    Try not to be rocked by the whole storm in the comments bs, your videos are great don’t waste time worrying about people who are desperate to tell you they’ve been offended life’s too short. I love the SP I can tell the speed is infectious! I just turned 50 and I feel like I might get one eventually. I got my licence in July, I don’t know why I am telling you this! I am growing into a gsx-8S and loving it and that’s nowhere near as quick as an mt10!

    You’ve got the right idea, motorcycling above all else should be fun 😉. I’m lucky enough to have more than one bike, and am often asked why I have something as “impractical” as the SuperMoto stuffed in the garage 😳, always seems like a daft question to me…….because it’s fun 🤪!!!

    Congrats on the new bike! Regarding the standard end can after a decat (even the excellent Leo Vince decat pipe) - it's actually quite raspy and too loud I found as it has little silencing volume to knock off high frequencies or deadening material. If you go for a larger volume (longer and fatter) aftermarket end pipe, not only does it get rid of the rasp, they also come with a removable baffle that allows trips to Germany and quiet track days again, taking it down to stock-ish volume. Something like the Leo Vince Factory S, Scorpion full length or longer fatter Arrow pipes.

    An all round good video, nice to see you enjoying the bike. Spot on about autumn roads (so far) being better than summer, especially the summer we’ve had, where the idiots have clamoured for the limited warm, dry, days.

    Nail, has made full contact with the head! I’ve been on adv bikes for years, mainly cos, I can’t sit on sports bike’s anymore. I have been struggling to work out what is missing. lol I did the almost exact opposite - Had a 2017 FZ-09 for 6 years, and recently got the 2022 KTM 1290. For me, having all the room and the features on the KTM - completely changed the game for me at least compared to my "old" FZ-09. I still have it, and love getting on it to rip around from time to time. The torque is simply amazing. The aftermarket availability is amazing, and Yamaha has been rock solid engine-wise for years. There are fit and finish items you're noticing however and that's just Yamaha.
    For me the bikes are as different as night and day, but I do understand "riding more" because it's streetable. For me however my ADV bike is my "go anywhere" bike. Not the case with the FZ-09 where I feel like I may fly off at any moment due to road surfaces etc.
    Glad you're liking it though man. I considered one for a time as well.

      Use more than one. 😁 If cleaning a really dirty bike (often this is me), use one for paint, one for each wheel (then clean chain with them), and one minimum for the metals. Not found they scratch if you do that and they are great. Also wear gloves or you have no oils in your skin afterwards. Keep polishing. 🤣

      @@bobcarter5548agreed. They don’t scratch your paint, this is a very misinformed view that I’ve seen quite a few times. I use about 4 wipes on a whole bike if it’s really covered in shit from normal roads and they’re very good.

    another vote for the FZ1, but also the FJR.
    I rode a gen1 FZ1 for a decade and a gen2 for 3 years, I’d go gen 2 Fz1 over gen 1 by a small margin.

    Tim, good to see you're loving the MT10 - it's such an awesome and IMO, underrated bike! How about a 2nd hand KTM 790R for your mate Matt? Great bike, a mate just
    got one for 4k. A lot of bike for the money, easy to get on with, good for a 1st timer but will be perfectly good enough to keep forever (though obvs, I doubt that would ever happen! ). I really quite fancy a 790/890R as a second bike to keep some of the miles down on the MT10.... I'd steer away from any older Trumpets, TBH, reliability not very good (and the Sprint ST has terrible suspension, problems with Reg/Recs/stators and sprag clutches - I have a mate that had one and all of those issues (more than one in France :( ) Totally agree about the current weather and autumn riding! Went out for the day last Sunday and couldn't beleilve the lack of bikes out there (which was ace! ). Have taken tomorrow, Tues and Weds off just to ride, make the most of the current weather!!

    Totally relate on your lust for THE SPORTY SPORT SPORT vs SUV Sport. There is a difference.
    Sport bikes and Super nakeds are where it's at for on road fun and excitement.
    RE the suspension - how is mode A3 on super bumpy shitty country roads? comfortable? do you get launched out of your seat still on fast bump absorptions? The MT10SP is on my shortlist for next bike and very curious as the roads around me are veeeerrrry inconsistent in quality and generally quite textured and bumpy.
    You're awesome too!

