In South Africa this game is very popular even the kids who are still in Primary School are still playing this in the shops that have an Arcade Cabinet. Bro during the 2010s every kid in SA played the death out of this game along with KOF 2002 plus magic 2 ultra (forgot the full name of Kof 02 😅). This game has a special place in my childhood
Everyone called the game "Mustafa" because he's the most picked and used Character, nobody called it Cadillacs and Dinosaurs 😂 guess the name wasn't as catchy as King of Fighters
I enjoyed this, this was my friend and It's final arcade round up game, after the fighting games (majority KoF, SamSho, and a bit of Garou: MOTW), a bit of Beat 'Em Up gaming after working up a fighting game barrage was the icing on the cake
This was probably every South African's most played beatem up game back in the Arcade days. I only learned later that it was called Cadillac and Dinosaurs because everyone would just call it Mustapha because he was the most popular character
Cadillacs and Dinosaurs or as we call it "Mustapha" is the single game that can describe my childhood, my gaming career, my entire life and the gaming era of our country Bangladesh. From bunking teachers/tuition/coaching, stealing money everyday for the arcade, getting beaten by my father everyday sometimes to a level that my mother had to take me to the doctor, getting betrayed everyday by my friends that I used to trust, beating other kids to get to play the game, getting beaten by the seniors for arguing to get a joystick especially 1P one to a kid getting knifed to death by another kid in our arcade, this game is connected every aspect of my life. I am ruined by this game as I became a fighter because of this game. This game is not only the national arcade game of Bangladesh but this game is the game of my era. As much as I love Street Fighter, the King of Fighters and etc. Cadillacs and Dinosaurs defines the term gaming in my life. I have a love and hate relationship with this game, so many good and bad memories with this game, still play this game and love the sound tracks. In the end, remember me, "Mustapha" is my game! P.s.: we used to think Hannah is Jack's girlfriend. :p
This is my childhood game, too. I played it as I grew up in Vietnam. We didn't know the name back then so we called "Army Soldier" game because Mustapha dresses like a soldier. 😆 Good time.
@@syededdy8103 man I m from pakistan and we played this in the 90s...we never called it mustafa game lmao however we debated whether or not that character was muslim or not lol
I'm in South Africa and I can say.. that this game has a very special place in my heart. Especially the "madness lurking song ". Some kids when I was in grade 5 during my primary school days would skip school just for this game.❤ along side THE KING OF FIGHTERS 2002 UNIQUE MAGIC PLUS 2. I'm a 14 year old KOF player..... I'll stop there. If I where to tell you my childhood with these games.... they got me through some dark times. With me being different from everyone else. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
In Bangladesh 🇧🇩 I would used to skip classes just to go to the arcade to play this game. We sometimes bet on one life to finish the whole game at that time. Alongside with kof 97,2002 this was one of the best games I've played during my childhood 😁
In Latvia, where I’m from, in 90’s it was one of the two top beat ‘em up games, along side with Violent Storm. Others, like Captain Commando, Streets of Rage or Warriors of Fate where lacking behind.
In the time that Street Fighter's Blanka "suddenly" disappeared (if he did), fret not, he needed a new scenario and sprite change. Thus, lo and behold, "Blanka" was found as "Bludge"
Great video. I can't wait to see what other Beat em ups you covered. I really dug the Final Fight videos, too. What I would figure as a Herculean task would be covering the lore of Double Dragon.
There are some fun tricks in this game. If Jack and Mustapha closely stand together for a few moments Jack pushes Mustapha to a berserk run. Sometimes you can wall jump by jumping towards the wall. Some doorway blocks jump, and if jumped you fall down to the ground very quickly. Mass has enormous damage if you just hold down and press punches. You can push the big dino towards the swamp by firing with Uzi in the 2nd stage. Reply in the comment if you know more tricks.
Awesome video! The thing I remember the most from this game is the game over screen. It’s pretty hardcore for an arcade game. Thank you for filling us in about the story!
When i saw this game, what makes me awe is the fluid animation. Especially Mustapha (spinning) Slash Kick. Yet not many beat em up arcade has sprint (tap forward twice input). When i played Streets of Rage 2, i'm still dissapointed there is no sprint. The first game that hook me into beat em up. Really unfortunate Capcom cannot port this game into their Beat Em Up Bundle because of copyright limbo.
In Morocco, specifically the city of Fez. A man was betting on finishing this game with one hand, and I saw him win a bet several times He catch the controling stick with two fingers and press the buttones with other two fingers
Capcom did continue making games featuring Dinosaurs btw, only not a beat em up game xD It's what later we got known as the Dino Crisis or rather I call it, the alternate Resident Evil world featuring dinos instead of bioweapons. Even then, Capcom didn't continue the Dino Crisis series and pretty sure won't reboot it :") sad
@@ShoryuGamesame logic, it came from the animation, that the poachers implant a device on the Dinos with a frequency that makes them become mad with range, that's why when the hitbox is depleted, is like you already removed the device, so they turn green and become friendly again, hence the village arc where they hint on it after you defeated slice.

Yep, in Latvia, we also called it like that. Same thing with Violent Storm - we called Boris, for the same reason.

I remember playing this in the arcade. Barely knew about the story. The fact this was a coop game is why it was my fav.
this game was legit my childhood this is very nostalgic
This game is still in some arcades in Brazil.
We love this game as much as KOF97,98,2002, Mortal Kombat ,and Tekken 3.
it was ALL RAGE IN PAKISTAN in Late 90's. This & KOF 97 were always the picks in local arcade Tourneys.

Cadillacs and Dinosaurs and Alien Vs. Predator needs to be ported to consoles already.

most get it wrong; they don't hit the dinos but implant a device on them, so when you attack it, you are removing the device that makes them go mad.
What about when they shoot them with Bazookas?
