I may be in the minority, but I enjoy a good easy game.
Then you’re gonna enjoy MM even more than I did! :D
Me too….I’m not the greatest at games but I love them regardless
I'm perfectly fine with Max being a good, easy game. The last several PSVR2 games I own and played and fully completed were all extremely hard (ALL were GOOD games, but they got hard). Light Brigade was freaking hard (I fully beat it, but because of it's Rougelike nature it gave me a hard time), Tales of Onogoro gets insanely difficult during it's second half (it's pure puzzle overload), the later levels of Mixture got very hard, the final level of Operation Serpens was a NIGHTMARE (there is a reason only 2% of players on PSN managed to beat it. I'm shocked I managed to beat it. But it took me SEVERAL attempts), It's a miracle I managed to beat all of those games.
and...
Walking Dead S&S chapter 2 Retribution (which I just got a few days ago) had me running around last night looking for an EGG TIMER... I spent four hours on a wild goose chase looking for an EGG TIMER!!! It finally showed up in some random kitchen (after SEVERAL other kitchens around the map in the game did NOT have an egg timer). That search for an egg timer nonsense had me up the wall.
With all of that said, I'm perfectly fine with Max Mustard being more of a fun and easy time. PSVR2 seriously needs more games like that.
Same. Life is hard enough, ffs lol 😅
Me too
Loved it on Quest 3 and looking forward to playing again on PSVR2. Hope they make a nice profit on the game so that we get a more fleshed out sequel one day
Thanks so much for the great review! 🙌 We wanted to give PSVR2 players the best experience possible and glad you appreciated all the extra upgrades we added.
Hopefully with enough support, we can see Max return again in an even bigger adventure!
@@ToastInteractive Oh we appreciate the effort, for sure! Really hope this game sells well and you can deliver a sequel ... or maybe even more great content for this one! ❤
I think a lot of people are definitely going to want more Max!
😁✌️☮️❤️
Definitely need more casual games like these
Thanks for the review Bryan , I will get this game soon!
Please do a review for Metal hellsinger VR! 💙
Seems like we're both on exactly the same page with this one, only 0.2 difference in score 😂✌️
Great game, just needs more!
If this is indie those guys are gonna get much bigger - they friggin nailed this - nice work - hope this sells like hot cakes & they gobble up all the hunger we all had for astrobot VR !
Looks fun, you mentioning it was easy sounds enticing since I’m terrible at platformers 🤣
got 100% on Astro yesterday, preordered this today, pumped, lets go psvr2 gang!
I know it’s not the same, but I’ve been playing the new Astro Bot with the PSVR2 headset on, and it’s actually pretty damn good. I’m full immersed and it works pretty well. I reccomend it. Good review as always man, we appreciate you
I totally agree. I blasted the screen as big as it could go, and it almost felt VR. Especially that awesome shrink down level. Amazing.
@@DustinSince19XX I was literally about to add to my comment and mention the mouse level (shrink down). I was seriously blown away in the VR headset with that one - absolutely amazing
@@jackcall3815 the best!
Might pick this up for my mom, she's been wanting something new since Astro.
i feel like this should've gotten at least a 9. also, not everyone hates VEN VR byran lol.
Awesome, so looking forward to this, but I really hope they fix the click turns by having a smooth option like normal games. Click turns are pukeworthy and make a VR game unplayable. Why do so many developers change the formula that's been fine for decades just because it's VR? Makes no sense. Suddenly snapping to different directions is nauseating. Just have it smooth like normal games and real life.
This looks really nice 😊 gonna have to pick this up. Not only does it look really fun, but supporting this might send the message to Sony that AstroBot NEEDS TO COME HOME! 😅
He'll ya! Looks great
You earned a like with the “fuck you, fuck you astrobot” in the first 20 seconds. Why is he still dressed as a vr headset? Is it to rub it in our face? What the fuck is happening? This tech could be the best thing that ever happened but Sony chose to ignore it and focus on their next financial disaster. (Hint. The 700 dollar system we already have but without the disc drive.)
Not having multiple difficulty levels is often a reason I won't buy a game. It adds challenge for those who want it along with replay value. But the game still looks fun. Glad we have a new, high quality platformer that the library desperately needed.
Looks amazing, wish there was some harder difficulty options and that it lasted a little longer but looks like a must buy whenever i have the cash! Great review as always! Fuck Astrobot!
Got it preordered, can't wait! Thanks for the quick review Bryan
😂 i was expecting "Astro said he loves us, loves us all and lied!!" Great review it was personal!
Sounds awesome! Thanks for the Review, Bryan!
Thank you for the review Bryan, it looks looks like really fun game!👍
Thank you so much Bryan
Nintendo is gonna sue them for that Bulbasaur though
Nice about 8 hours if you do bonus challange levels which is excellent for a super mario style game!! PolishPaul review mentions challanges add a couple hours to get around 8. Did you get to finsh all those to Bry? I havnt played yet to know what those are, so no clue. What do you think?
