I was at a neighbor hood get together last night & sat next to a woman in her 90’s & she mentioned this song out of the blue. I felt smug when I realized I knew the song as well . She told me she could remember WW2.
This is our Dad's fave song since he lived in trinadad before. He passed away the other day and got cremated yesterday. I miss you Dad. We Love you so much. Rest in Peace.

Discovered these young ladies while looking for “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy”. What a find. Created a 40’s songlist and included them, and the Wartime Revue.
This is soooo incredibly fantastic. Hard to believe that we "nowadays" have anything this well arranged, played, sung and performed. Thank you EVER so much, Pete Jacobs, and all the brilliant musicians of the great band and the wonderful, beautiful singers of the trio. 😃 😃 😃
What is with the comments section. Its a really nice performance but I would be shocked if any professional didn't get this incredibly basic song 100% perfect. The average performance today is a million times more impressive. Literally any major band and most small bands will be perfectly arranged and harmonised. I don't see the need to exaggerate so much. Just say its a nice song and leave it at that, you don't need to invent things for effect.
This one is my favorite! These girls sing beautifully & the band is fantastic. They all seem to enjoy what they're doing which makes it more enjoyable. Grateful for this channel.
this is not only an amazing performance but when i was just starting out in life i was fortunate enough to win a holiday to Trinidad so this song brings the memories flooding back of amazing places such as Manzanilla beach and of course drinking rum and coke which i do to this day...
I rand a company the other day and had a proposed wait of 20 minutes. The music was modern and not to my liking and my wait was less than 2 minutes. Guess I will use snail mail.
You are so right, but just be thankful that we have the internet, I was born in '42, imagine how I feel, but now I can re-enjoy such luminaries as Kathleen Ferrier, Maria Callas, Benny Goodman, Chick Webb, Frank Sinatra, Johnnie Ray and of course ELVIS PRESLEY, who, for me and millions like me turned the world from monochrome into glorious technicolour,
I wonder if the people who saw this live, realised the quality of the singers performances and harmonies together with the musical arrangements. Absolutely superb performance all round.
Its good I agree but lets not exaggerate. It is about a simple a song to perform as is possible. If anyone didn't get this song 100% perfect then they would need to be totally incompetent. Even a total amateur should be getting the harmonies perfect with this song. It is basically a nursery rhyme.
Probably they didnt! The first time I saw this video I wasn't expecting much based in the video quality. When I heard the first Rum & "CocaCola" I was impressed, Wow! that Sounded Nice to the ear! By the time I heard "Working for the Yanky Dooollar" I was melt!! Each time i listen to this, I just have to stop what Im doing just to fully enjoy the Moment!!
Live Free Or Die opinion and taste are the same, your taste and opinion is different then mine it’s a good song in my eyes, now let’s stop going back and forth like children I gotta get back to work
That is some magnificent singing and harmonies by those three lovely lasses. Well done! Patti Andrews once said that she and her sisters were so young and naive when they recorded this now-standard that they had no idea what the lyrics were all about.

I Love this song. This song had a measure of help for American GIs in WWII, reminded our soldiers what they were fighting for...and it was NOT Mom's apple pie. After the war, little kids were forever hearing this song, moms and dads playing the Andrew Sisters record at full volume on a record player, moms and dads dancing around as if they had just saved the world. They did, and the Andrew Sisters singing this song helped.
I watched many versions of this song on UA-cam,,,,,this is best version...great band !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,,ahmmmmm...nice great singers...............love the mni skirts...very mch 1940's
I grew up with a theatrical family, on tour. Thanks for this I've always loved this song. Better than the original. I played in Japan for a year, been on tour since 85 man.
Obrigado, Juliano. 3o lugar naquele festival. Também gravada pelo grupo Os Posteiros, no cd Rio-grandenses, de 2002, vencedor do Troféu Açorianos de 2003. Abraços.
Beautiful performance, bring back old days, we’re the best
I am 87 years old but still enjoy great music and great legs!!
And a great rum n coke!😅
Amen to that!!
Absolutely! I was born in 1968 but I live for this music. 👍🏽
These girls sound superb with their verbage clarity, they're beautiful and looks like they were p 3:42 pulled from a Miss America contest.
The Andrew Sisters are one of the most re-recorded Female artists of the 21 century………
Listen and view every day! Makes me happy!
How could you not win wars that way ?!😊
Very entertaining sitting on my deck on a nice warm day listening to the music
I was at a neighbor hood get together last night & sat next to a woman in her 90’s & she mentioned this song out of the blue. I felt smug when I realized I knew the song as well . She told me she could remember WW2.
Good old days when Calypso songs & music was clean....memories of the Chaguaramas base in Trinidad....now Trinidad and Tobago.....❤❤❤❤
Lyrics are not clean at all. Very rude to Caribbean people
This song is literally about child prostitution. Lol
Nice to see the old Trinidad Calypso music & songs still appreciated.....♥️

I’m 90 and remember when that was a hit. Still love it.
I LOVE how these musicians perform the same arrangements as the original!
The rhythm section sounds very different to the original... who's playing clave? Is it a click track?
The original was by Lord Invader born in Trinidad.
Andrew Sisters - the original rendition!
From Venezulea,
I listen to this music, I'm 52 and I think it would be on any street in the United States in the 40s
One of the greatest song of the last century!!!
Listening from Trinidad
Just wonderful wideos, beautiful songs from some times ago! Thank's for sharing music like this, super super!🤗😄
what an absolutely fantastic performance. Everyone brought their A-Game.

Beautifully blended voices! Beguiling harmony. Nothing to beat this version!!
The Andrews Sisters had a better blended harmony. These ladies are good, but not as good as the digitally remastered Andrews Sisters.
❤😊

Cool off man, it ain't the target, just the moment before combat!
Awesome big band song and those vocals are AMAZING!

A great version of song, and the girls are great too🌟❤️
First time I’ve seen this act. Love it.

What a great job on a wonderful old tune!
Brings back many fine melody memories of years ago, now brought way up to date!
Actually this was a very crappy song with a very poor taste of lyric ..
There were lots of better songs in that time.
anyway enjoy.

Yeah Jerry I was born in 1935 and still love the Barberetts girls!

Clicked on this expecting to very disappointed as I adore the The Andrews Sisters.... But wow. You ladies nailed it! Absolutely nailed it!!

Just doesn't work with Women vocalists. Makes it sound like an American Top 40 anesthe-tune. Lord Invader forever!
Well said! I agree completely.

Insrumentals and vocals were spot on. Thanks for this remake.
Deliciously fantastic! LOVED IT
What a blessing that there is a UA-cam channel and we can all enjoy beautiful people and beautiful dancers. This is a class.
OUTSTANDING...and the way it's SUPPOSED to be done!
Well done to the girls and the band. Really enjoyed the act. Thank you so much.
Indeed as a huge fan of the Andrews sisters I must say that was terrific!
This is a whole lot of fun. Thanks, guys!!
Reminds me of a singer/muso I knew who included this song in her repertoire
and sang it beautifully.. this version is very authentic - Great!
Simple, sweet, sexy. and a touch of class to boot. Bring back the good ole days!!!!
No argument - this is the very very best version of this number - super singers with a fantastic band - loved the brass - thank you so much
