is. I wonder why they are not available here.
+bg147 No need. It's VW's budget brand, which makes sense in Europe from marketing perspective.
I wish they sold them here, along with seat.
Gavin Racine Assuming Skoda was imported into the US, what would you compare this car to, when making a buying decision?
+Marek Drives i would choose between this or a mazda6
+bg147 We have one Its a lot better than he described it .. fast .. quite .. comfortable .. big and looks scary .. its the best car you might ever have .
You not a skoda fan !
That thing you had there for your ,,phone´´ was for a mp3 player
Oli nek It's for a phone or mp3 player. It fits older iPhones, but anything with screen bigger than 4 inches won't fit. That includes the iPhone 6.
this is one sexy car
I really like the Octavia as a chepaer alternative to VW. This vRS however is nothing but a knock off: bad suspension, fake dual exhaust, dummy bits and peaces, fake noise
u can turn off the noise :)
You obviously weren't listening. The engine is the same as a golf gti therefore why would you call it a knock off? You must have been someone who spent 10k more on a golf with a load less features and no space. Don't worry you can't always be right.
Sam Harknett maybe I should've added a REAL sports car knock off.
Trust me, there is a sound symposer in the vRS. You can't hear it in the video, but the speakers crackle at high revs. Even Audi TT TFSI has sounds fed into the cabin.
+On2Wheels maybe you should use your brain. This is a hatchback with more ooomph it is NOT a sport car it is a touring car
Škoda power
That is fucking true polish ricers like to get everything from their cars , went over there with my vrs 200 bhp and there wow even guys with 20 years old cars fiat or Daewoo was faster than me , wish I had dash cam at that moment these cars was bouncing like bouncy castles going over this slope roundabouts . 90 % cars runs on lpg boost

I'm not quite sure what you're on about. Could you elaborate?
Marek Drives you complain about the noise and the poor insulation. You take weight out of sports saloons and who drives without a radio on? you wouldn't notice the road noise with the radio on

А по русскому
А русского нет.
It is RS, not vRS!!!!
+pinkie factory Depends on the market.
Yes mainly in Europe it is badged as RS but in the UK it is called vRS
+James Gordon OH okey
Looks like an audi from two generations ago. Who would buy it
Grant Schneider which Audi is that?
Through the speakers 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 um get a mustang 😂