No chance my clock will ever hit 8 hours. It was 5 hours AFTER getting the gold on all challenges and getting all the collectibles. I'm guessing it'll only take another 30 minutes to knock out the last few trophies.
@@WithoutParolecool so atleast six hours for a platformer NEWB like me then. hehe :)
Wait Bryan…did you play Animal Well???? Such an unbelievable game. Probably my GOTY so far
Only a few hours but I love it so far. It's the perfect game to play on Portal! :D
@@WithoutParole I know it’s a VR channel, but I’d love to hear about your impressions on some of the flat games you play. Animal Well is special, so I’m glad you’re playing it :)
Let’s gooo! I’m so pumped to play this this week!
Hey don't take this out on Astro, you should try playing it with the VR headset on. Not IN VR, just with the headset. It's too fun to miss out on.
I played it on my Portal and loved it. I spend too much time playing actual VR games to wear the headset more than necessary lol :D
How's the ability to backtrack? Are you able to move the camera or is it still locked like in Rescue Mission?
On one level I realized I missed the very first Mudpup so I spun the camera around with the analog stick and went all the way back, no problem at all!
@@WithoutParole Nice, that was a major gripe I had with Rescue Mission. I know why it had to be that way, but it still blew. Good to know MM isn't restrained like that. Hope it does get a bigger sequel soon.
I need to finish both moss games before getting this would you say this or moss is better
Hard to say. I'd probably have to say the Moss games are better, but they're less about platforming and more about a puzzles and a strong narrative. Max is a straight up platformer.
@@WithoutParole right I can't wait for Hitman VR I never had psvr1 so I never got to try it
@@match30xgaming If they get the port right, you're gonna love it. Hitman was already awesome on PSVR1 even with the half-assed control scheme they stuck us with.
@@twitcherthesingleplayergamecat that's what I've heard I feel like this will be alot better I'm pretty sure the quest game was just a cash grab and most of their time has been put into this I really hope when their 007 game comes out it's in VR as well but we probably won't even see that until PS6
lol Watching the trailer for this game, I was like "oh, this is just astro bot".
I do hope Astro Bot gets a PSVR2 update tho
Unfortunately, I don't think that Astro Bot will get a PSVR version. The devs said they had no intention of making it VR because they'd have to go ALL in to make it as VR as possible. They wanted to cater to the majority first I guess. Hopefully they'll make Astro BOT VR in the future, but I don't think the current game will get a VR mode :/
I really liked Lucky Tales on the Rift when I got it and this seems to be about the same. I'll pick it up eventually!
Lucky's Tale was good, I think I gave it a 6.5 or 7.0 on PSVR1. Max is significantly better, minus the absence of time trials
Waiting for the starship troopers video .
I can't get out of my head this crazy -90% sale for this game for quest😅
It was a great buy and now it's back to regular price. I recommend it
🤣🤣
I'm actively happy they haven't shoehorned in a "Cry now please" story tbh. Mario, Sonic and hey, Astro Bot didn't need one, I don't need one here.
Recommended purchase price: $25.
A perfect opportunity for those that have PS+ then. There's an exclusive discount.
I really trust you on your reviews but I think this might be your 1st review where you did not foreshadow in the introduction. I also think Toast should have sent you a check along with the review key based on the fact I believe this is your best review you’ve done. Awesome job and thanks Bryan!
Errr... Max is a girl or a boy?? In some places they treat him as a boy, and in others as a girl.... I'm just curious, I don't care if it's one or the other, the game is already reserved.... :)
Great review Bryan. Looking forward to the improved framerate more than anything, max was great on Quest 3 but the reprojection took a bit of the shine off.
This sealed my pre-order. I'm ok with a game I can breeze through these days as long as it's fun. Too many games I want to play to spend too much time on one game lol. Especially with all the releases coming in October.
Haha! Love the intro!
I've watched several reviews for this game already today ... and yours is, as usual, the best 💖
One small disappointment with the game, when your controllers are represented on screen, it's a shame they didn't redesign them to look like Sense Controllers for this version, rather than stylised Quest/PC Controllers.
This is just something with me. Max Mustard is a terrible name. Astrobot made you wonder before you saw it.
I might just have to pick this one up after I've finished astrobot.. I couldn't resist it lol ..., it'll still be good to have a similar game on the headset while we wait for astro to come back home 😊
I just don't get the point of vr in 3rd person. I thought vr meant 1st person? Looks fun I guess, but it defeats the purpose of vr for me.
@@smoothlyrough512 Try it. You might like it. Astrobot was easily in the Top 3 games on PSVR1 during that headset's entire lifetime.
Moss, Ghost Giant, Preta and Bloody Zombies were all really fun 3rd person VR games, too.
VR is just another way to play games, no rules. What I personally love about Max Mustard (and Moss and Along Together etc) are that they combine first person interactions WITH third person platforming. Really fun and not something you see much of on the flatscreen
Being immersed in the world is something totally different. You can look up at the cliffs or giant objects surrounding you.
