Could you Guys make a iPhone 15 case?
Really enjoying this series! It's like visiting your studio behind the scenes every day and also learning about different ways to keep a tank!
yeah that's the vibe I was going for but some are saying to keep it just about this specific tank.
@@MDFishTanks Ah, well, it's the internet, right?. 🤣Not everyone is going to like everything (and if they aren't enjoying it, there's a handy button in the corner of the window they can use to close it), and I would think it must be more fun for you to mix up your format! You are doing maintenance and enjoying your tanks day after day, not just build it and walk away. You're experimenting with new gadgets and watching the fish in the environments you created for them. One of the best things about your channel is that you're candid and your videos - while produced beautifully - have so much personality. You're hanging out with us as you make your art. Like you said in the video, you've got to create what you like or else you'll burn out. Just know there are plenty of us who are enjoying it! (And I'm so excited that the baby fish are listening to their parents and keeping safe from Chunks!)
@@MDFishTanksno I like seeing all the tanks! Especially the Shellys. But
Hi MD any chance you can do a father fish set-up as I would love to see you do something different and natural without any additives presuming there's no copyright issues 👍
I am loving this low key weekly update on all the recent projects! I know it's FOR the one specific project tank, but it's a great format for all the silly little studio changes!
I’m enjoying the updates of other tanks around the fish room, as well as the ongoing saga of the no-maintenance tank.
Love your videos, that water top up system is essentially the same as the float valve in a toilet cistern, wonder if you could do a centralised system with a pressurised contain (or elevated above the level of your tanks so gravity does the work) and just a hose running to each tank with a simple float valve on each, that way you would only have to fill up your main water butt to maintain all your tanks automatically, no electricity or pumps required. Keep making the great content ❤
I love how this series is becoming more of a vlog, and the intros are great. Keep it up MD!
2 years following you. Watching this over breakfast at 8am from Tampines, Singapore. I have a couple of blank canvas tanks waiting for me at home. Looking to emulate you!
A company called Aquara makes a smart curtain and shade controller that you should be able to install with a blackout situation for that window. Then you could open and close the curtain or shade from your phone. You may even be able to set a timer for it to just automatically open and close at certain points of the day.
I’m enjoying this deep dive series on one tank idea.
This is a great series and I loved hearing your honest perspective at the end! Cheers to you for staying true to what you want to be doing and just taking us along for the ride. Not everyone has the time or even physical capabilities to keep up with tank maintenance, so I think it’s super cool you’re showing us this approach. For me it’s going to be helpful tips to remember for when I’m out on holiday or when work/ reg life starts to pile up!
Keep making more and doing what fulfills you 😊
LOVING THESE NEW LITTLE INTROS !!!
This whole process is cool to follow. Thanks. What would also be cool if u want to do something very different, is to set up a tank for just one very cool predatory catfish, like a jaguar catfish for example. A real monster which u could feed excess guppies and such. Please do that!!
I think he ever mentioned before way back that he was not interested in such a tank. But would be pretty cool if you can give him alternate ideas! He has varied it up with collaborating with that researcher fella with the biotope tanks and Aquatic Gardens owner.
Rocking the Crocs n socks dude! 😅.. love it! What an awesome channel, presentation, and content! Thank you for sharing it all 👌
I’m enjoying watching you enjoy what you enjoy. Wow that’s a lot of enjoying 🙂
I appreciate you sharing what you love about the hobby! There are so many ways to love this stuff. I like to have a couple fast growing plants I can fuss over, and then a couple medium and slow growing plants so I'm not overwhelmed.
You could take that auto-top up to the next level, but having upside down U bends n bends?) to bridge near by tanks, so they all stay at the same level and all get topped up together. As long as you're happy that they all share the same water, means less work. I'm all for the lazy!
Just recently found your channel. I love the way you explain everything and the love you put into making your tanks. This is definitely something I'll be getting into at some point. Would love to see a couple videos on the plants you use (purpose, fore/mid/background, etc) and the different fish you find yourself putting together and why. Keep up the great work!
