Yes. I just caution people because I myself constantly make the mistake of jumping in with both feet. i decided to keep bees. Bought 50 hives. 3 years and a hell of a lot of work and expense later I have 30. Still trying to figure the little critters out. Enjoy your day my friend, and good luck. I'm going to try aquaponics myself, just for fun mostly.
Many fish are amazingly resilliant. Tilapia especially. As a farmer (almonds not fish) I do find it....disturbing I guess....how many people think it's so easy.
It's all a lot more complicated than one thinks. Not just the fish and plants but the legal / government / taxes /business and regulations side of the equation. I would strongly recomend you start out with just a small aquaponics setup and go from there. In anything there is a learning curve and the learning curve in farming is a multi year one. Once you've succeeded growing fish & vegies for yourself then you can think about expanding it into a business.
The intention of adding manure is to cause a phytoplankton bloom I'm order to feed zooplankton, the compost tea is a mix of bacteria and fungi primarily and wouldn't serve the same purpose.
I think omega 3/6 content has more to do with the food chain than the fish itself. I don't believe animals make omega 3/6 fatty acids. Pigs like flax and purslane, if that's their primary diet, I'm sure they would be loaded with omega 3/6.
There are studies underway on the amount of plastics in our food supply that would shock you. Tilapia is one of the most unhealthy foods you can consume on earth. It has as bad or worse Omega 3-6 ratios as pork. If these guys can figure our how to better grow perch for aqua culture I am all for it. Tilapia is the equivalent of Soylent Green.
would be cool to have a follow up video on something so important as this... Government funded means that data isnt released to the masses in any timely fashion. such a racket....... How can some scientists live their lives finding out so much stuff yet not care that noone learns of their findings.....
We’re raising them at The Farm in Milwaukee (former growing power) and are going to attempt to breed them again this year

We can do this!😊😊😊
what is the most nutritious Perch species?
Have there been studies/tests on using compost teas in the water instead of manure?