Huge bosses getting in up in your face. Being able to directly interact with the world with your hands etc. It's just another layer really.
This looks really good I just wish we could see from the characters point of view I’d be like first person Mario
I was waiting on your review before i pulled the trigger on this one. I am going to pick it up now. Thanks
I guess I really suck at games more than I even imagined cause I found some of these levels to be pretty hard and was wishing fo more abilities to get through them. Thanks for the review Bryan. I am considering double dipping on this one and your review pushed me one set closer to doing just that.
Pre-ordered it today!-)
Who needs Astrobot!😅🙄😭😤
Go Max😎💪🙌🙏
Thank god easy platinum I was so scared this is similar to Luckys Tale VR
I really like the game on Quest 3. Glad more people get to play this game.
I'm actually happy this is an "easy game" as not everything needs to be a soulsborne game.
Thanks for the review, preordered!
I hope it won't feel like astrobot from wish
To hell with Astro bot max is our girl now
Pre-ordered it ! Thanks for the review Bryan!
Great review, looks like it’ll scratch the ‘Astro bot rescue mission’ itch, I enjoy how thorough you are, thanks!
Oh and I just preordered this 😊
The review we have all been waiting for
I will hold out for you Astrobot 🤘🏻
Thank you as always, Bryan
Is there a platinum?
Yup! On every Review Summary screen at the end I show whether there's a plat and how difficult it is to get :D
Awesome, my bad I was looking on the right and left side and forgot to check the middle. Awesome review man, keep up the good work.
Thanks!
Damn you Astro
LOUD NOISES
Bryan the opening to this video was too darn cute 😅 I'm sure he'll come back. They always come back 🤖
Sold!
I keep being impressed by the quality of your videos! 👏👏👏
Jammyhero, AJ and Myles are like Griezmann, Eto and Zlatan and you're Messi 😃
@@magnusfrost537 pretty sure Bryan won't have a fucking clue who any of those those are, lol.
But you're right, he's the Master.
What are you British bruvs on about? Bloody soccer? That's the sport you fancy, inn'it? LOL
Good job, I love you videos.Keep up the good work. you are my favorite Vr guy and the game cat
Looks great. I'll wait for it to go on sale though. £22 is a bit steep for a 5 hour game with no replayability. Plus I detest digital only titles so I wait until they're dirt cheap. It doesn't sit right with me to basically 'rent' games.
I'm old school though, I like knowing in 20 years time, as long as I own the hardware, I'll be able to play the software. I still play my old Dreamcast games now, same games I had in 2001 or so, yet I've had about 6 Dreamcasts since then.
It's replayable . It's a casual game and any good game even short you'll go back in replay. If you think about the original donkey Kong country it's short now that I have played it vs when it first released. I can bet it in a few hours vs the days when we were kids 😅
I'm very much in the pro-physical camp for mainstream games, but it's a high standard to hold indie games to. A number of VR studios have said they haven't made their money back on disc copies of their games as the margins are very tight in this niche. If you want PSVR2 to hang in there, we need to relax our standards and show more understanding to devs who are trying to produce games for us under tight financial restrictions.
People pay £22 for a takeaway that takes 30 mins to enjoy and it's gone forever. Or a 2 hour movie in a cinema that's gone forever, or a train ticket, a drink, etc. If you ask me, "Would you work your normal job for 2 hours, in order to pay for this game to enjoy whenever for 5 or 6 hours?" That's an easy yes. Add on the fact that this supports a great developer and brings demand for more PSVR2 platformers/a sequel, then it's even more of a no brainer to me.
I played Astro's Playroom for about 15 hours total, despite completing it in less than half the time. Gaming isn't about getting to 100% and that's it. The joy you get from games like this can be experienced multiple times. When I have a long day and turn on Astro's Playroom, I'm in heaven, even though I've played it several times previously. Just like how I love listening to my favorite songs more than once and would happily pay more for, because of how it makes me feel, not how many minutes the song is.
Physical copies are very expensive and costly for indie studios to make. Unfortunate, but economics are what they are.
Purple Mowhawk approval buuuuuuddy
It's not a real VR game
...
Awww you're gatekeeping what defines VR. Adorable.
@@WithoutParole You don't need a VR headset to play these games. And people usually don't buy a VR headset to play these games 🤷♂️
@@WithoutParole it's almost Mario 64 in a VR headset
Even if that was the case (it's not) that's fine. Some games have more interactions than others. But Max Mustard, Astro Bot, Moss, Along Together, and other VR platformers all include lots of first person interactions where you and the in-game character work together. Plus everyone loved Astro on PSVR1 so you're not correct when you say VR gamers don't want to play these games
Imagine crying over your own definition of what a real, but virtual, reality game is. Doesn't even make sense. If you had actually played a variety of VR games, you'd know why this works beautifully and is the future.