Chunks looked like he was about to go on a date. Brother was all shined up and looking good. 😂
Best light ive ever used for plants and fish are one of those fancy led pot growing lights. Not the skanky blue and red ones but one of the yellowish lights. Plants explode under those things
Thanks for inspiring me to join the hobby MD!
Das "große" Aquarium ist wirklich der Hammer!! 😮👍Aber auch der "Self Sustaining Tank" ist - wie alle deine Aquarien - ganz toll eingerichtet! 😉
I have exact auto top off I use a black plastic trash can with lid and hole for the water on side it isn’t an eye sore because it matches my tank stand.
This series is interesting md 😍😍
my whole family watched this while having dinner 😂 they Absolutely loved it ❤
❤from india sir 🇮🇳
md, you may want to consider hatching out live babry brineshrimp for your baby fish
I believe those mystery barbs are Narayan or Two-Spot Barbs (Pethia narayani). They are relatively rare in the hobby, but peaceful and hardy little fish. Lucky :)
This is great! I truly dislike tank maintenance. It doesn't matter if I one tank or more. It's not something that I enjoy.
Been waiting for this, this series has inspired me to build my own self sustained eco aquarium
It blows my mind how good it's looking ❤
Really enjoying the series! I love the updates on everything, and a acara breeding tank build would be really cool.
Nice work MD, your studio is absolutely awesome :)
thank you :)
@@MDFishTanks You are welcome mate, maybe a trip to Australia one day and you can do a working holiday :)
I have 2 tanks with this set up and wondered if you can get it out so thanks for this
MD, you should do a planted monster tank. Snake head or maybe a floridia gar or something. Something big that is out of your wheel house. It would be cool to see you do an aquascaped planted tank wih large predatory fish.
I've started removing the babies when they're in the eggs. But that was the plan from the start... I love getting to watch them grow through their development stages.
I love this series!!
What a great way to start the week 🍻
Perhaps take the water top up directly from the water but, either moving it close to the tank or using a longer pipe. Less labour for you, happy days.
Hard to believe that is dwarf sag because it’s so tall. Even with your high light it should be even shorter in my experience. Thanks for the great videos. Cheers
I find the less light, the taller it grows as its reaching for the light.
I like the high end tanks as much as I love the low tech tanks. This is my favorite channel, though my tanks are low tech. ^^
My water's crystal clear though it takes longer for issues to work themselves out, but that's the thing - the tanks are always changing & adapting.
I don't interfere unless something has a tendency to spiral out of control. Thank goodness I haven't had a single illness crop up either, though I have meds on standby just in case.
It would be lovely if you added that Chihiros WGRB on there. I have both lights but those lights on there now are a bit too yellow.
It's just the tannins. Once the plants grow in, it will look far more green. I can change them to be a bit more blue but that will encourage algae growth at this stage.
Loving this series!
Thanks for no pixelation. 🙃
I'm surprised the water top off has no protection from snails. I had a similar unit that i had to make a cage around the float . Thanks for another interesting video.
What a gorgeous tank 😍
I think a pond could have a heater and a water skimmer. And it would be self sustaining in temperate Europe. Pond directly on bedrock with natural march around it and no filter.
You could hook up your ATO to an RO unit to make it fully automated like what reefers do
Does the water parameter change when evaporation happens? Talking about water hardness in this case.
Like, does the minerals in the water evaporates too or do they stay in the water still? I have somewhat similar thing, so I’m thinking whether if I should put RO water or mineralized water to top my tank off
Use some tubing and syphon some of the babies out to grow on. You can leave some with the parents to see how they get on.
feels so cruel to take them from their mum, but I think that will give them the best chance.
@@MDFishTanks that green water on your sword vase will be an amazing source of food for them as well. I raise all my fry in green water.
Thanks for showing the sub pump kit , I just ordered one for my big sub box !
What type of fish is chunks?
Be sure you use RO-water to fill up the tank. Otherwise the water will harden up over time - not the best for a long-time self sustaining tank.
Greetings from Germany
Yes! Acara breeding tank!
So relaxing 😌
Just thinking of replicating this tank, so cool! I was wondering if you would recommend rainbow fish for this kind of tank or would it be better to have smaller schooling fish like the ones in your video? I've had rainbow fish before and love all the different colors that come out when they get bigger
MD , pull the water silicone tube above the water level so u don't get a back siphoning.
