I don’t believe I’ve ever seen anyone paint the center of the flower first. I’ll try this method. Thank you.
Really?! How interesting. I love it.
I love this video....!!! This is exactly what I want to be learning....!!! I love your style of painting, the way your tutorials are so easy to follow and learn from, and especially how encouraging you are...!! I enjoy all of your tutorials...!!!
Thank you so much....!!!
Oh goodness, thanks so much! You are so kind :)
I struggle so much with painting loose. Every time I try, I feel like I dont leave enough white space, and while I'm painting, the whole time, I'm thinking, "This doesn’t look like anything. It just looks sloppy." I love the way it looks when others do it, but for some reason, I can't accept my own loose painting.
I hear you! We are all so critical of our own work. I always encourage leaving lots of white space. Then you could always add in more color and fill the space in later if there’s too much for your taste ☺️
Omg, me too!
Your color mixing is amazing! the Bouquet is so cute!!!💐💐💐
I really appreciate that, thank you :)
What a wonderful lesson and painting! Totally in awe! Thanks so much Tammy!
I have always loved how quickly your painting approach is, because that’s how I tend to go too. Just over time knowing that I’ll overthink it, maybe I adapted to quicker painting and wanting to finish a painting ‘quick’.
Thanks for easing my insecurity, because I’ve always seen ‘true and talented’ artists take hours finishing work!
Oh I’m so glad that this was encouraging to you! Honestly I felt the same way, admiring others who take their time. But honestly I’ve realized that I don’t have the attention span or the patience! I even often do just one layer to get it done. I like painting quick, not belaboring the project. Trying to speed up my landscapes as well because I often take a long time with those but that is not my preference ☺️

I am enjoying these tips thankyou. Just a tip for anyone who is finding this is going a bit fast for them, you can slow down the speed of the video , go into settings, then go into advance settings, then plackback speed and push it to make it go slower until you find the speed that suits you.
Thank you Karen! Yes, I am a very fast painter lol
Beautiful composition I love your painting style Tammy
Thanks Nikki!
Thank you! Great teaching. Perhaps faster will help me as well. I’ll try it!
Yay I’m excited you will try it out!
Thank you so much! Pretty sure my biggest problem is holding the brush too tightly and too close to the ferrule. Will try for further up and see how it goes! I also go pretty slowly, though... many things to work on, haha. Thanks again!
You are so welcome! Remember, the way you hold the brush and how fast will you go is personal preference. These are just my tips that I find work for loose florals but they might be uncomfortable or not helpful for others. Happy painting!
Happy St Patrick's Day. I love the colorful, happy painting.
Thank you Melinda, you too! Happy you like the painting.
Beautiful! I need to try this. 😊
Excellent! I hope you have a great time trying it out.
These are such useful tips, Love it ❤❤❤
Thank you so much! Happy you watched.
looks great!
Thank you so much!
Love this Tammy! I struggle with using too much water and not sure how to overcome this? I spray my palette first, then wet my brush and it seems to be too watery when I start painting. When I try to back off the water, my brush is either too dry or the paint is to pigmented. Guess I need to keep practicing and figure out the fine balance. Thanks!
I would keep loading your brush in the same way but right before you make marks on your paper, quickly dab your brush on a paper towel. It will soak up the excess water, leaving enough to paint without the puddles! Hope that helps.
When I go fast I always like my painting much better.
Yes! I completely agree. It's strange but I do believe the brain gets left behind with all its judgment and you can just paint intuitively and with the right side :)
I use less expensive supplies and it makes it harder for beginners like me because the paper either absorbs too quick or not at all. The paints don’t either soften, don’t bleed or don’t have enough pigment.
Yes, that is true and frustrating!
I'm not comfortable painting so fast. I think I can be just as loose without feeling so rushed. Sorry I know you like this style, but I do not. Still liked the painting though.
That’s completely fine! Everybody has to paint in the style with which they feel comfortable. For example, I think I paint fast because I also write really fast! Lol. I know if I slow down my handwriting would probably look way better but I guess I just don’t have the patience 😂 i’m so glad that you get the looseness and don’t feel rushed. Thanks for stopping by!