    • @timrodierides
      @timrodierides  Рік тому

      A3 is softer but there's still only so much it can do over big yumps - it'll still kick you out of your seat at times. But there is a really noticeable improvement in ride quality between A2 and A3, I love it. Normally I just leave a bike in one mode but on this one I'm switching between A2 for fast cornering and A3 for general pottering.

      You can use Vulcanet for complete washes, I’ve been doing it for years on all manner of bikes and they’ve never scratched my paint. Also, they have a rust inhibitor which seems to me to be a little OTT for “mostly bug cleaning.” Obviously there’s places you can’t get to so power washing those areas works well in conjunction with the wipes.

    Definitely do the link pipe. I'd go straight through though rather than resonated, as the end can is already quite large. I did the end can and link pipe on my Tuono, as that's combined. On my s1000r I had to do the headers, as there's no mid section.

    • @timrodierides

      Thing is the end can is straight through on the MT10 so it'd just be obnoxiously loud if I went straight through for the link pipe. And given some of the noise/riding I've seen from MT10 riders today (a sunny Sunday) I'm starting to think I want to not be one of them…

    • @lordgibbness
      @lordgibbness Рік тому

      @@timrodierides both my Tuono and s1000r are also "straight through", but the way they work is, that longer the end can is, the more they reduce the sound by expansion into the absorption material. A shortie end can would be obnoxiously loud (tried one on my s1000r and took it straight off!) but a longer muffler would actually be ok... either way, getting rid of the cat will be great! 👍

    When in the queue for Le Shuttle passport checks, do you sit in the queue, or go to the front and wedge your front wheel in?
    I waited ages last trip. Eventually I was just a few cars back, when a group of motorcyclists rode past, stopped a car moving forward and plonked six bikes in the queue at the front.
    It added a good 15mims to the wait. I wasn’t particularly happy, but am not sure if this is the norm, or taking the piss as I was inclined to think on that day.

    I’d be aware of Yamaha comfort seats , I got one for a tracer it was crap ..better to send it away for memory foam and medical gel upgrade ..I’d recommend Tom Hurley custom seats ..top job and not as expensive as you would image in fact prob less than Yamahas option

    I’ve never rode a MT10 and thought it needed anymore power. It’s a great bike. It was between the MT10 or the KTM SDR. I. chose the KTM due to the current offers and the 4year warranty. However, MT10 is still on a wish list.
    I’ve never been into adventure bikes. I find them big and heavy, especially moving around the garage.

      The only thing I forgot to mention is there's a noticeable dip in the power with the MT10 which is a bit annoying at times. Minor thing but I reckon a remap would smooth it out. Lots of KTM bargains to be had at the moment!

      @@timrodierides I think it’s the mapping of Euro 5 on the new gen MT10. Your right, a remap would sort out any issues and probably transform it into even a better bike than it already is.

    How does this compare to the Tuono?

    • @timrodierides
      @timrodierides  10 місяців тому +1

      The Tuono's a bit faster and the engine feels more aggressive. Tuono's front end feel is better, but the riding position is also a lot more cramped for tall people. Tuono's electronics don't feel quite as seamless (even I could notice them kicking in on the road quite abruptly and I'm an oaf). For track the Tuono's undoubtedly a sharper bike to ride, for the road I'm quite happy with the MT-10!

    How does it compare to your previous Hypermotard SP for fun factor ?

    • @timrodierides
      @timrodierides  Рік тому

      The fun happens at higher speeds! It’s still wanting to wheelie everywhere but it picks the front up at more like 60mph than 30. It’s a lot less focused, insofar as I could happily do big miles on the Yamaha whereas the Hyper isn’t much fun on a motorway. A bit more grown up generally. You definitely perch on top of the Ducati whereas you sit in the Yamaha. The Yamaha sounds better and more interesting.

    Sometimes methinks maybe I should've gotten empty ten ass pee or something instead of multi v4 peepee which is great fun when pushed hard, but not all that exciting/engaging otherwise thanks to how dialed in it is + wind protection and body position. Tuono wasn't comfy enough; s1000xr was boring and characterless, too easy to ride, and had no sensation of speed; sf was too fast and too naked, also suffered from being too good and not really being all that much fun unless going too fast for the road; superduke was too naked and didn't like the engine, Evo also lacked feel from the suspension, rode nicely though.