Indeed my first tought! Unless there is a check valve preventing return flow of course 😉
@@SandroWtz most auto top off system don't have check valves
the exit point of the tube is a check valve 👍👍
I think you should take the 2 middle doors off the 8foot tank & do 2 no filter tanks in the cupboards
Make sure the hose is above the water surface or you have a check valve or else it will syphon your tank
I love your vids
You just broke @Kaityscichlids heart.
Planted aquarium for arwana fish
You should make a lucky bamboo tank❤
Do you not have an auto top off for your reef tank?
looking bussinmg md
Hi MD . i've watched tons of your videos. Why don't you use Proserpinaca Palustris?
Is the hose end supposed to be below the water level? Mine specifically has to remain above the highest level to avoid risk of a siphon forming and emptying the tank. ❤
You need to use RO water in the top up tank otherwise the water in aquarium will become more concentrated with minerals.
Maybe a stupid question but wouldn't it be better to have airstones or something in the water storage tank? Especially if you have chosen something that holds enough water that will last a few weeks to avoid stagnation.
I am convinced you will do literally everything else before trying a sump 😂
I have seen some pond video, they used under water cameras, could you give this a try too?
Would you ever do a Batis tank?
Md I’ve got a 30 cm cube tank and don’t have a clue what to do with if I need some inspiration but I don’t no where from
Id like to have your help setting up an aquarium. I dont have the ability to make my driftwood look as good and only certain plants survive for me
@MdFishTanks while watching I noticed your water is coming from a barrel so I think it's unclorinated, how do you think I could do this while keeping the new water safe for fish considering my water will be coming from public supply??
@@chrisniedrist7538 the barrel is full of tap water and I add API Aqua Essential which is a dechlorinator
Interesting! There isn't an issue with the water getting bacteria or anything?
Ever thought about doing a water bridge between 2 of your tanks
Could u just put little fertile in the top up water, I use to have calk in auto top of for my saltwater.
😊
I wonder if the floating plants will jack with it
what treatment do u use..?
Daphina can be used to feed fish
Yes
What snails do you keep? 🙂
3rd wall breaking entrance today 😂
How are the shell dwellers doing
What kind of fish is chunks? ❤
When is Chuncks gonna get a mate?
I kinda wish the titled tank was the only thing in this video series, and anything about other tanks was in seperate videos, which i'd still watch, mind. Just wish it was seperate
Ok noted. Someone else said this as well and people liked it so will do that in future.
How big is the tank ?
We gotta get chunks a girl friend n some friends like like him
What sort of fish is Chunks?
Royal Acara
That's what she said
❤❤❤
Did we witness that eba eat one of its fry😮😮
no but I can see why you would think that. When they stray to far, they suck them up and spit it out back with the group. Very good parents.
I would have just gone with a lid for this you know.
pls keep snakehead
Connect every tank to your giant water bucket
What is the name of the snail? 17:32
Dave🐌
not happy that after a month of redoing it, the cichlid tank is gone 👎👎 for me one of the best you had, different from all the others
That tank was set up 6 months ago. And the new one is awesome and the fish love it 😊
1
Man did you change camera or video stayel?
I don't know but last few video's look different
I not like it ... please come back to old stayel
You should never have gotten the Malawi's like that should have just done what everyone else does and buy more matured male only and pick and choose what colour and types you like, instead everyones lost interest in a group you had over a year of mainly silver/ brown females with one or two males that look the same.
but thats sorta fun too, to look at, just watching dem nature over time under yr care is really fulfilling
yeah, it wasn't me that picked them 😂
@@MDFishTanksDon't listen to him. It's cool to watch them grow out too.
I guess I am not everyone then, because I am quickly bored by fish who are nothing but colourful 😂. I find that sitting and watching my dull female Guppy groups is highly entertaining. They are much more interesting than the brightly colored males.
I was quite fascinated by everything MD told us about these fishes behaviour and am hoping to see more of them.
My fish are pets, not decoration!
